Chapter 13
The mission was simple, escort the payload without any repercussions, That was the order Reaper had given to Agent Fire. But due to Overwatch involvement, it made the mission difficult.
"C'mon Snow, you can't deal with a simple monkey?" Fire asked out of annoyance. "Well, if maybe Widowmaker could get a shot on him, we wouldn't be having this discussion now would we?" Snow retorted. The French assassin cursed lightly before aiming her rifle as it leveled towards the scientist's head. Before a she could fire off a shot, a burning skeleton stood in her way.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the spider. Come to die?" Ghost asked with a hint of smug. Widow fired a bullet into his head before zipping off.
"I'm not done with you yet!" Ghost yelled wrapping his chain around her leg and pulling her back, snapping the wire.
"Get off me demon!" She yelled kicking his chest. Ghost grabbed her and threw her against a wall, making her dazed.
"Where are they?" He hissed. Widow raised an eyebrow at the question. "Where are David and Julie Williams? WHERE ARE THEY!" The Rider roared making Widow shift in his grasp.
"I don't know what you're talking about mon amor." She replied with a grin. Ghost growled before punching her across the face.
"I'll ask again, this time, if you don't answer me there are more bones to break." To show his point, he snapped Widowmaker's right wrist, making her yelp at the pain. She took in a deep breath before chuckling.
"You don't think I know what this is? I've been through worse." She retorted. "Oh I know, Amelie. I know you've been brainwashed to be Talon's little pet. Obeying to whatever they ordered, no freewill. I also know you harbor some pain in knowing you were the one that killed Gerard LaCroix. Your husband." Ghost said making her freeze.
What was this feeling? Was she scared? Was she still in pain? No, this was Amelie talking. She is Widowmaker, an effective assassin for Talon. But, she still longed to know who Gerard was.
"I don't care for that insect, a spider feels nothing." She spat. Fire, noticing the comms were on to hear their conversation, looked at the building they were on and fired a grappling hook towards the ledge. Snow jumped and held Fire's hand as the two zipped to the top.
"Widowmaker, are you okay?" Fire asked as Snow pulled the Rider off of her. "Oui, now let's get that payload moving." Widowmaker replied as she jumped from ledge to ledge to get to the payload.
"I don't know who you two are, but you've picked a wrong time to get involved. I suggest you flee before something bad happens." Ghost warned the two. Snow smirked before running at the demon and kicking him the face.
"Well, she is our supervisor. So, it's kind of our right to get involved." Fire replied kicking out the Rider's feet and kicking his chest.
"Payload's on the move, some help would be appreciated." Sombra said in the comms. "Go, I'll deal with trash." Fire said cracking his knuckles. Snow looked at him before jumping down to help with fight.
"It's suicide to fight me alone. Do you know who I am?" Ghost asked cracking his jaw into place.
"Some poor sap that made a deal with the devil. Now you're the Ghost Rider. Anything else?" Fire asked with a smirk.
"You've got guts, but if it's all the same to you, I'd like to settle this. Man to man." Ghost said reverting to his regular form. Fire raised an eyebrow as Charles lifted his fists.
"I know we'd beat him like that, but I want to fight him regularly rather than relying on the power of the Rider to fight these battles." Charles spat. Fire walked closer to the side as Charles and The Rider were in an intense argument. Fire continued to walk to the edge until Charles shot off a ball of fire at his feet, making him halt.
"Just because I'm having an argument with a skeletal fire being, doesn't mean we're done here." He said dashing forward. Fire prepared himself for a hit. Charles faked a right hook and uppercutted Fire in his gut. Fire backed off at the sudden loss of air in lungs. Charles reared back and punched him in the face, making him faze lightly. He swears this man looks familiar. The same blonde hair, green starling eyes that held a certain pain. Fire felt a tear threaten to race down his cheek.
"No, you're a Talon operative. No time to be crying." He scolded himself. Due to this sudden stillness, Charles was able to land a blow on his cheek knocking him out. Breathing heavily, Charles put a hand to his comms.
"I've got one of the operatives, we could see if we can get information out of him." He announced.
"Nice job luv!" "Good work soldier." "Great job liebes." As Charles hefted the Talon operative, the payload was successfully halted and the rest of Talon departed. Charles lowered himself as he gave the unconscious agent to Jack and Winston. Lena, Genji, and Angela walked with him onto the ship. Lena cheered and patted Charles on the shoulder.
"Great job luv, I'm so proud of you." Lena said praising him on capturing a Talon agent. "Thank you Aunt Lena." Charles said with a smile. Lena nearly squealed at the title and peppered his face with kisses.
"C'mon, stop it." He complained pushing Lena away as she giggled. Angela smiled before looking at the tied up agent. Something felt familiar about him.
"I know what you're feeling. Trust me, I think he seems familiar." Jack said standing next to her. She glanced at Jack to see the old soldier's tired eyes glimmer with hope. They haven't found the bodies of the deceased parents of Charles and Jennie. Maybe, fate played a role and made a miracle happen.
~Timeskip~
Jack, Angela, Charles and Lena stood in front of Fire as he was tied up on a chair. "You think I'd give up my team for a group of sore losers? Pfft, nice try." He spat. Jack sighed before pacing the ground.
"Tell us where your base is, and I won't let Ghost here hurt you anymore than he wants to. He does have a score to settle with Talon." Jack said. Charles stood in the shadows as the Rider took form. Fire stared at the demon before laughing lightly.
"Do your worst, demon." He said before Charles shoved the agents away and grabbed him by the shoulders. He slammed him against the wall making Hana and Lucio jumped at the thump.
"WHERE IS IT?" He yelled making Lena back away. "Charlie, calm down." Angela said before the Rider snapped his face towards here. The angel backed off in fear.
"Where is it?" Charles demaned. Fire raised en eyebrow under his mask. "What did she call you?" He asked the demon.
"Why do you want to know?" Charles asked. "That name, it's familiar." Fire replied. The man shifted under the Rider's grasp.
"I'll ask again. Where. Is. Talon. Headquarters?" Charles hissed. Fire looked into the eyeless holes of his adult son. Taking this as silence, Charles stared into his eyes. Before he could use the Penance Stare, he discovered something. He placed the agent on the floor and back up as his skin formed back.
"Charlie? Are you okay?" Angela asked. regaining his footing, he walked forward and removed Fire's mask to reveal the 50 year old man with dirty blonde hair, similar green eyes and a tired expression. The three gasped as Charles fell to his knees.
"D-David?" Angela asked. David chuckled lightly. "Haven't heard that name in years. How ya doin' Angi?" The former agent known as Fire asked. Charles stared at the man as tears welled in his eyes. David looked up to see his son about to cry.
"Hey sport. Surprise." David said with smile. The mindcontrol had dissipated from his mind as his memories flowed back. His life in Overwatch, meeting Julie, the birth of his children. He had missed so much. Jack walked over and untied the man as he rubbed his wrists. With some courage, he walked over to Charles and knelt in front of him. He placed a hand on his cheek and giggled lightly.
"My, how a strapping young man you've turned out to be." He said before Charles rushed forward, making David fall to the ground. The host of the terrifying demon was reduced to a sniveling little 9 year old boy. Jennie and a couple agents walked past before hearing the cries of Charles. She opened the door and raised an eyebrow as the two were hugging each other on the floor.
David glanced to the doorway and noticed his daughter standing there. "Who are you?" She asked stepping back. Charles and David stood as he wiped his tears.
"Sis, it's dad." He said. Jennie froze in place as David walked forward. He stared into his daughter's eyes as her lip quivered.
"You look just like your mother." He said with a smile. "D-Dad?" She asked, hoping this wasn't a dream. David looked at her and nodded.
"Daddy!" She cried as tears fell down her face. The quiet room was filled with the sobs of both children.
"Don't cry children, Daddy's here." David said pulling Charles in. The Wiliams family was together, except for one person.
~Talon HQ~
"Explain to me how Fire was taken?" Reaper yelled. Snow stood her ground against the Angel of Death.
"How was I supposed to know he couldn't handle the Ghost Rider?" She retorted. Reaper yelled before throwing a vase at the wall. The water dripped it's way down. Water sprinkled onto her shoulder until it froze. Reaper piped up at the sudden ice on her shoulder as she brushed it away.
"No matter, we have our own way of dealing with the demon." Reaper said letting out a raspy laugh.
