Chapter 25

From the day they found her to helping her heal from her wounds, Charles never left her side. Angela had even protested that Charles stay bed ridden or do something productive instead of being with her every waking moment.

"Charlie please, go get something to eat." Angela pleaded. "But what if something happens?" He asked.

"If something happens, Ana or Zenyatta will be with me." She assured him. On hearing their names, the sniper and Omnic appeared.

"Don't worry Charlie, she's in good hands." Ana said with a smile. "Yes Charles, she is in good hands. Go get something to eat." Zenyatta said placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Okay." Charles said in defeat. Before he left, Angela grabbed his shoulders and gave him a kiss. "I'll be alright liebes, you go have some fun. But not too much fun, I still want my pillow for tonight." She said with a grin.

"Yes ma'am." He replied as he left the medbay. "He is loyal, I'll give him that." Ana said placing a hand on her hip.

"I'm glad I chose the right one." Angela said before relaxing in her bed. Charles walked down the hallway until he emerged in the mess hall. The smell of food overwhelmed his senses as he grabbed a tray and sat next to Fareeha.

"Let me guess, she ordered you to get food?" Aaron asked. "Yeah, but as long as she is getting better I don't have to be a wreck." Charles admitted. Fareeha chuckled lightly.

"You havin a giggle ther m8?" Charles asked. "Was that supposed to be Lena?" She asked between fits of laughter.

"Who's supposed to be me?" Lena asked walking over to the three. "I think Charles here tried to perfect his British accent but it still needs work." Aaron said with a grin.

"Well, you almost got it luv, just need to work on the pronunciation." Lena said sitting next to Aaron.

"You sure, it sounded almost perfected." Fareeha said. "You're right about that, I think we found the new 'Tracer'." Aaron said laughing hard. Lena looked at Charles as he tried to suppress a smile.

"Cheers luv, the cavalries ere'." Charles said her familiar line. "That's my line!" Lena protested. "Ever get that feelin' of deja vu?" He asked, making her growl lightly.

"You're lucky you're my nephew, or I'd have to take you down a peg runt." She threatened him. Charles looked at her and stuck his tongue out.

"Love ya Aunt Lena." He said stopping his teasing. "Love ya too nerd." Lena replied with a smile. Charles placed his head on Fareeha's shoulder and closed his eyes.

"You alright bro?" Fareeha asked. "Yeah, just a little tired. Being by her side is quite a handful." He admitted.

"That is what will happen if you stay by her side for every waking moment. But I do love the honor in that." Lena said nodding in approval. Aaron smiled at them before his phone began ringing.

"Hello?" He asked answering the call. "Manhattan, it's Lawson." A man replied. "Commander Lawson, sir." He replied with utmost respect.

"You have the Williams boy with you?" He asked. "Yes sir." Aaron answered. "Good, I managed to find Atticus and Grief. I've yet to make contact with Barnes but we are finding her. We just need you and Charles to bring in Apollo. Tell him the Unit is reforming." Lawson said.

"Yes sir." Aaron said as the line clicked. He placed his phone back in his pocket and nodded at Charles.

"Excuse us ladies, but me and Charles have work to do." Arsenal said. "Where we going?" Charles asked as he threw his garbage away.

"We are going to find a special friend." He replied with a smile.

~Lawson~

The J-SOC commander sighed as he placed his phone on the table. A knock was heard on his door.

"Come in." He called out. The door squeaked on its hinges as a man walked in and saluted the Commander.

"Atticus, I'm glad you've came back." Lawson said with a faint smile. "I can tell breaking up the band was hard on you Commander, my, my, you've aged." Atticus joked.

"Heh, yeah I guess it has. I made contact with Manhattan just a few seconds ago, I had him and the Williams boy go find Apollo." Lawson informed them.

"Charles Williams, we at the FBI had been searching for the whereabouts of him and one called 'Arsenal'. After the fiasco in King's Row with the Skeleton, I kind of put two and two together." Atticus said.

"What do you mean?" Lawson asked. "Well, we've decided to check any recently active Overwatch bases, considering the fact we've gotten reports of the Gibraltar Watchpoint in active status. It seems that these dropships we've seen are actually Overwatch sanctioned dropships." He said pulling up a holo vid of a satellite video of the dropship landing in the Sahara.

"It seems to me, Overwatch is back, but in secret." Atticus finished. "Didn't have to take a rocket scientist to figure that one out." Lawson said rolling his eyes.

"We've also seen that skeleton in other places, a temple in China, an abandoned church where conveniently a pile of ash lays, and the Shambali Monks citadel." Atticus continued.

"What does this have to do with getting the Unit back together?" Lawson asked. "I've concluded that the Williams boy is the flaming skeleton that was on the news." Grief said playing a video that covered the story of the Rider.

"I see, but this is all speculation. We'll get our answers when we get the band back together. For now, help find Barnes. I know she quit to live a simple life, but if Project Avatar is back in production, we'll need every able bodied man/woman on the job." Lawson said. Grief nodded as turned and left. Lawson spun on his chair and looked out the window.

"Please be alright Aaron."

~Arsenal~

The two boarded a dropship and began to fly to Russia to recruit Apollo. "I hope he'll remember me." Arsenal said.

"Why wouldn't he?" Charles asked. "Considering the fact it's been a long time since we broke up the Unit and I've changed now." Aaron replied.

"Oh well, at least you'll be able to see him again." Charles said. Aaron nodded before walking to the ramp as the clouds raced past him.

'It would be good to see you again Dimitri' Aaron thought before the radio crackled to life.

"Halt, this is restricted airspace, divert your course or be destroyed." A gruff man said. "This is Agent Charles Williams of Overwatch, requesting permission to land." Charles replied.

"Overwatch? Pfft, nice try. Divert your course now." The man said "This is the Arsenal, I'm here to speak with a 'Dimitri Khrushchev'. Tell him Manhattan has arrived." Aaron said.

"Continue your descent." The operator said. "How the?" "Overwatch is still disbanded." Aaron pointed out.

"That's true." Charles said as the ramp lowered. The two disembarked for the control center and nodded at passerbys.

"Oh man, to think the Russian Amry is still fighting the Omnics here." Charles said looking at the destroyed buildings.

"That's war for ya kid, it never is fair. Always consuming your sanity, one day at a time." Aaron said zoning off. The two continued before a hulking figure of a woman stood in their way.

"Dimitri is in here." She said, her pink hair frosted with snow. Charles gulp silently and continued behind Aaron. As they entered, a man walked up to them and smiled.

"Hello comrades, I believe you are here to see me?" The man asked. "Да, мой друг Димитрий" (Yes my friend Dimitri) Aaron replied.

"Ah Manhattan, I remember you were so frail, look at you now! All strong and even better than before." Dimitri said pulling him in a hug. Charles stood in his spot before glancing up to see the pink haired female glare at him, causing Charles to scoot a little to the left.

"Dimitri, this is Charles." Aaron said introducing the scared man. "Ohohoho, little Charles, I remember your sister nearly drove Barnes nuts over the questions she asked constantly. Oh the face she made, Barnes nearly fell asleep." Dimitri said.

"It's great to meet you, sir!" Charles said saluting him. "Oh you're fine Charlie. I can tell Zarya here is making you nervous, but she's a nice person once you get to know her." He assured the scared man. Zarya glared at him before smirking.

"So, why has the Overwatch agent and vigilante want from this old fighter?" Dimitri asked sitting down.

"Well Apollo, Lawson is reforming the Unit." Aaron replied making Dimitri sit up. "Finally, I hated being bored here." Apollo said standing up and cracking his neck.

"Seriously? Just like that?" Charles asked. "Da, Charlie, after leaving I got bored being here. No offense Zarya." Dimitri said looking at the Russian.

"You're fine, I got it covered here Dimitri. It seems your Special Ops Unit needs you more." Zarya said patting his shoulder. Before the three could depart, an explosion shook the base.

"What the hell?" Aaron said. "Damn Omnics, this is the 5th air raid. Get to the GUNS!" Zarya shouted as she grabbed her particle cannon.

"Черт возьми" Dimitri said as he grabbed a rifle near the entrance and ran out the door. Charles and Aaron followed close behind as they saw a large battalion of Omnic soldiers and tanks. Artillery fired from behind the battalions.

"We need reinforcements." A soldier said running up to Dimitri. Charles and Aaron ran to the front line as Apollo continued to fire at some Omnics that tried to flank them.

"Thank goodness it's dark out." Charles said over the gunfire. "What do you mean?" Apollo asked. Charles smiled at him as his head began to turned bright red until it melted off to reveal a skeleton, making Apollo's eyes widen. Charles's skull and bone hands erupted in Hellfire as he sighed and cracked his head in relief.

"Finally, freedom." The skeleton said before glancing over at the Omnic army. "I hate you Charles." The Rider said before looking at the surprised army.

"You guys defend this, leave the artillery guns and tanks to me." He said as he walked over to a tank and climbed to the top. Opening the door, he pointed behind him, ordering the men to exit the vehicle.

"I'm taking this." He said. "S-Sure man." The operator said climbing out along with the rest of the crew. The Rider jumped in and shut the door before infusing his Hellfire into the tank.

"Haha! Out of the way tin cans!" The Rider shouted with glee. Aaron and Apollo sat down and stared at the Hellfire tank in awe.

"You didn't tell me Charlie was like this." Apollo said watching the tank crushing Omnic after Omnic as he paved his way to their artillery guns.

"You get used to it, but I don't think I've seen him do something like this." Aaron replied. "Alright, continue your attack brothers and sisters! Victory is nearly at hand!" Zarya shouted, firing particle bombs.

"Artillery guns in my sight, the tanks have been taken care of." The Rider reported. "Good, we've soften the battalions. Just get rid of those guns and we'll be able to expand our defenses against them." Zarya replied.

"Understood." The Rider replied. The defense rushed forward and began to push the Omnics back. Zarya covered Apollo in a barrier as he dropped his rifle and placed on special gauntlet created for him from Volskya Industries.

"Those are new." Aaron said vaulting over a barrier and firing at the soldiers trying to regroup and advance. Apollo ran forward and punched the Omnics, causing some to shatter and others to slam into barriers.

"HAHA! This is so much better than sitting in an office." The man said with a grin on his face. "Don't try to kill yourself again, I don't want to have to save you again from a tank." Zarya yelled to him. Aaron pulled out the Patriot and let loose a torrent of bullets that ripped the Omnics to shreds. After the last Omnic soldier fell dead. The Hellfire tank rolled in front of the Russian army before transforming back to a regular tank. The Rider opened the top and hopped out of the small tank before cracking his jaw back into place.

"Damn, who knew a Hellfire infused tank could have such a recoil." The Rider said rubbing his bottom jaw.

"What the hell are you?" Zarya asked. "Isn't it obvious? I'm a demon that Charles here sold his soul to so he could save his sister." The Rider said. Charles's skin regrew back onto his skull and hands as the Hellfire disappeared.

"Well, about that recruitment?" Charles asked jumping off the tank.

~Lawson~

Grief stood by the window as the door opened to show Dimitri, Charles, and Aaron. "Hey Atticus." Aaron said nodding to the tactian.

"Good evening Aaron, or should I say 'Arsenal'?" He asked walking up to them. "How long did it take you too figure that one out?" Aaron asked crossing his arms.

"I'm just glad you're doing something productive after the break up." Atticus  said patting him on the shoulder.

"Atticus my friend, how has the simple life been treating you, well I hope?" Dimitri asked with a grin. "It's been well my Russian friend. how has Russia been treating you?" Atticus asked.

"Oh it's been great, fighting those Omnics back home has helped our country against this new Crisis." Dimitri replied.

"That's good to hear soldier." Lawson said in the doorway. The group turned and saluted the J-SOC Commander.

"At ease Units, let's get down to business." A female voice said. "I know that voice." Charles said. Lawson turned to show Barnes in her Unit uniform, ready for anything.

"Miss me chums?" She asked with a grin. Aaron walked over to her and hugged her tightly. "I miss you too Aaron, you and your crazy gun inventions." Barnes said breaking the hug and patting his shoulder.

"Why are we getting the Unit back together?" Atticus asked. "Project Avatar is back in business. Talon scumbags kidnapped Agent Mercy and tortured her for the formula." Charles answered.

"And who are you?" Barnes asked walking over to him. "You know me Chloe, my sister does have quiet the mouth on her." Charles replied.

"Charles Williams, it's been too long. You were such a small boy talking with Aaron here." Barnes said nudging the weaponsmith.

"So, we know Talon now has the formula for creating freaks like Fire and Snow, we'll have to be ready." Lawson said.

"Can we ease on the wordplay Commander, they are my parents after all." Charles said. "Sorry Charlie, but they attacked and nearly killed my squad. I'll call them how I see them." Lawson said.

"Then perhaps I should call your 'Unit' a group of secretive thugs that did the dirty work Overwatch didn't have time to take care of because they were busy fighting a war that Dimitri is trying to stop again." Charles spat. Lawson turned on his heel and stalked over to Charles.

"This is my jurisdiction, your 'parents' nearly killed Barnes and Manhattan or should I also remind the fact Talon almost killed Overwatch and you two." Lawson replied. Charles grabbed Lawson's collar and glared at him.

"I wouldn't want to piss me off, you wouldn't like me if I'm angry. Mortal punk." Charles growled as his voice became darker.

"Charles! Stand down!" Barnes said walking over to the two men and pulling Charles off of the Commander.

"Like I said, watch the word play about my family." Charles said before leaving. "Damn, what happened to him?" Atticus asked.

"You remember that fire skeleton from the news?" Aaron said. "Yeah." "That is him." Apollo finished.

"So, the spirit of a demon lives within him." Lawson said. "Yeah, and I agree with Charles, watch the word play Commander, or I might not be there to save you from his wrath. They were gone when he and Jennie were children." Aaron replied walking after Charles.

"I have to agree with them sir, it has been too long. For him, that's quite a long time without a mother or father. The trauma he endured, you should ease up next time." Barnes said.

"I'm sorry, I guess it has been too long. I've been with the higher ups for much too long." Lawson replied walking to the window.

"Whatever you say, I just want to make sure no more of those freaks are created." Apollo said cracking his knuckles.

"Roger that Apollo, let's get cracking." Lawson said with a smile.

~Secret Talon HQ~

"Madam Widowmaker, we've perfected the serum!" A scientist said walking over to the assassin.

"Good, we are now on schedule." Widowmaker said walking to the observation and overseeing the project.

"Our first successful test subject has been brainwashed and ready for your command Widowmaker." The scientist said. Widowmaker left the room and entered the test room. A man strapped to the table groaned in pain.

"W-where am I?" He asked. "What did you find about his power?" She asked the scientist. "Well, he would be useful against armored individuals. His power is corrosive acid. He would also useful for infiltrating heavily armored buildings." The scientist said.

"Good work, prep him for the brainwashing and continue Project Avatar." Widowmaker said leaving.
