Chapter 33
Charles stood in the training room as visions came back from his fight with Jackson. As if on cue, the sword he had retrieved appeared on his back. He grasped the handle as he withdrew it from it's sheathe, the light glinting off the steel blade. He brought it to his face as the light slipped down the side, showing the face of the Rider.
"You alright Charlie?" A voice asked in the doorway, causing Charles to drop the blade as he turned to see who talked.
"Oh, hi Genji." He said exhaling. Charles bent over and grabbed the blade. He could feel the evil coming from it.
"Ah, the 火の怒り (Hi no ikari) (Anger of Fire)" Genji said. "You've heard of it?" Charles asked. Genji nodded as he walked forward.
"A clansman of ours told me the story of such a blade." Genji said opening his hand. Charles handed the blade to him. Genji gripped the hilt as he twirled it about.
"Legend says that it can kill a Skeletal fire being." Genji said. "You're not wrong there." The Rider spoke, causing Genji to look at Charles.
"Hmm, glad to see the blade is in safe hands and not the enemies. Especially my clan." Genji said tossing the blade to him. Charles caught the hilt as the blade ignited.
"Whoa." The two of them said in unison. 'When in the possession of a Rider, it utilizes the user's Hellfire.' The Rider informed him.
"That's amazing!" Charles said slashing the blade in front of him. "Heh, feel like sparring Charlie?" Genji asked unsheathing his dragonblade and twirling it around. Charles grinned as he stepped back and leveled his blade towards the ninja.
"Thought you'd never asked, loser buys ramen." He said. "Deal." The two circled the training room before Genji dashed forward, slashing down with his green blade.
'Parry, then jab!' The Rider said. Charles parried Genji's slash, stepsided, then jabbed at his breastplate. Genji back up as he glanced down to see a scratch on it.
"Not bad, I can see my training paid off." Genji said smirking under his mask. "I've had an awesome teacher." Charles said. He dashed forward, feigning then attacking his right side. Genji double jumped and dashed forward, clanging against Charles's sword. The two back up as they continued to trade blow after blow. Charles breathed heavily as he twirled the blade, running forward and slicing Genji's armor again.
"Muda Muda!" Genji shouted. He drew out three shuriken and threw them at Charles. "Don't you 'Muda Muda' me!" Charles retorted. He deflected the three shurikens and ran forward. He blocked the slash, jabbed the blade into Genji's hands, twisting, and throwing it out of his hand. He kicked Genji to the ground and thrusted the blade under his chin.
"Looks like you *huff* owe me *huff* lunch." Charles breathed out heavily. He grabbed his hand and pulled him up, sheathing his blade. He looked at the ninja and laughed.
"Looks like the pupil, beats the master." He joked. Genji looked at him and laughed along. "You still have a lot to learn, my small ninja." Genji said getting him into a headlock and rubbing his head. The two laughed as they left for the hangar. Angela, Lena, and Aaron walked over and watched the two enter the hangar.
"Ah, ah, ah! Where do you think you're going?" Angela asked. Charles and Genji looked at her.
"Getting ramen, the safest place for us to get some would be in Hanamaru." Genji said. Angela looked at Lena and Aaron as the two walked away.
"Fine, just don't attract any unwanted attention. Bad enough everyone knows about you Charlie." Angela said sighing. Charles walked over to her and kissed her good bye, leaving for a small ship. The ship hovered as it launched into the air.
"So, how is it with you and Angela?" Genji asked. "Oh, it's been good. Why do you ask?" Charles replied.
"Just that, I may have had, feelings for Ms. Ziegler. I'm just glad you make her happy." Genji said.
"Genji, I didn't know." Charles said. "It doesn't matter anymore, all that matters is that she is happy with you." Genji said. Charles leaned forward and placed a hand on the smooth metal of his shoulder.
"I'm sure you would have made her an even happier person." Charles said. Genji let ship fly on autopilot and removed his mask. He shifted in his spot as he smiled at Charles.
"My little ninja, you've made me happier knowing Angela is safe and with an amazing person. Just promise me you'll keep her happy." Genji said. Charles smiled at the young Shimada and nodded.
"I will, Master Genji." Charles replied as the ship landed in the airport. The two exited as they wandered the streets of Hanamaru.
"Ahh, I remember fun memories here. Playing in the arcade, eating at Rikamaru's Rame Shop, and...Playing in Shimada castle with my brother." He said looking at the castle as it stood out in front of the town. The ornate carvings and broading colors. Genji sighed as the two walked into the ramen shop. The owner waved at them.
"Hahaha! Welcome to Rikamaru's Ramen Shop, what can I get you today?" He asked. "I'd like two bowls of your greatest ramen!" Charles said placing a few zeni on the table. The man nodded as he left for the kitchen. Charles sat down next to Genji as the cyborg ninja sighed.
"What's wrong?" Charles asked. "I feel like an outcast, even among my own people." Genji replied.
"You're not an outcast Genji." The cook said, causing Genji to turn to him. "How do you know who I am?" He asked. The cook returned with two bowls of ramen and smirked at him.
"You'd think I'd forget about the small energetic Shimada? I remember when you were just a small boy, Sparrow." He said.
"I haven't heard that embarrassing nickname in a long time." Genji said removing his mask to reveal his scarred face. The cook looked at him before sighing.
"I'm so sorry this has happened to you, Genji." The cook said. "It's alright Mr. Rikamaru, I did this on my own free will. I wasn't going to let my clan hurt these innocent people." Genji said.
"And I'm glad you did, after your fight with your brother, Hanzo put himself in self exile. Heeding your words, he became obsessed with redeeming himself for what happened to you. Even now, he still haunts himself for what happened that day." The man said. Genji looked at him and smiled.
"Now then, enjoy the ramen. On the house!" The cook said laughing. Charles and Genji looked at each other as their eyes sparkled.
"THANK YOU!" They said before slurping the noodles. The cook laughed as he watched the two eat furiously.
"Ah, that was the best ramen I have ever had." Charles said. "You and me both." Genji replied. The door opened, causing the two to turn and see an archer walk in. He sat a few feet away from the two, at the same time Genji placed his mask on.
"Mr. Rikamaru, I'll have a green tea." The man ordered, placing a few zeni on the counter. The cook nodded as he walked to a kettle and poured the drink in a cup and walked over to the archer, placing his order in front of him.
"Greetings." He said to Genji and Charles. "Evening, great weather it is outside, isn't it?" Charles replied.
"Indeed, in hopes tomorrow it will be the same." The man said. "I'm Charles Williams, nice to meet ya." Charles said with a grin.
"I am Hanzo Shimada, I've seen you on the news. You're what the people are dubbing 'The Ghost Rider', right?" Hanzo asked.
"Yeah, Hanamaru seems to be a safe place for me, without the press in my face all the time." He said.
"It is nice to be here again. But, it still haunts me." He said frowning. "Don't get worked up Hanzo, no matter what happened, you're still welcomed here and in my shop." Mr. Rikamaru said.
"Thank you." Hanzo said finishing his tea and turning to walk out. He stopped and glanced at Charles and Genji. Charles waved good bye as the cyborg nodded.
"Actually, Charles, would you like to see the sights?" He asked. "Sure, c'mon Genj-Gerald. Lets go." He said nudging Genji.
"Huh? Oh, uh sure." He replied. "The more the merrier." Hanzo said opening the door and holding it for the other two.
"Goodbye, come again soon!" Rikamaru said. "Will do, and I'll bring more money on your amazing ramen!" Charles said smiling. Rikamaru laughed as the trio left.
"Is this your first time in Japan?" Hanzo asked the two. "No, but Gerald here has been here before. Isn't that right?" Charles asked elbowing Genji.
"Huh? Oh right." He replied. "Hmmm, you seem familiar Gerald." Hanzo said stopping in front of them.
"Do I?" Genji asked. "Nevermind, I guess your voice threw me off." Hanzo said as they appeared in front of Shimada Castle. the three noticed a couple guards with weapons.
"Keep going. Nothing to see here." One said. "Beat it, tourists." Another said. Charles stopped and turned to face the guard.
"Maybe you should so some respect if you ever want consumers to come in." He spat. "What'd you say punk?" He said walking over to them.
"I said 'Maybe you should so some respect', do you have ramen in your ears?" Charles growled. The man aimed his weapon at Charles before Hanzo stepped in front of them.
"Stand down." He ordered. The guard looked at Hanzo before moving away. "You're lucky the elder Shimada is with you. Or I would have set you in your place." He growled.
"I'd love to see you try." Charles said. "Enough Charles, I came to show you the sights, not start a fight with these guardsmen." Hanzo said.
"I was just kidding, besides, they are cowards hiding behind automatics." Charles said placing his hands behind his head and walking away. Hanzo sighed before catching up with them.
"If you do that again, you will be kicked out of town." He said. "He started it, he should have been more polite to tourists." Charles said. "I agree." Genji said. Hanzo sighed before glancing at his watch.
"I apologize, I've got something to do. Please accept my apologies." Hanzo said bowing. He turned and left, leaving Genji and Charles to roam around.
"*yawn* it's getting late, let's head back to the ship." Charles said stretching. "I'll catch up." Genji said climbing a building.
"Or just ditch me. Oh well, I'll go see what he's up to." Charles said following the ninja. "I wonder where he's going?" He wondered aloud. He ran across the top of the buildings and noticed Genji crouching on a small building.
'What are you up too?' He wondered following the ninja. He passed by injured guards. Rushing past the two, he heard commotion. Running to the side of the entrance, he glanced in too see Genji and Hanzo fighting.
'Why are they fighting.' "To honor someone you murdered!" Genji shouted. 'Murdered?' The Rider asked.
'Pfft, you're asking me?' Charles replied. He watched them until Genji dashed to balcony, the archer following close behind.
"What the?" He wondered running to the other entrance. He glanced in to see the archer slid and grab an arrow.
"Ryuuga wagateki wo kurau!" The archer shouted. Charles watched as two blue spirit dragons emerged, racing there way towards Genji.
'I got to do something!' Charles thought as he went to leave his spot before see Genji unsheathe his blade.
"Ryūjin no ken wo kurae!" He shouted as a green spirit dragon emerged to face the two blue head on. Charles watched as Genji's spirit dragon guided the two blue dragons and forced them back at the archer. Charles dashed behind the bottom part of the balcony as the spirit dragons passed over his head.
'That was close, but Genji needs our help!' The Rider said as the Anger of Fire appeared on his back. Gripping the handle, Charles jumped over the side and landed behind the archer. He pulled the sword out of his scabbard and aimed it at the archer.
"Free-, uh what's going on?" Charles asked as Genji sheathed his blade. Glancing behind him, the archer stared at Charles.
"What is the meaning of this?" The archer demanded. "Charlie, why are you here?" Genji asked. "I got bored and decided to follow you, to realize you started a fight without me?" Charles said sheathing the blade. It disappeared in flames as Charles crossed his arms.
"Can someone explain to me what is going on? Why did the two of you summon giant, glow, noodles?" Charles asked.
"T-They're dragons." Genji said. "Whatever, why were you two attacking one another?" He demanded.
"Well, this Omnic was going to tell me something." The archer said glaring at Genji. Genji removed his mask as Hanzo stared at him.
"G-Genji?" He asked. Charles watched the scene unfold. Genji placed the mask back on and walked over to him.
"It's not too late to change your course, Brother." He said. "But, what if I can't. I can never forgive myself for what I did." Hanzo said.
"Search your heart, it's never too late to change. I just pray you do in time. Let's go Charles." Genji said as he walked away, Charles walking along. The two jumped one building after building until they reached the airport and boarded the waiting ship.
"I apologize if I walked in on a difficult situation." Charles apologized. "It's alright, I have a feeling if you didn't show, he might've killed me or try to." Genji replied.
"Still friends Carrot top?" Charles asked. "Friends? No." Genji said. "What?" "Brothers." Charles raised an eyebrow as he stared at the back of Genji's head. He smiled and sighed.
"Alright, Oniisan." Charles said. "No, none of that weeaboo shit!" Genji snapped. "Aw, why not? Your country did create anime." Charles retorted.
"Not all Japanese people are weebs." Genji said before laughing lightly. "But you make an exception." Charles's eyes shone with happiness.
"Okay Oniisan!" Charles said. 'I've made a terrible mistake.' Genji thought as he piloted the ship back to base.
~Hanzo~
Hanzo walked the streets of Hanamaru, now that he was able to seek forgiveness he began to tear down all his father created.
"From this point on, the Shimada Clan will pay for their misdeeds." He said notching an arrow and fired it at an Omnic guard that was harassing a family. He jumped down and glared at the rest of them. With a grin, he cracked his knuckles and ushered them forward.
"The time of the crime family of the Shimada's is over." He said as the group turned and ran at him.
A/N: Got some action, but some family time between Genji and Charles. I hope you guys enjoyed it! I know I did. Until next time, tata for now!
