The cut burned as I hid near a bush. I needed to get back to Duncan's castle, I would be safe there. I pulled the dress of my body, leaving my corset and shorts, it was to suspicious to be wearing a good dress.

"Why would I get a happy end anyway." I sighed sliding my back down a tree and sitting at its base. I pulled the cast of my arm and smeared some dirt on it, making it seemed dirtied from days of no shelter. I pulled the ribbon from my hair letting grime and dirt filter in through the air.

"Let's face reality." I whispered walking towards the great stone building.

"Jac!" Nilesy yelled from the porch, running to me and lifting me.

"We were so worried!" He exclaimed as I smiled.

"What happened to your face, I can see the bone!" Duncan yelled running down the steps and examining my cheek.

"It was a wolf." I said gently as they led me inside, I was finally safe, at least in my mind.
