Chapter Eight
"Wait what do you mean?" Ana asks not sure she heard him right.
"Everything is blurry. Like I can't actually see, but there is gray, black, and some white all mixed it. Everything is just one big blob, but it's not all black." He says and continues to turn his head. He has to close his eyes though because the burliness is making him gain another headache and makes his eyes water.
"Has this ever happened before?" Ana says smiling not even counting her words.
"No. No never. I don't understand." He says opening his eyes again. "This must have been why my head hurt last night. Something was happening with my eyes." He says and Ana smiles as he looks around him.
"Can you make anything out?" She questions. He shakes his head.
"I can't describe it. It's just like blurry and colorless, but this is the most I've ever been able to see in years." He says and closes his eyes again. "Having them open makes my head hurt and eyes water though."
"Well, when I don't have glasses or contacts that's what happens. I don't know if should work that same for you though." She says confused. "Let's go ask your brother," Ana says. Mason keeps his eyes closed and walks back up.
When they walk through the doors Grace and David are up and drinking coffee. "Um..David?" Ana says. He looks at her and raises his eyebrows.
"I see something." He says for her. David chokes on his coffee.
"Wh-what?" He asks setting it down.
"It's not much. All blurry and black and white. But having my eyes open causes me a headache and my eyes to water." He says. David's already off his set and walking over to Mason. He guides Mason to a chair and uses his flashlight to see in his eyes.
"I don't understand," David says as he continues to shine light into Mason's eyes. "You're pupils are reacting to the light. Not at lot, but still." David says astonished.
"Could my sight come back?" Mason asks.
"I don't know. It could go back to you not being able to see or to you having 20/20." He says still in amazement. He then glances at the clock. "Oh shiiiteee." He says making up a word as Ana glared at him. "We are late. I try and figure some stuff out bro." He says as he and Grace rush to grab all of their things.
"I can't believe this happened," Mason says and brings his hand to his face. "I wish I could see you." He says putting his hand down. Ana doesn't know what to say.
"Maybe in the future." She says and grabs herself a cup. After the eight time, she can put ice in it. She then takes her cup, only four times and walks to sit across from Mason.
"Why do you like eating ice?" He asks in a light voice.
"I don't really know. I just like the coldness." Right as Ana finishes her sentence she starts to see another vision.
Anastasia, if you take one more ice cube I'm going to throw you through the window. Her mom yells at her. Anastasia removes her hand from the ice tray, hops down from the counter, and stomps to another room. "What's with you?" A boy asks.
"Mom won't let me grab any more ice." She says with a pout. The boy then grins and she looks at him confused. "What?"
"She said you can't get any more ice. That doesn't mean I can't." He says making her smile. She nods her head vigorously. She watches as the boy quietly walks to the kitchen. He runs to each wall and pretends he's a spy. He gets on the counter and opens the freezer. He quickly grabs the ice. "Mason James." The little boy then sprints off the counter and tries to put all the ice in Anastasia's cup before grabbing her and yanking her up the stairs with him. They run from her mom and go into there little hideout. They laugh as they hear her Mom yelling at them.
Ana stares at Mason. They were in the same pack. They've known each other. They were the best of friends. "Ana. Ana, what happened? Did you see something?"
"Yeah," She whispers and then gains her voice back. "Yeah. Yeah. We-we were in the same pack." She says and Mason blinks then blinks again.
"What?"
"In the vision. My mom yelled at a little boy. She yelled Mason James. She yelled your name." Ana says trying to process.
"You said everyone died though." He says not understanding.
"Well I thought everyone was. You and your brother must have got away somehow." Ana says trying to piece everything together.
"That doesn't make sense. My parents are alive and are living in North Carolina." Mason says and stands up from his seat.
"We should call them." Mason turns toward her voice.
"Call my parents." He groans.
"What's wrong with calling your parents?" She questions.
"There...just. I apologize in advance." He says and sits back down.
"What's there phone number?" Ana asks grabbing her phone. She then looks up at him after turning it on.
"828-266-9765." He says and starts tapping his foot. Ana then puts the phone on speaker, twice.
"Hello." A bright voice says.
"Hi, mom it's me. Mason." He says and waits for her to respond.
"You little twerp. You and your brother are in so much trouble. Why didn't you two call us? It's been months. You can't do that to me. John, Mason's on the line." We hear her yell.
"Mom, I have.... a question." He says trying to word it nicely.
"Oh no. What did you to do now?" She groans.
"No, it wasn't like that." Mason says annoyed.
"Mrs.Hall, we just want to know something about...the past." Ana says and Mason looks up sharply. He shakes his head and then the line gets loud.
"Mason you better pick up this phone right now." She yells and Ana hands it to him. She watches as he winces.
"Well yes. But-" He stops listens. "I-...well it's not like-" He continues to abruptly stop in his sentences. "You guys don't need to-" He then puts the phone on the table. "My parents are coming here and they'll be here is about 12 hours." He says lets his head hit the back of the chair.
"So. what do we plan on telling them-them?" Ana asks and he moves his head again.
"Well if she ever lets me talk. Something about your dreams and how you can't remember anything would the most important info." He says and the more he thinks about it the more he feels he needs to talk to Grace.
"I'm going to catch up on some class work-work." She replies and Mason nods. He's trying to think about what Grace had said the other day. How could there be a prophecy about there unborn daughter?

"Grace, can I talk to you?" Mason asks when he heard them walk in.
"Sure." She says and follows him outside. He paces and Grace gets nervous. "What is it?"
"What if you're right? Ana..today she said that she was playing with a little boy and that her mother had said, Mason James. What if we are from the same pack and were supposed to be killed?" He says and Grace is speechless.
"She said, Mason James?"
"That's what Ana had said." He replies and stops pacing.
"You should tell her about this, it-"
"No. We don't even know if it's true and if it is that will just cause a lot of stress. It also means if she's found out then there will be a target on her back."
"Not just her."
"Hey, Mom's here." David says stepping outside. Grace and Mason walk back in. Mason not really paying any attention. All of a sudden he feels a bone-crushing hug.
"My little boy." He hears his mom.
"Hi mom." He says breathlessly. He hopes she doesn't chew him out again.
"Well we all have a lot to talk about." She says releasing him. He then realizes Ana's not in the room. He notices the missing scent and heart beat. He makes his way back to his room and can tell she's nervous.
"Ana." He says softly and pushing the door closed.
"What if they hate me? I can't-"
"Ana don't even go there. You're perfect to me and that's all they care about." He holds his hand out. Ana stands and puts her shaky hand in his.
"Ok-ok." She replies and they walk out. They hear a conversation and walk into the living room.
"Oh, my." He hears his mother. "You boys got too lucky." She says making both girls blush. "They're both too beautiful." Making their cheeks even redder. Both girls then mumble a thank you. "So tell me. How did this lovely girl meet my little boy?" She questions.
"Well, um...David was there to...break up with my roommate and had brought Mason with. I was rushing down the stairs and had run into him. Things just went from there." She says taking a seat next to Grace and David.
"Wow, fun fun." She says and then she starts asking more questions. Ana doesn't talk much and just laughs and smiles. Mason squeezes Ana hand hoping to reassure her.
The family talks for a while and Mason is waiting for the right time to ask the question. He had put glasses on so he could close his eyes without this Mom and Dad asking questions. He hears Ana start with a coughing fit.
"Are you ok?" He hears his Dad ask.
"Yeah, just coming off a cold." She says and takes a few depth breaths to calm her down.
"Hey, um...I want to ask you that question." Mason says and Grace sits up more. She grabs David and pulls him into more into the conversation.
"What is it?" His mother asks.
"I don't really know how to put it." He pauses. "Do you remember much about our pack?" He says and both of his parents give him a questioning look even though they know he can't see.
"Well, what do you mean?" His Dad replies.
"What I mean is...Ana gets theses flashback of her old pack....and....she says that she heard her mom say....Mason James." Ana watches there reactions. They both look at each other trying to decide something.
"We didn't know an Ana. We were also the only people to survive. We were gone on a trip when we heard the news." His Mom says and Ana knows it's her turn.
"What about an Anastasia?" She asks. Both parents perk up at the name.
"Anastasia Fairchild?" Mason's Father asks.
"That's me." She replies.
"We thought you died with your mom. Everyone was dead when we got there." She says. Mason's confused know.
"I thought there weren't any bodies?" He asks.
"What do you mean? Of course, there were. That's why we left and never went to another pack." Mason's Dad, John replied.
"We saw your body Anas-Ana." She pauses. "You were next to your mom. She was over your body, but you were both gone. We checked your pulse." Kelly, Mason's mom said.
"I wasn't by my mom. I was locked in the backroom closet. I had blackout in the closet and when I woke up the old pack doctor was there. He had taken me." Ana says confused.
"What did he look like?" John asks.
"He's a tall and skinny guy. Dark hair and brown eyes. He also has dark skin." She says and there faces turn pale.
"Our doctor had blond hair was short and pale. We don't know who got to you, but they weren't from our pack." Kelly replies. Ana's face turns pale with theres.
"You said you didn't feel her pulse, that's not possible," Mason says putting his arms on his knees.
"She wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse I can promise you that," John says. Grace then butts into the conversation.
"Mr. and Mrs. Hall, is she the chosen women?" Grace asks and Mason sharply turns toward her. Ana looks at the four of them confused.
"How do you know about that?" John asks turning cold.
"The stories about your pack had gone to every other one. Is it true?" Grace says. Ana looks at them.
"Is what true? What chosen one?" She asks. Grace looks at Mason making Ana turn her head.
"Anastasia is the chosen one," Kelly replies.
"Only the top ranks and close family and friends knew though. It doesn't make sense how others found out about it." John finishes.
"I don't understand. What do you mean I'm the chosen one-one?" Ana says looking at everyone. David seems to be just as lost as she is though. "Someone had better start talking-talking."
"The chosen one is supposed bore a child that will change werewolf history. Your daughter is destined to not only defeat the Night Pack but also is told to change how we live. I was told that their pack had found that the mother would live in your pack so they came and killed everyone. But that doesn't make sense because there are four of you from the same pack and Ana you say you can't remember anything, but what you do remember doesn't correspond to what you two say happened." She says looking over at the Hall's.
"So what you're telling me is that a child I haven't even had is what got most of my pack killed and a possible target on our back?" She says looking around the room. She watches as they nod their heads. "Well, I'm just gonna take a walk and...yeah-yeah." Ana says and makes her way outside.
"This is why I didn't want the whole prophecy thing out in the open." Mason says and stands up.
"She deserved to know what we thought, it's about her anyway," Grace says in defense. Mason just huffs.
"So, I'll just go start on dinner," Kelly says and makes her way to the kitchen. John follows his mate and the other three just stand there.
"I'm gonna go talk to her." Mason says and starts his way outside. It takes him a while, but he finds her deep into the forest.
