Chapter Nine

"Ana," Mason says and takes a seat next to her.

"My whole pack could be dead because of me-me." She says in a shaky voice.

"No, it's not your fault. You didn't do anything to cause an attack." He says and feels Ana lean on his shoulder.

"My family is gone and you guys would have been too-too." She says and Mason shakes his head.

"The only one to blame is the murders that did it," Mason says and puts his arm around her.

The two of them stay quiet and just listen to the sounds around them. That is until David mindlinks that the dinner is done.

"They say that dinner's done," Mason says quietly. Ana shuffles to her feet.

"Well let's go see what food your mother made-made." Ana says as they then make there way back to the house.

Once Ana gets into the house Kelly and John notice how she does thing numerous times and are getting curious. "Honey, are you ok?" Kelly asks.

"Oh, yeah...just fine." She says and taking a seat and staying in her seat. Kelly and John both share a look. Mason midlinks to them. She has OCD, don't make her uncomfortable. Both parents look back at Ana. She's continuing to grab the spoon for the eight time. She still has all those medical issues? Kelly mindlinks back. I thought her wolf would have helped cure those. John adds. Well it didn't ok. Any issues yremember she probably still has. Mason sighs and takes his seat by Ana.

Once everyone has their food Grace starts the conversation. "So, why did you guys come down here so quick." She says and then takes a bite of her food.

"Well I heard that you both," She looks at both boys "had mates and neglected to tell us, so to see both of you young ladies and talk to our boys we decided to come down." She says glaring at her sons. Ana notices that although Mason's blind his parents still do things as if he can see.

"I didn't neglect to tell you, I just...couldn't find your number." David tries and Mason begins shaking his head.

"Really?" He nods, "Your brother has me in his contacts." This gets the whole table in a lighter mood and everyone is laughing at the end of dessert.

"Well, I'm tired and going to head to bed." Kelly says. Mason and David both perk up. David smiles as his parents leave and then rushes over to Mason.

"Ready." A nod from Mason. "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot." They both have scissors.

"What are you two doing?" Grace asks.

"When our parents stay over they go in the old guest room which is David's and then we rock paper scissors to see who's on the couch," Mason replies quickly before going again. He gets paper, while David puts rock.

"Mason 1. David 0." Ana says smiling. They play until 10. "Mason 9. David 9. Last round." she says watching them.

"Rock. Paper. Scissors. Shoot." Grace cheers as she sees Mason had scissors and David has rock.

"Mason 9. David 10." Ana laughs as Mason slumps down and David cheers.

"Brat." Mason mumbles. David and Grace make there way to Mason's room. "Don't get all funny." Mason yells making Grace stop laughing. Mason chuckles as he hears her heart rate picked up a bit.

"Alright come on-on." Ana pulls Mason up. They grab the extra pillow and blankets.

"Hey, wanna take a walk?" Mason asks.

"Sure, but I'm stealing your sweatshirt." She says seeing it on the couch. Mason shrugs in response but feels like a giddy girl.

"Why did you wanna take a walk-walk." She says as she swings there hands.

"Just felt like getting some fresh air." He replies. Ana smiles as they make their way further into the forest.

When they are deep enough Ana pulls her hand away and moves behind a tree. "You're gonna have to find me." She replies before running again.

Mason laughs lightly and then starts after her.

Ana holds her laughs in as she sees Mason step out from a tree. "I can hear your heartbeat you know." He says and makes his way towards her. She laughs and takes off again.

While he's trying to catch her, he wants to sneak up on her. He hears her breathing and can smell his scent on her thanks to the sweatshirt. He soundlessly walks up behind her and then reaches out.

Ana screams, but starts to laugh. "Big meanie." She says and he holds her close.

"I thought it was funny." He says and Ana rolls her eyes. As she stares up at him, she has an urge to kiss him. Her wolf isn't complaining.

Mason hears her heart rate pick up and as he's about to ask what's wrong when he feels her lips on his. Surprise takes him at first but then pulls her closer to him.

Ana breaks the kiss then. "I need some air." She says laughing. Mason smiles and they rest their heads together.

"So, what was that for?" Mason questions as there breath mixes.

"Just had the urge." She replies with a small smile.

"Well I like that urge and you can do it whenever." He says making Ana laugh. "I have the urge also though." He says and then kisses her. Although it wasn't supposed to go further than a little kiss Mason deepens it.

"Oh whatever," Ana says and hits him.

"Well, it is true." He replies with a shrug. Ana rolls her eyes at him. They walk back into the house. "Shhh." He says chuckling. Ana again lightly slaps him. They make their way to the couch. Ana turns the TV on. "Why do you always sleep with the tv on?" Mason asks getting comfortable.

"Makes it easier for me to go to sleep. Helps the noises in my head cease." She replies laying with her back to Mason. Mason wraps his arm around her and pulls her into him.

"You don't go back to work until next week right?" Mason questions.

"Yeah. Why?"

"Just wanted to know." He simply replies. Ana shifts a little and then they are off to sleep.

"They're too cute." Mason barely hears.

"Yeah. She let him in yesterday." Grace says noticing the mark on Ana.

"Shhh, Let them sleep." Mason realizes it's his mom's voice. Mason doesn't go back to sleep, but he holds Ana in his arms until she awakes.

"Good morning?" Ana says almost questioning it. She's turned in his arms and is looking up at him.

"Morning." He replies with a smile. Ana stretches but stays laying next to Mason.

"You're comfy." She says closing her eyes. Mason laughs pulling her fully on him. She just adjusts and lays her head back on his chest.

"You two lovebirds plan on getting up?" Kelly asks with her hands on her hips. She's smiling at them.

"Maybe." Mason replies as he hears Ana steady heartbeat already. "Most likely not." He whispers entangling his fingers in her hair.

Kelly shakes her head at the young mates and walks back into the kitchen.

"Yeah yeah." Ana stays finally up. "Not my fault I was tired." She says walking into the kitchen. She can't believe that she let him mark her last night, but she doesn't feel regret about. She smiles as her wolf talks about what happened. Shut up before you make me look like an apple. Ana says feeling her cheeks get warm.

"You guys are up?" Ana looks up towards Kelly.

"Yeah-yeah." Ana says feeling red again.

"Well the pancakes are still in the microwave. You might want to heat them up a little." Kelly says before walking out on the patio where John is.

"Yumm." Mason says. Ana puts the timer on 22 seconds and starts it twice. Once the timer is up Ana takes the plate out, but feels wrong so she has to put it in and take it out a few more times.

Mason just waits until he hears the plate on the table for the last time. He listens as she takes two pancakes. "Have you seen my medication bottle?" Ana questions looking on the counter.

"No." Mason says knowing she doesn't actually mean see and hears Ana shuffle around.

Ana walks back to Mason's room and can't find it. She empties out her bag, but still nothing. She puts her hands on her hips and tries to remember where else it could be. She checks in the bathroom and everywhere else, but still nothing. "Do you remember where you had it last?"

"Yesterday on the nightstand, I think." She says confused. She puts her hands in the sweatshirt and remembers. "I had put them in your sweatshirt last night so I wouldn't lose them." She says and walks back to the living room. She feels around on the couch and finds the bottle. "Gosh, stupid bottle-bottle." She says seeing that she only has enough for today. "And of course I need to get more." She mumbles.

"Just ask David to grab your bottle," Mason says.

"Forgot he worked there. Are you sure it's alright-alright?" Ana says playing with her fingers.

"Yeah, it'll be fine." He replies sitting back down to finish his pancakes. Ana sends a message to him before joining Mason. Ana walks over to the fridge and looks for the plain yogurt. After opening and closing the door four times and then grabbing the yogurt eight, she can finally take it back to her seat. "I don't understand how you eat that." Mason says noticing the smell.

"Plain yogurt is the best-best." Ana says taking a bite.

"There's no fruit in it." Mason says shivering. "Gross." He mumbles.

"Drama queen. It's also good with those...um..what are they called? There kinda like granola crumbles." Ana says drawing a blank.

"Yeah, no thanks." Ana smiles and her wolf plops an idea in her head.

"Mason?"

"Yeah?" He says notices her heart rate increase.

"I-I wanna call my doctor." She says fiddling with her hands.

"You mean the one that claims he's from our pack, but isn't?" He says and stops eating.

"I want to see if he can explain." She says looking up at him.

"No. That's a horrible idea. Ana this man has lied to you your whole life, what-"

"If he was going to do something, don't you think he would have already done it." She says a little annoyed that he's not on her side about it.

"Ana. He's-" He stops as his wolf barges in. She's going to call either way. Trust me. Better her not mad at you. He says and Mason knows it's the truth. "Ok. Call." He says grumpily.

Ana smiles and dials. "Hello?" She hears. "Hi. It's Ana. I..um.am having some more issues with my lungs. Could I see you-you?" She asks looking over at her sulking mate. "I'll come to you. Where are you at?" He replies. Ana looks over at Mason. He's not gonna like this. Her wolf says. "I'm at 2860 Oak Drive." She sees Mason head pop up and he shakes his head at her. "Ok, I'll be over there in little." "Ok thanks," Ana replies watching Mason talk with his wolf. "No problem."

"Why would you invite him over here? What if-"

"There is a house of wolves, nothing will happen. You don't need to be so tense." She says concerned at how on edge he seems.

He puts his bowl in the skin. "Don't get the door. I will once he's here." He replies before walking out of the kitchen. Ana stares at his back confused.
