Recap:

"So.. You're a fan of the supernatural?" Ford smiles.

I happily nod, then look at Mabel. "One species in particular.. We've met a lot of them lately.."

Once Mabel sees where I'm going with this, she quickly shakes her head in disapproval, but I was optimistic. Maybe he had seen Amanda.

"Gnomes?" Ford guesses and I shake my head.

"Mind demons." I smile

He looks a little nervous, but the nervousness quickly fades. "In that case, I have something to show you." He smiles and walks over to the still-open vending machine door. He starts to walk down into the stairwell that is behind the door and he gestures for us to follow him

The three of us follow him. Down the stairs, into a hallway, then into an elevator, and down two floors and into a small room with lots of monitors and buttons and a metal desk with a framed picture of me and Mabel resting on it.

He opens a metal sliding door and enters a large room. Inside the room was an upside down metal triangle with a hole carved in the middle, strange symbols outlining the hollow area

There were three large and tall cylinders made from glass with a metal base. They looked like they were there to contain something, but one was covered with some kind of tarp. Ford happily walks over to it. "This will also answer the question of how I got here..." He walks over to the covered cylinder. "I've been dimension hopping for thirty years, and luck finally came to my side today! It was incredibly lucky timing! In the exact dimension I had been trapped in for the past three weeks, a portal suddenly opened up and two mind demons stepped out! And coincidentally the other side of that mind demon portal led to the outside of this place. I know that there was the risk of it being a parallel dimension but I ran for it anyway, and I made it through!" He pauses. "But even better, I recognized one of the mind demons.. I tried to shoot him while I had the chance but he was dodging every shot and the portal was quickly closing. But I did manage to grab the other demon and take it with me.. They look rather similar so I'm assuming they're either accomplices or related in some way.." He places a hand on the tarp "Either way there's a good chance of that no good demon coming back to get her, and here's the best part! I had these made to cancel out mind demon abilities.. It took a long time but I was able to gather the funds to buy one in that dimension.. And the pay off has been so worth it! Any mind demon within a fifteen foot radius of this thing will temporarily lose their powers! Of course when they step out of that radius their powers return.. but still!" He smiles and rips off the tarp.

Inside the glass cylinder was a girl with blond, almost gold hair, and---

Amanda.

Me and Mabel quickly exchange panicked glances as Amanda looks between the two of us. She looks completely terrified, but relieved that we're there as she bangs a hand on the soundproof glass of her confinement

"Isn't it great?! I caught one of the in the flesh!" Ford grins happily. "Well, not really flesh.. They don't really have flesh even when in human form.. I'm not quite sure what their skin is made of but it definitely isn't flesh.." He looks at me, then at Mabel. "Something wrong?"

"Can you please release her..?" Mabel goes straight to the point

"Why would I do that?" Ford blinks in confusion

"Well you see...." I start. "She's one of the demons we met, she's a friend.

"Yeah! She doesn't deserve to be locked in a..." Mabel looks at the glass cylinder in confusion

"Cryogenic tube." I whisper

"..In a cryogenic tube!" Mabel finishes her sentence 

Ford looks quite shocked by this news. "So she's your friend..." 

Both me and Mabel quickly nod. "Please release her!" I plead 

"She's a very nice person! There's no need to contain her!" Mabel promises

Ford pauses, then sighs. "Alright... But I have to do it from in there." He point to the smaller room where we were before

"Okay!" Mabel smiles happily

Ford walks to the room and everyone else follows. I nervously look back at Amanda, who is still banging on the soundproof glass and yelling something inaudible 

As soon as we're all in the smaller room with the metal desk, Ford presses a few buttons, the releasing process takes a bit longer then expected

I look at the glass cylinder expectedly, but instead the door we had entered the room from slams shut and seals

Both me and Mabel look confused and look back at Ford, who is pressing more buttons on the console behind him

"What are you doing..?" Mabel looks confused

"I was several years older than you when this same thing happened to me... I refuse to let that same catastrophe fall on the two of you." Ford doesn't look back at us as he walks back to the elevator

"What? But.. Ford.. You have to release her!" The look of desperation on my face didn't phase him as much as I would have liked

He sighs and walks back to me, kneeling down. "She's using you.. I know that may seem hard to believe now but I promise that one day you'll thank me for this.."

"But--!"

"Please don't make a big deal of this.. I just don't want history to repeat itself." He smiles. His intentions are genuine. He looks at Mabel, who is on the verge of tears just as I am

He frowns slightly. "I promise that she's not as kind and as you think she is, she may seem innocent but that act turns around as soon as they get what they want.. It may be hard, but I'm here to help y---"

"Please don't do this!" Mabel begs once more. "She's done nothing wrong!"

Ford sighs and frowns. "Please understand that I'm doing this to avoid that demon's eventual betraya-

"For your information..." I look up at him. "I'm in love with that demon." I partially glare at him

Ford looks at me once more, and the look of pity and remorse on his face was apologetic. "I'm so sorry.." He frowns 

"There would be nothing to be sorry about if you would releases her!" It's becoming increasingly more difficult to hold back tears

"I wish she hadn't deceived you in such a cruel way.." He looks incredibly sad

"It wasn't deceit!" I yell

He sighs. "Give it some time.. Everything will sink in and you'll learn to accept this change... Mind demons can not be trusted under any circumstance, and I will not tolerate their plots to hurt the two of you.." He stands up and gently pushes the two of us forward while holding our shoulders to the elevator. "Let's go."

Both me and Mabel resist as much as possible as a very confused Grunkle Stan follows us

"Stan! Make him stop, please!" Mabel looks back at him

"Listen kiddo, I'm sorry but when it comes to the supernatural stuff like this.. Poindexter is probably more knowledgeable then any of us.." Stan admits as he nervously rubs the back of his head and enters the elevator.

I quickly look at Stan with tears falling down my face t a rapid rate "He's wrong this time-- Please don't let this happen!" 

"I'm really sorry that you two feel this way.... But I promise it's better this way. You'll see." Great Uncle Ford attempts to assure us as he offers a handkerchief for me to wipe my tears with

The doors close and the elevator slowly rises as Stan hums a monotone tune
