7.
Its been a week and I'm bored. The magnitude of my complete and utter disinterest in my surroundings has become unbearably unbearable.
That's right. I'm so bored I'm expanding my vocabulary. That's how you know things have gotten bad.
Loki got caught with a Playboy magazine and his mom added another week to his punishment.
Then Nic somehow got his seven year old neighbor to smuggle him some fruit snacks across the property line. Another week was added.
I swear it's like my friends don't want me to see them. I even tried going door to door to beg their mothers to unlock the shackles. It didn't help.
So here I am, reading the thesaurus.
That is until my mom burst into my room and started screaming at me.
"Walter I am so sick of you leaving your shit all over my house and laying in your filthy pile of filth! Get off your lazy ass and do something!"
"Like what?"
"Here's a list of errands I need to do, but since your laying here like a ball of nothingness, you can do them." She replies, tossing a little notebook in my lap and leaving the room.
I swear sometimes she just pretends to be pissed off when she doesn't want to do stuff, because my room is freaking spotless. I know because yesterday I got so bored I cleaned it.
I opened the notebook and groaned. There were at least fifteen things on here. This'll take me all day. My door swung open again. Something whizzed through the air and conked me in my forehead.
"Shit sorry baby I forgot to give you the keys and um - ahem yeah! I did that for emphasis!" She yelled before leaving again.
I rubbed my skull while reading the first thing on her list.
Drop off Debbie's potato peeler
Oh I remember Debbie. Debbie was one of mom's mom friends that aren't really her friend but act like their friends because they're moms.
Debbie lived in the town over, so I guess I better get going.
🚗
"Thanks again sweetie!"
"No problem Mrs. Debbie! Thank you for the brownie!"
I walked down her porch steps. I don't know why women don't get along. If they joined together instead of yanking out each other's hair, they could make something beautiful.
Like a ten story brownie.
Brownies are my one and only weakness.
I'm serious. If my mom was being held hostage and the only way to save her was to flush a plate of brownies down the toilet... Well... My mom's had a good life so far.
I get in the car and cross off "Get gas" and "Drop off Debbie's potato peeler".
I read the rest of the errands to see if I could group some together. After a few minutes, I ended up grouping them into "things I need to get out of the car for"
Get mail
Get groceries
Pick up boss' dry cleaning
Check in on Martha's dog
Pick up condoms
And "things I don't have to get out of the car for"
Call mom
Buy stuff online
Annoy Garrett at work
Annoy Paul at work
Annoy Vincent at work
Make lunch for work
Wow my mom is so petty sometimes. She kept the work number of all her exes and terrorizes them when she's bored. I guess I can knock out all the phone calls right n--
My thoughts were cut short as I looked up and saw old Ms. Frau sitting next to me. In my passenger seat. Scowling. She was wearing the same clothes I last saw her in: a wrinkled dirty white cardigan, a long dark and gloomy floral dress, and some house slippers.
She snarled, reveling her rotting yellow teeth and grey gums. Her hair looked more dead than ever, which made sense since she was dead, and her skin was grey and pasty. Everything about her looked dead and grey.
Just like usual.
"I hate you!" She wheezed. This shook me out of my judgemental and horrified freeze.
"Wh-what are you doing in m-my car?" I stutter, probably being as unmanly as possible. But I don't care. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would pee his pants if he was my shoes right now, so I don't wanna hear it.
"I hate you!" She yells at me louder. I try rubbing my teary eyes but she's still there.
I rip off my seatbelt and jump out of the car. I start to pull out my phone, and she appears in front of me.
"I hate you! I hate you!" She screeches, her voice making the birds fly away and goosebumps pop up on my skin.
I fell to my knees and covered my ears. I could feel my heart palvatating like crazy.
A hand rested on my shoulder.
"Get away you undead bat!" I scream, smacking Frau's hand away.
"Walter are you alright?" I heard a woman ask me.
It was Debbie. Frau was gone. The birds were still there. Did I just hallucinate all of that?
I stood up and got back in my car, telling Debbie I was fine.
On the way home I couldn't shake what'd just happened. There's no way Frau was still alive. Right? I was at her funeral. They dropped her casket and her corpse fell out in front of the pastor. She was dead.
Yeah I hallucinated it. There's no way I just saw the real Ms. Frau. No way.
Right?
