Something ran toward us from the direction that I had come from at top speed, and Declan lifted his head and growled in warning while he quickly stood from his laying position.

My hands were split apart from around Delcan's neck, and I fell to the ground with a soft thud, earning a small grunt of annoyance from me.

"Ouch," I said and laid on the ground, flicking my hand to keep the creature at bay, even though I could feel its anger toward Declan for hurting me. "Seriously?"

Declan stopped growling at whatever was coming closer to us and instantly looked down at me to see that I was laying down on the ground. He slowly blinked and looked unamused as to why I was on the ground with no explanation or warning.

I didn't meet his gaze and tried to get my breath back, not liking the fact that I was on my back with something coming toward us at a fast pace. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before I released it with a small whoosh, trying but failing to get it back quickly.

Oh, Gods...

Declan didn't say anything that I could understand before he moved until he was standing over me. He growled another warning, but the thing didn't let up and continued to run toward us before it stopped right in front of him and whined.

Declan relaxed when he saw that it wasn't a threat and moved until I wasn't underneath him, and he nudged my side so that I could open my eyes and see what was happening. He whined and nudged me when I didn't move, and the other thing snorted because of something Declan had said.

I took a deep breath and released it with a small whoosh before I shoved Declan's head away from me when he tried to nudge my side again. "Stop," I said, biting back a small groan of annoyance. "I am ok. I just need a second to catch my breath because that was a huge drop and because you had stood up quickly."

Declan snorted, and I had a feeling that he rolled his eyes. He didn't say a word that I could hear but nuzzled my side in apology, and I couldn't help but bite back a small chuckle while I rubbed his cheek.

"I forgive you," I said and opened my eyes when I felt that I was ok, and when I opened my eyes, I saw that I had two faces staring at me with both of them having their ears pricked toward me and concern in their eyes.

Declan wagged his tail when he saw that I was staring at them, and he moved back until I was able to see him fully. He looked at the other... wolf and said something to them, and I looked that way to see that the other wolf was someone else that I knew.

Patrick...

I stared at Patrick with a shock and surprise expression on my face, and Patrick must have caught the realization on my face, so his eyes grew wider, too while he looked shocked and surprised.

He took a step back, and I knew that he was about to shift back into his human form to ask me different questions but stopped when Declan growled and lurched toward him, flattening his ears to the back of his head.

I sat up and watched both wolves argue in front of me, one trying to shift into his human form to ask me questions while the other didn't want him to reveal too much in fears of me getting kicked out or them getting punished because the Alpha wouldn't like it.

Patrick growled and bared his teeth in warning and annoyance. He pressed his ears flat to his head, and he looked at Declan before he looked at me and then looked at Declan a second time.

Declan snorted and rolled his eyes. He said something to the other wolf and tucked his head closer to his chest.

Patrick rolled his eyes and growled in annoyance. He flicked his tail and said something else to the other wolf, and I could tell that he did not like that at all.

I cleared my throat, and both wolves looked at me with an annoyed look on their faces. I could tell that they didn't like the fact that I had interrupted them, but I could care less while I looked between the two of them before I looked solely at Patrick. "I don't know what's going on, or what you two are talking about, but I agree with him." I gestured toward Declan.

Declan looked smug when I said that and wagged his tail, and Patrick rolled his eyes and scowled. He said something to the other wolf before he walked over to me, and Patrick followed after him, pressing his ears to the side of his head.

"Hmph." I bit back a small smirk and stayed silent while I watched them without getting up from my seated position.

Declan rolled his eyes at me and said something to Patrick before he stopped in front of me and nuzzled my cheek. He said something to me; I could tell, but I had no idea what he said and why he said it, thinking that I could understand him.

I held back an eye roll and pressed my lips into a thin line, placing my hand on his cheek. "I don't know why you are acting like I can understand you when I can't. I am fine and am enjoying just sitting here for a bit."

Patrick rolled his eyes and walked closer to me. He reached out to touch me with his nose but stopped, his ears lowering to either side of his head while he hesitated because he didn't know if I would be comfortable with it or not.

I sighed and touched his snout with my hand before I moved my hand through his fur when he moved closer to me and relaxed. "I don't know why you stopped when you were close to touching me, but you could have touched me with your nose," I said. "As much as I hate to admit this, I trust you both, and I know that you will not do me any harm."

Both wolves wagged their tails, and it looked like a weight had been lifted off of their shoulders while they laid down with one on either side of me.

They didn't try to tell me anything and only laid there, letting me enjoy their company and peace, even though for some reason, it was short lived with nothing but another angry growl coming our way at full speed.

Both wolves jumped up in a fighting position, and they and the creature in the trees grew tense while they waited to protect me from this unknown threat.
