Chapter 4

*3rd POV*

The same girl that Adrian had given his prize to was sitting at a baseball game with her mother. She looked at the game bored out of her mind. "Mommy, how much longer?" Victoria asked her mother.

"Victoria, we came to watch the game. We're gonna watch the game." Her mother told her, causing Victoria to look back at the game. But she soon saw a light bug on her plushie. She tried to grab it, but it flew off.

She put her plushie down and went to follow the light bug, which led her under the bleachers in the darkness. As she followed it, suddenly another pair of hands grabbed it. Victoria gasped. Soon, the hands opened to show Pennywise holding the light bug.

"Hello, Vicky. Isn't that what your friends call you? Vicky? How did I know that? I guess I must be your friend, too." Pennywise said laughing. "If you're my friend why are you hiding in the dark?" Victoria asked, causing Pennywise to frown a little.

"You're not my friend. You're scary." Victoria said as he turned to leave, but Pennywise began 'crying'. Victoria stopped and faced him. "Why are you crying?" She asked him. "People always make fun 'cause of the way I look. I thought if you couldn't see my face, then maybe you'd want to be my friend. Never mind." Pennywise said before sobbing.

"Oh, silly old Pennywise, you'll never have no friends." Pennywise told himself. "People make fun of me, too." Victoria told him. "They do?" Pennywise asked. "'Cause of this." Victoria said pointing to a birthmark on her cheek.

"Well, isn't that silly? That little thing? Why, I can blow that thing right away." Pennywise told her smiling. "You could?" Victoria asked hopefully. "Oh, yes! One poof and it'd be gone! You would have to get close enough to see my face. I don't know, Vicky." Pennywise told her.

"No, it's okay. I won't make fun. I promise." Victoria said as she walked closer to him, causing Pennywise to look up at her a little. "Promise, promise?" Pennywise asked causing Victoria to nod in agreement.

"Well, okie-dokie! Just come on in a little closer, and we'll blow it away on the count of three!" Pennywise said while giggling. Victoria giggles and turned her birthmark to him. "One, two..." Pennywise said while drooling, which Victoria didn't seem to notice.

"You're supposed to say three." Victoria said, but Pennywise lunged forward biting Victoria's face, and spectators cheering blocked out any scream Victoria made... if she even did scream in the first place.

Meanwhile

A guard was sitting in the office watching a video on his phone, while on the camera, a nurse was walking weirdly on the camera and the guard noticed. He looked down the hallway and opened the door and rounded the corner.

As the nurse came through, he was bleeding everywhere. "Holy fuck." The guard said, as the nurse fell to the ground, and behind him was fucking Henry Bowers with his knife laughing. He ran out of the mental hospital.

"Fuck yeah!" Bowers said as he walked through a cut in the fence and climbed into a waiting car where the corpse of Patrick Hockstetter was. "Hey, Hockstetter. Let's go!" Bowers said cheering as Patrick began driving the car.

*My POV*

We arrived at the Inn and all ran inside. Richie and Eddie walked in after me and Beverly. "Let's get our shit and get the fuck out of here." Richie said as he began going upstairs. "Did you leave your stuff here?" Eddie asked Ben.

"No, my stuff's still in the car." Ben said. "Mine is as well." I said as I followed after Beverly with Ben. Beverly got herself a drink from the bar. Ben sat down as I stood. "Tell me." Ben said. "Tell you what?" Beverly asked.

"Whatever it is you're afraid to tell us right now." I said as me and Ben could see the awaiting tears in Beverly's eyes, who turned away and put the glass bottle back. "Bev. Bev." Ben said as Beverly began walking away and we followed.

"Back at the Jade when you were on the phone with Stanley's... She told you that she found him in the bathtub, but, Bev, we saw you. We heard it. You said it first." I said softly as me and Ben stood in front of her.

"Whatever you guys are talking about, let's make it happen faster, all right? We gotta go. Eduardo, andale! Let's go!" Richie said. "There's something you're not telling us. You knew how Stanley died. You knew." Ben said which really caught Richie's attention.

"Wait, what?" Richie asked confused. "I can't do this." Beverly whispered walking past the three of us. "Bev." I said following. "She knew how Stanley was going to die, is that what she just said?" Richie asked Ben.

"You can't just walk away from this." I said as Beverly walked to the desk and ran the bell repeatedly. "How did you know where he killed himself?" Ben asked, before Beverly walked around the counter and grabbed a key.

"Bev. Talk to me. Just talk to me. Like we used to. Come on, how did you know?" I asked blocking her path. "Because I saw it. I've seen all of us die." She whispered stunning me, Ben, and Richie.

"Okay, I just got to grab my toiletry bag, and then we can go." Eddie said as he came down with two large bags and put them down with a thud, when he noticed the tension between us. "What'd I miss?" Eddie asked as we looked at him.

*3rd POV*

Mike got out of his car as Bill parked his. Mike and Bill walked into... "The library?" Bill asked. "Mmm-hmm." Mike nodded. Bill gasped as he looked around. "Didn't this place used to be bigger?" Bill asked.

Mike began walking to the side as Bill looked at an artifact before he noticed Mike had walked off. "Yo! M-M-Mike, where are you going?" Bill asked before he began following after Mike. Soon they reached the top of some stairs, and Bill saw a living space.

"Mike, you live here?" Bill asked confused as he looked around at the piles of books everywhere. "Yeah. Make yourself at home." Mike said as he opened his fridge door. "You want some water?" Mike asked Bill who was looking at a picture.

"Yeah, sure." Bill said as Mike began preparing Bill the water. Bill walked over and took the glass from Mike and drank it but as he did, he made a face at it, like it tasted weird. "You see, memory's the thing. It's the key. It's the key to everything." Mike explained to Bill.

"If It really does want us b-b-back here, don't you think the smartest thing we can do is just get the hell out of Derry?" Bill stutters. "No, no, no. It does want us back. Of course it does! But It doesn't know I know what I know." Mike told Bill.

"What do you know?" Bill asked. "How to kill the shit out of It! I've read every book. I've talked to every person in this godforsaken town, everybody that would talk to me, anyway, and that's not a long list. But it wasn't enough. I had to know how this all started. How It started. And It started here." Mike said handing an object to Bill.

"Whoa. What am I looking at, Mike?" Bill asked. "It's an artifact. Early 18th century Shokopiwah." Mike told Bill. "Shoko... How'd you get it?" Bill asked. "I found it, in the... No, no, they gave it to me. I stole it." Mike said.

"You stole it? From Native Americans?" Bill asked. "Uh... It's complicated." Mike told him. "Yeah, it is." Bill said agreeing. "They helped me on my journey." Mike said. "So beautiful." Bill said as he looked at the artifact.

"They should me things. A vision." Mike said as Bill somehow saw a side of the artifact move like it was a moving picture. "Ow. Holy fuck. I feel kind of funky. Hot. Am I sweating?" Bill asked as he held his head.

"I need you to see what they showed me, Bill." Mike said as Bill began seeing a vision. "They live outside of Derry. Beyond It's reach. They moved there many years ago. Their holy man, their holy of holies, he took me in. Fed me their sacred Maturin. I started to... to react." Mike explained as Bill saw it all.

"All living things must abide by the laws of the shape they inhabit." A man from the vision said. "While I saw there, looking out over the valley, I saw It arrive. I knew that one day, I would have to make you all see." Mike told Bill.

"Mike, d-did you put something in my drink?" Bill asked looking towards the glass of water he once drank out of. "It's, uh... It's a root." Mike told him in response. "You... Y-Y-You drugged me? You drugged me?" Bill stutters.

"No, it's a root with properties. It's just a micro-dose of what the Shokopiwah gave me..." Mike said. "Why would you do that?" Bill asked. "...To open my eyes." Mike continued. "I don't feel real good." Bill told him in response.

"I need you to look, and you'll see." Mike said giving Bill the artifact to hold. "I don't feel good." Bill repeated. "Open your eyes. Open your eyes. They showed me the past." Mike said as Bill went to the ground.

"Showed me the way It appeared to them. They showed me their pain. They showed me how to stop It!" Mike said as Bill was screaming at what he was seeing. Mike soon held the artifact away from Bill's face who was laying on the ground.

"It's over. It's over. You're okay. You're okay. Did you see it? The ritual?" Mike asked. "The Ritual of Chud?" Bill asked. "Yeah, I knew you... I knew you would see it." Mike said as Bill reached forward and grabbed his collar.

"I saw the whole fucking thing, Mike." Bill told him. "That's how we kill It." Mike told him as Bill let him go and leaned back. "How are we going to do it? Everybody already s-s-said no." Bill said. "But with you, they'll listen. Especially Izzy. This won't work without all of us." Mike told him as they sat on the floor.

*My POV*

I was sitting beside Beverly holding her hand as Ben was behind the bar making a drink as Richie stood off to the side, while Eddie paced back and forth processing what Beverly told us. "Okay. So, what do you mean that you've seen us all die?" Eddie asked her.

"Yeah, 'cause I gotta be honest. That's a fucked-up thing to just drop on somebody." Richie said as Beverly wiped a tear off her face. "Every night since Derry, I've been having these nightmares. People in pain. People dying. People..." Beverly said.

"So, you have nightmares. I have nightmares. People, they have nightmares. But that doesn't mean that your visions are true." Eddie said. "But no one has nightmares about people dying, Eddie." I added.

"Yeah, I have to agree with Izzy." Richie added. "I've watched every single one of us..." Beverly said but couldn't finish. "You've seen every single one of us what?" Bill asked as him and Mike appeared behind us, before he sat down next to me.

"At the place that Stanley wound up. That's how we end." Beverly said causing me to rub her back gently. "Okay, how come the rest of us aren't seeing that shit? I mean, what makes her so different?" Richie asked pointing at Beverly.

"The Deadlights." Mike said. "The Deadlights." Bill said, and I suddenly got the memory. "She was the only one of us that caught in the Deadlights that day." I said as I held Beverly close. "We were all touched by It. Changed. Deep down. Like an infection. Or a virus. A virus. You understand. Slowly growing. That virus, it's been growing for 27 years. This whole time, metastasizing. It just got to Stan first, because..." Mike began.

"He was the weakest." Richie said. "Jesus Christ, Rich." Bill said as Beverly was smoking a cigarette. "Just saying what everyone else is thinking, man." Richie said. "I mean, Rich, come on." I said.

"What Beverly sees, it will come to pass. It's what'll happen to all of us, eventually, unless we stop It." Mike said. "How the hell are we supposed to do that?" Eddie asked. "The Ritual of Chud. The Shokopiwah. The first ones who fought It, they have a saying. "All living things must abide by the laws of the shape they inhabit"." Mike explained.

"A tribal ritual? Are you fucking kidding me, man? All right, there's gotta be another way. Okay? This thing comes back, what, every 27 years? Let's just kick the can down the road and do it then." Richie said.

"Wait, we'll be 70 years old, asshole." Eddie responded to what Richie said. "It doesn't work that way. None of us make it another 20 years, and the way it happens..." Beverly said as Bill sat on the arm of the chair I was in as I hugged Beverly to calm her down.

"So, if we don't beat It this cycle, then..." Ben said. "We die." Bill and I said. "Horribly." Eddie added. "Yeah, I don't need the "horribly" part." Richie told Eddie. "I didn't say it. She said it. Not me." Eddie said gesturing to Beverly.

"All right, guys. Look. I've seen w-w-what he's talking about, and it's all true. It's the only way. If we want this ritual to work..." Bill said. "We have to remember." Mike said. "Remember what?" Richie asked.

"It's better if I show you. We don't have much time." Mike said as we began walking through the town we once grew up in, before we were in the woods. "His cycle will end soon. And once it does..." Mike explained.

"We're fucked." Eddie said. We had gotten to the woods as daybreak hit us. I looked around at the familiar placing. "The Barrens." I said. "This is where we came. After the rock fight." Ben said as we looked around.

"The clubhouse." Richie said. "You built that for us." Beverly told Ben who grinned. "Yeah, the hatch has got to be around here someplace." Richie said as him, Ben, Beverly, Eddie, and Mike walked ahead.

"You did. I do remember that!" Eddie said smiling. I tripped over a root. "Oh!" I said as I went falling. "Whoa! Whoa!" Bill said as he caught me and pulled me up. "You okay?" He asked me as we stared into each other eyes.

I nod as I laugh a little. "What?" He asked with a smile. "Nothing, it's just... You haven't changed. It's a good thing." I said chuckling as he chuckled as well. We walked together as Ben was a little ahead of us.

"You know what? I actually think the door was more like around..." Ben began before he fell through the hatch and we watched. We heard him hit the ground. "Found it. I'm okay! Come down!" Ben told us.

27 years back

We all climbed down the latter one by one as we looked around the area Ben wanted to show us. "What the dick is this? How'd you build it?" Richie asked as he walked around. "When did you build it?" Bill asked as he helped me off the ladder.

"Here and there, I guess. It was already dug out from something, so I just had to reinforce the walls and get some wood for the roof door, and that's pretty much it. Pretty good for my first time, huh?" Ben asked as he leaned against a pillar, which caused a roof behind Beverly to fall, causing us all to look at it.

Stanely yelped. "Now, that's a cool feature." I said sarcastically. "What happens when you put your hand on the other pillar, professor?" Richie asked Ben. "Okay, you see, this is exactly why there are safety codes, why we have permits. This place is a death trap. You understand that?" Eddie asked Ben.

"Well, it's a work in progress. Okay, Eddie?" Ben asked Eddie. "Just so you know, I get hurt, you are liable. And, also, what is this? The switch of an iron maiden?" Eddie asked pointing to an object that was hanging by a chain.

"That's a flashlight." I said as I leaned against a pillar that was more put together. "What is that, a horse hitch? When do you have horses down... Oh, this is cool." Eddie said as he picked up a paddle ball.

"That was like, three dollars, so be careful with that, please." Ben told Eddie. "I have one of these. Hey, Stan, you see this?" Eddie asked as he began using the paddle ball near Stan's face. "Yeah, okay, can you maybe not?" Stan asked as he tried to get the ball out of his face.

"Maybe not what? Yeah, yeah, hold on. Maybe not what? Be awesome and have fun and celebrate the magic of the paddle-ball?" Eddie asked before the paddle went flying out of his hand and the ball broke off of it.

"Wow. Oh, good going, fucknut. You broke his thing." Eddie told Stan, who looked at him like he was insane. "I broke it?" Stan asked. "Yeah, you broke it with your face." Eddie said. "What?" Stan asked. "I'm not putting my fucking hand down there." Eddie said.

27 years later

Eddie reached down to grab the ball of the paddle ball he once broke when we were kids. We all were looking around the clubhouse. "Oh, man. That's so cool." Eddie said quietly. "Oh, my God." Bill said.

"How do we all not remember that this was here?" Eddie asked as we kept looking around. "Hey, Losers." We heard, causing us all to look up quickly, as Bill pushed me behind him. "Time to float." It said as we began backing away in fear.

Suddenly, Richie came out of the shadows laughing. "Ahh!" Bill said as he hit his head. "Fuck, Richie." I said. "Dude!" Eddie said. "Remember when he used to say that shit? And he'd do that little dance." Richie said as he danced a little as we all stared at him.

"Am I the only one who remembers this shit?" Richie asked. "Are you gonna be like this the entire time we're home?" Eddie asked as we stared at him. "All right. Just trying to add some levity to this shit. I'll go fuck myself." Richie said as he walked away.

"It smells so fucking terrible in here." Eddie said, as I saw something and reached towards a can and grabbed it. I saw the label, 'For use of Losers only -Stan'. "Hey, you guys?" I asked turning to the rest of them as they looked at me.

"This says "Stan". For the use of Losers only." I read as I put my hand on the lid. "Izzy." Eddie said as I look the lid off and reached into the can, only to pull out...

27 years back

Stan held a shower cap out to Richie who was laying in a hammock. "The fuck is this?" Richie asked as he took the shower cap. "So, you don't get spiders stuck in your hair when you're down here." Stan said to him.

"Stanley, we're not afraid of fucking spiders." Richie said as he threw the shower cap, as Stanley moved aside as the rest of us had shower caps on our heads. "I stand corrected." Richie said. Eddie quickly took his shower cap off embarrassed.

Beverly and I laugh. "That's a first." We teased. "Touche." Richie said. "Hey, Rich, your ten minutes are up." Eddie said walking over to Richie. "What are you talking about?" Richie asked. "The hammock. Ten minutes each was the rule." Eddie told Richie annoyed.

"I don't see any sign." Richie said looking around. "Are you being this way right now? Really? No, no, no. Why would there be a sign if it was a verbal agreement? And I remember you agreeing on the fucking rule!" Eddie said before he climbed into the hammock with Richie.

"I can see your vagina!" Richie yelled at Eddie. "Ten minutes each." Eddie said as Mike was sitting on the swing we had down here as Ben was hammering nails into the wood as I sat on a beanbag by Bill.

"Go back in your dumb little corner!" Richie said as him and Eddie kept arguing. "You go to the corner!" Eddie yelled. "I fucked your mom!" Richie yelled. "No, you didn't. Take that back!" Eddie demanded.

"You're awfully good at this, new kid." Beverly told Ben as she smoked her cigarette. "You really think so? There's actually a summer program in Bar Harbor. Teaches you, like, everything about architecture. I was thinking about applying." Ben said.

"I'll do that. I'll do anything to get the hell out of Derry." Richie said as he moved Eddie's foot out of his face. "Man, when I graduate, I'm going to Florida." Mike said from his spot. "What's in Florida, Mike?" I asked as Bill got some dust off my shoulder.

"I don't know. You know, I guess it's just a place I always wanted to go." Mike said smiling. "Stan, you should go with Mike to Florida. You already act 80. You'd clean up with all the grandmas." Richie said and makes some kissing noises.

We all laughed. "Do you guys think we'll still be friends? When we're older?" Stan asked looking at us as we all looked at him. "What?" Richie asked. "Why wouldn't we be?" Ben asked. "Do any of your parents still hang out with their friends from middle school? I mean, things might be different then. We all might be different." Stan said.

"We'll always still be friends. I don't think that just, you know, g-goes away because we get older." Bill said as I nod. "Yeah, Stan. Come on. You don't have to be so... Sad." Beverly said.

27 years later

We were staring at the shower cap I had pulled out as I held it. "He was old before his time." Ben said as Bill was next to me, running his hand over the shower cap. "Yeah. I wonder what he was like all grown up." Eddie said.

"Probably what he was like as a kid. The best." Richie said. "Here." I said throwing the shower cap at Richie, who caught it and put it in his pocket. "All right, Mike. What are we doing here?" Richie asked.

"The ritual. To perform it requires a sacrifice." Mike said. "Sacrifice? I nominate Eddie." Richie said pointing at Eddie. "Wait, what?" Eddie asked looking at him. "Because you're little. You'll fit on a barbeque." Richie said.

"I'm 5'9. It's like, average height in the most of the world. And I nominate Izzy. She's like 5'4." Eddie said. "It's not that kind of sacrifice, guys. Mike?" Bill said as he wrapped an arm around me.

"The past is buried. But you're gonna have to dig it up. Piece by piece. And these pieces, these artifacts, that's why we're here. they are what you'll sacrifice. And since Stan isn't here to find his... I figured we should all be here together to find his artifact." Mike said as Eddie put a shower cap on.

"I think Izzy just did that." Eddie said before we all climbed out of the clubhouse. "Okay, Mike, so where do we find our tokens?" Eddie asked. "Yeah, I gotta be honest, man. All due respect. This is fucking stupid, all right? Why do we need tokens? All right? We already remember everything. Saving Bev, defeating It... I mean, we're caught up!" Richie said.

"It's not everything. We fought. But what happened after that? Before the house on Neibolt. Think." Mike told us and we tried. "We can't remember, can we?" Bill asked. "See, there's more to our story. What happened that summer. And those blank spaces, like pages torn out of a book. That's what you need to find. We need to split up. You each need to find your artifact. Alone. That's important. When you do, meet me at the library tonight." Mike said.

"Yeah, I gotta say, statistically speaking, you look at survival scenarios, we're gonna do much better as a group." Eddie said. "Yeah, splitting up would be dumb, man. Okay, we gotta go together. All right? We were together that summer, right?" Richie asked. "No, not that whole summer." I said as a memory came back.

27 years back

"Take it back." Bill said before he punched Richie. "Bill!" I said. "You're just a bunch of losers." Richie said as he was held back by Mike and Stan as Bill and I held Bill back. "Fuck off!" Richie screamed.

"Stop! We were all together when we hurt It. That's why we're still alive." Beverly told us. "Yeah? Well, I plan to keep it that way." Richie said as he stormed off to his bike with the others, but me, Bill, and Beverly following.

Soon, Bill, Beverly and I were at Bev's since Bill and I walked her home. "I bet by tomorrow we'll all be back together." Beverly told us. "I don't think so." Bill stutters. "Well, if we're gonna stop It, we better be." Beverly said.

"Maybe Richie was right. Maybe we shouldn't do anything about It, or maybe we can't." I said as Bill had me on the back of his bike. "Okay, don't let them get to you." Beverly told both of us. "It's a little late for that. You should go. Before your dad sees." Bill said before he rode off with me on his bike as Beverly went inside.

27 years later

"That day..." I muttered as we all looked at each other. "It was a shit show." Richie said putting it mildly as Bill held me close as I thought back to that day wondering what would've happened if we didn't fight that day.
