Chapter 5
*3rd POV*
Beverly stood outside her old apartment building. She looked up at the building before she was standing in front of a door with a 5 on it. On the door it said 'Marsh'. She had rung the doorbell and was waiting for the door to open.
"Yes?" An old woman answered. "Sorry. I..." Beverly began as she looked at the name before seeing that it said 'Kersh'. "May I help you?" Mrs. Kersh asked. "I thought I rang Marsh." Beverly said to her.
"Marsh? Alvin Marsh?" Mrs. Kersh asked. "My father. I grew up here." Beverly told her. Mrs. Kersh closed her door before she opened it up all the way. "Dear, it's not for me to tell you this, but your father passed away. I'm so sorry. You didn't know?" Mrs. Kersh questioned softly.
"We hadn't spoken in a while." Beverly told her softly. "Well, won't you come in? Let me offer you something to drink." Mrs. Kersh told her. "No, it's fine. I have to go." Beverly said to her. "It's the least I can do." Mrs. Kersh told her, causing Beverly to pause.
"Sure. Okay." Beverly said as Mrs. Kersh closed the door. Beverly looked around the apartment that had changed so much from when she lived inside it. Beverly took her bag off gently. "Is it like you remember?" Mrs. Kersh asked her.
"Cleaner." Beverly told her. "Well, you feel free to look around while I get the water boiling." Mrs. Kersh told her. "Oh, really, it's fine. You don't need to do that." Beverly told her. "Don't be so polite." Mrs. Kersh told her before walking into the very dark kitchen.
Beverly began walking around the apartment, before going down the hallway to her old room, but she passed the bathroom on the way. She stared into the bathroom.
27 years back
Young Beverly walked around her apartment, looking for her father, when she found him at the table looking at a picture of her mother that passed away. "Today is her birthday. I can still smell her perfume. And she'd still be alive if it wasn't for you." Alvin told her.
"Mama was sick. You know that's why she did what she did." Beverly told her father. "She did what she did because she was embarrassed to be your mother. You look like her. But you are nothing like her. Come here." Alvin said and Beverly had not moved from her spot. "I said come here!" He shouted making Beverly flinch.
27 years later
Beverly stared in the bathroom as that memory played through her head as she took deep breathes.
27 years back
"Close your eyes." Alvin said as Beverly closed her eyes with tears on her cheeks. Alvin began spraying his wife's perfume around her and him. Beverly flinched as she opened her eyes looking up at him.
He had sniffed a piece of clothing that was once her mother's. "You know that I would never hurt you. You know that, don't you?" Alvin asked, as Beverly walked close and hugged her father slowly.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Beverly sobbed softly as she still had tears. "You'll always be my little girl, won't you?" Alvin questioned his daughter. "Always." She answered.

Beverly looked away from the bathroom and walked into her old bedroom which had turned into a knitting room. She looked around before she moved some object quietly. She bent down in front of the wall, trying to get the board off.
She couldn't which made her grab some scissors. She jammed it into the wood, which gave her the chance to get the board off, only for three massive cockroaches to rush out, startling her. After they scurried off a hole in the wall was shown.
She moved it, and looked inside, before she saw a bag. She pulled it out to see an old key, some cigarettes and an old postcard. She put the key and cigarettes in her pocket. She opened the postcard.
"Your hair is winter fire, January embers... My heart burns there, too." Beverly read softly as she smiled. What she didn't notice was that Mrs. Kersh was down the hallway, watching. She walked away, as her body began twisting and turning in ways you wouldn't imagine.
Soon, Beverly was sitting down as a record played. "There. I do apologize. It gets so very hot here this time of year." Mrs. Kersh sat down after she brought the tea to the sitting area for her and Beverly.
"It's fine." Beverly told her as she took a small sip of the tea, which tasted... odd, but she swallowed it to not be rude. "Well, you feel like you could just about die. But you know what they say about Derry. "No one who dies here ever really dies"." Mrs. Kersh said as she smiled at Beverly weirdly.
Beverly noticed that she was sweating a lot. She was smiling like she was frozen in place, before she moved again. "But tell me, how is it being back in Derry?" Mrs. Kersh asked, before slurping her drink as Beverly stared.
"It's good. Strange." Beverly told her. "Strange? Oh, my. Strange, how?" Mrs. Kersh asked as she fanned herself with her shirt, which showed her chest, which had this massive... scar, that looked infected.
Suddenly an oven timer went off. "Oh. I had some cookies in the oven before you came. You stay right there." Mrs. Kersh said getting up. "I really... I shouldn't impose... I'm gonna..." Beverly said as she got up as well.
"No, no, no. I insist." Mrs. Kersh said walking into the kitchen as the record kept playing, but it began skipping. Beverly began looking at the pictures on the wall. "Mrs. Kersh, are these your family?" Beverly asked walking around the room as she looked at the pictures.
"Yes, dear. My father came to this country with $14 in his pocket. And he didn't ask for a handout the way that people come in here these days. You know what he did?" Mrs. Kersh asked. "What did he do, Mrs. Kersh?" Beverly asked.
Beverly looked at a certain picture. "My father joined the circus." Mrs. Kersh told her, as Beverly looked up, not noticing Mrs. Kersh peaking at her from the kitchen. Beverly saw a man standing with a little girl in front a wagon.
But it looked like Pennywise, and Beverly had not noticed Mrs. Kersh creeping to the other side of the kitchen, naked. "I was always Daddy's little girl. What about you? Are you still his little girl, Beverly? Are you?" Mrs. Kersh asked but the voice slowly went to Pennywise's as Beverly breathed heavily.
Suddenly Mrs. Kersh approached, having grown so much, with only underwear on and at Beverly. Beverly backed away afraid before she hit the ground. "Mustn't lie to our father!" Mrs. Kersh said as Beverly ran to the door, but couldn't get it open.
"Help! Help!" Beverly shouted. "Run, run, run. Run, run. You haven't changed anything yet. You haven't changed their futures." Pennywise said turning to Beverly down the hallway, as a human.
Beverly stared at him as he began putting white makeup on his face. "You... You haven't saved any of them. Close your eyes, Bev." Pennywise said repeating what her father told her. "Fuck you!" Beverly shouted at him.
"If you don't believe, close them and see!" Pennywise said as he used his nails to create the familiar red lines from his forehead down to his mouth as he cut into his skin. Beverly had tears as Pennywise began laughing as Beverly rushed outside looking at the apartments she once lived in, in fear.

Richie was walking down the sidewalk in town, when he saw a familiar building. He opened the door from inside before walking in with his hands in his pockets as he looked around the old arcade.
He found the street fighter game and put a coin in for a token. He grabbed it and looked at it as a distant memory played in his head.
27 years back
"Come on, you. Come on." Young Richie said as he was playing street fighter with a boy around his age named Connor. "Ken, you little bitch..." Conner said. "Yes!" Richie said as he had won against Connor.
"You're fucking good." Connor told Richie who dabbed him up. "Ah, well, I gotta go." Connor said as he began to walk away. "Hey! Um... How about we go again? Play smoe more, you know?" Richie asked Connor, just as Henry Bowers and his group walked in.
"Fuck you, man." Belch told Vic. "Only if you want to." Richie told Connor who looked back noticing Bowers and his group. "Dude, why are you being weird? I'm not you fucking boyfriend." Connor told Richie.
"Whoa, I... I didn't..." Richie said. "What the fuck's going on here?" Bowers asked walking towards them. "You assholes didn't tell me your town is full of little fairies." Connor told Bowers. "Richie fucking Tozier? What? You're trying to bone my little cousin? Get the fuck out of here, faggot!" Bowers shouted, as Richie looked around before walking. "Fucking move!" Bowers shouted.
27 years later
Richie stared out the door as he remembered running out of here after that moment.
27 years back
Richie walked to the park and sat on the bench. He had taken his glasses off as he cried a little. "Want a kiss, Richie?" A voice suddenly asked, as Richie quickly put his glasses on to see that the giant statue was suddenly gone.
He breathes heavily, before looking to the side to see the statue beside him causing him to scream as bats flew out of the statues mouth. He jumped out of the way, before he could get crushed.
He ran and ran till he was knocked to the ground by the statue. The statue had Pennywise's laugh causing Richie to shut his eyes tightly as his glasses had fallen off. "It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. It's not real." Richie repeated before putting his glasses back on to see the statue back in its usual spot.
"I think I just shit my pants." Richie said before his head fell back on the grass as he looked up at the sky.
27 years later
Richie was standing in the park as he looked at the statue. "Canal Days Festival." A voice said as he shoved something in Richie's chest. "Shit." Richie said looking at the person. "Closing performance is tonight. Hope to see you there, handsome." The voice of Adrian said as he tossed the flyers up as he walked.
Richie looked at it only to see his own name on it. 'In Loving Memory of Richard Tozier 1976-2016'. "Did you miss me, Richie?" Pennywise asked, causing Richie's head to snap up to see Pennywise sitting on the statue.
"Oh, fuck!" Richie muttered seeing him. "'Cause I've missed you. No one wants to play with the clown anymore. Play a game with me, would ya? How about Street Fighter? Oh, yes. You like that one, don't you? Or maybe Truth or Dare?" Pennywise asked with a grin.
"Jesus." Richie muttered as everyone was staring at Pennywise as if frozen in time. "Oh, you wouldn't want anyone to pick "truth," though, would ya, Richie? You wouldn't want anyone to know what you're hiding." Pennywise said as he floated down to Richie while laughing.
The sky slowly became a darker blue. "I know your secret, your dirty, little secret. Oh, I know your secret, your dirty, little secret~" Pennywise sang as he landed on the ground. Richie backed away from him.
"Should I tell them, Richie?" Pennywise asked grinning. "This isn't happening. This isn't real. It isn't real. It isn't happening. It isn't real." Richie said as he closed his eyes tightly for a moment, before opening his eyes again.
Pennywise taunts him by going towards him, causing Richie to scream and run off. "Come back and play! Come back and play with the clown!" Pennywise shouted as his face slowly became odd looking.

Bill was walking across the street, only to almost get run over. "Sorry, sorry..." He said as he kept walking before he reached the other side. As he walked by a store, he saw his old bike in the window, recognizing it immediately.
He walked inside the store laughing. "Oh, man!" Bill said happily. "Can I help you?" The shopkeeper asked. "Hi. Yeah, I want to see about the..." Bill said but he began to stutter. "Baseball card?" The shopkeeper asked.
Bill kept stuttering. "The bowling ball?" The shopkeeper asked. "No, the..." Bill said but kept stuttering. "Banjo?" The shopkeeper asked. "Beaver?" The shopkeeper asked as Bill kept stuttering.
"Fucking bike." Bill said finally getting it out. The shopkeeper shut his book. "You wanna use that kind of language, take it out in the street." The shopkeeper said standing up from his chair. "I'm sorry. Can we just start over and pretend that I just walked in?" Bill asked walking over.
"How can I help you?" The shopkeeper asked annoyed. "Thank you. Yes. I want to buy the bike." Bill said to him. "Aren't you William Denbrough, the writer?" The shopkeeper asked. "Yeah, that's... That's me. That bike used to be mine." Bill said to him.
"Well, it's mine now. But you're the big author. You want it, you can afford it." The shopkeeper said causing Bill to chuckle. "All right. How much?" Bill asked. "$300." The shopkeeper said. Bill looked at him.
"You can afford it. I'll get it." The shopkeeper said as he walked around the counter and towards the front of the store to get the bike. "I guess that's kind of a deal?" Bill said as he began grabbing cash, and saw that the shopkeeper had one of his books.
"You... You want me to sign it for you?" Bill asked. "Nah. I didn't like the ending." The shopkeeper said walking back towards the counter after he got the bike out of the window. Bill put the book down and got the money out of his wallet and handed it to the shopkeeper.
"All yours." The shopkeeper said. "I don't know how fast she'll go. Been there a lot of years." The shopkeeper warned Bill who walked towards the bike. "You know what, mister? She was fast enough to beat the devil." Bill told him.
Soon enough, Bill was attempting to ride the bike but was failing. "Come on." Bill said as he slowly began riding the bike just like he used to. "Yeah! Whoo!" Bill said as he had a flashback of when a younger version of him and Izzy were riding the bike.
"Hi-ho, Silver! Away!" Bill shouted as he kept riding but as he did, he passed by his old house, only to see the kid that he met at the Chinese place living in his old house as he had a flashback to the day Georgie disappeared. Soon enough, Bill came across the storm drain that Georgie disappeared.
27 years back
A younger Bill walked to the storm drain his younger brother disappeared at and knelt down. "I know you're down there. I know you.... can hear me." Bill said as he stuttered. "There's something I have to know. All of those kids in this town you could have taken, why... Georgie?" Bill asked as he stuttered.
"Say something! Why him? Why him? Why him? Why him?" Bill shouts into the sewer as he sobbed, as he went to get up a voice spoke. "Why? Because you weren't there, Billy." Pennywise said before he laughed evilly.
27 years back
Bill stared at the storm drain before he picked up his bike. "Billy don't leave." A voice said causing Bill to drop his bike. "Hello?" Bill asked as he slowly went to the storm drain. "Billy." The voice said.
"I'm still here. Help me." The voice said. "Georgie." Bill said as he got closer to the drain. Hands reached out to him. "Georgie?" Bill asked hopefully. "Help me, Billy." Georgie said. "Take my hand. Take my hand. I've got you, buddy. Come on." Billy said as Georgie was just out of his reach.
"He's coming." Gerogie said. "Take my hand! I got you. Come on." Bill said. "Billy, please. He's coming." Georgie said. "Take my hand." Bill begged. "Billy!" Georgie shouted. "Come on, take my hand!" Bill shouted but multiple arms grabbed his and he saw Pennywise's hand and rolled away from the drain with his younger brother's old paper boat.
"I hate you! I hate you." Bill said as he stared at the drain. "Who are you talking to?" The kid from the Chinese restaurant asked as he stared at Bill. "Move, move, move! Move! Move! You hear voices from that sewer, you stay away from it." Bill told the kid.
"You hear voices from the sewer?" The kid asked him. "No. No. Just stay away from that sewer." Bill said as he began picking his bike up from the ground. "I only hear voices in the tub." The kid told Bill, who looked at him.
"You know. From the drain." The kid said. "What kind of voices?" Bill asked. "Kids. And other times, like a..." The kid began but trailed off. "Like a clown?" Bill asked. The kid nodded. Bill rushed over to him.
"You listen to me. You listen to me good. You need to get out of this town. All right? Tell your parents. Make up a reason. You make up a fucking lie. I don't care what you do. Just get out of this town. Make them never bring you back. Do you understand? You leave Derry and you stay out of Derry! Do you understand me?" Bill asked desperately.
"I'm supposed to be at the festival." The kid said. "Tell me you understand!" Bill said before he let go of the kid. "I'm supposed to be at the festival. I gotta go." The kid said as he left Bill. "Just be careful." Bill said as he watched the kid.
Meanwhile
Ben was walking to the high school and he walked inside and to an old classroom. He looked around gently as a memory appeared in his head.
27 years back
The school bell rang and Ben was sleeping before he was hit on the head multiple times. He sighed as they all left. He began gathering his things and as he looked at the shadow he thought he saw Pennywise causing him to turn in a panic, only to see Beverly.
"Whoa. Easy. It's just me." Beverly said smiling at him. "What are you and your little buddies up to in here?" Beverly asked as she sat down. "Oh. Those guys are definitely not my buddies." Ben told her.
"No, I meant your real friends. Joey. Jonathan. Donnie. Danny." Beverly said. "Oh." Ben said as he turned his walkman off. Ben watched Beverly light a cigarette. "Are you smoking in school?" Ben asked before she gestured up.
"Secret hideout. Don't tell anyone." Beverly said as Ben saw that the smoke detectors were covered. Beverly played with her lighter. "You okay, new kid?" Beverly asked. "Yeah, no, I'm fine. I guess I'm just worried that we're not all gonna be the same after the fight." Ben said.
"As long as we can still hang out, who cares?" Beverly asked. "You really mean that?" Ben asked smiling. "Well, yeah, of course, dummy." Beverly said as she held Ben's hand. "You and me." She said before Ben leaned towards her.
"Oh, my God! I meant as a friend. You actually thought I could like someone as fat and gross and disgusting like you?" Beverly asked as Ben looked away from her. She kept playing with her lighter.
"No matter how many stupid poems you write." Beverly said as her voice sounded... demonic. Ben looked quickly, only to gasp as Beverly's head was on fire. "Your hair is winter fire!" The monster said as Ben ran out of the room.
Ben ran as fast as he could. "January embers." The monster said as Ben ran to the door, only to find them chained. "My heart burns there, too." The monster said causing Ben to run to his locker and get the combination in and hid in his locker panting.
He held the signed part of his yearbook close. "That's not the real Beverly. Beverly would never say anything like that. She'd never say that." Ben said as he pants. He looked back out to see nothing, but as he turned, he saw Pennywise.
He screamed. "Kiss me, fat boy." Pennywise said before yelling, causing Ben to scream and fall out of his locker. Pennywise tried to get out and slowly did it. "Oh, nobody wants to kiss the fat boy." Pennywise said.
"Just leave me alone." Ben told him. "Alone? Oh, you've always been alone." Pennywise told him. "That's not true. I have real friends. Bill. Eddie. Mike. Stanley. Richie. Izzy. Beverly. They're my real friends." Ben told him.
"Kiss me as if it were the last time." Pennywise said as he faded into the shadows his eyes glowing before he ran towards Ben, who ran and bumped into the janitor. "What the hell are you doing kid?" He asked.
27 years later
Ben pants before he turned quickly and left the school, desperate to get out of the one place he called hell as a kid.
*My POV*
I was walking on the sidewalk to my old house. As I approached the house... it was abandoned. From head to toe, it was rotten. "Okay... I can do this." I muttered as I slowly walked towards the house.
I pushed the door open and unlike the outside of the house... nothing was rotten. And it was decorated like it was when I was a kid. I looked around before heading upstairs. I pushed the door open to my room and found it just like it was when I left.
I went to the closet and pulled a tile off the wall and reached into a hole in the wall. I pulled a bag out that contained a paper. I opened the bag and grabbed the paper. I opened it to find the familiar words that once warmed my heart.
'You brought me sunshine, when I saw rain. You brought me laughter, when I only felt pain'. I smiled softly as I held it close to my heart when I heard footsteps. I looked up after putting the paper in my bra.
I slowly walked downstairs. "Hello?" I asked only to be met with silence. "Is anyone here?" I asked again, but instead of silence I heard laughter, laughter that I knew to damn well. "Oh, Izzy. Izzy, Izzy, Izzy!" Pennywise said as he appeared at the other end of the hall.
"You're not real." I said as I stared. "Oh, but I must be if you can see me!" He taunted with that evil grin, before it fell. "He'll never love you. He won't. You're a waste." He taunts and I covered my ears.
"Not real, not real, not real!" I shouted before I saw Pennywise run at me, causing me to scream and run out of my house, only to find it falling apart as I exited. I pant before I ran down the sidewalk, and back to where I need to be.
