CHAPTER 46

ALFRED's PoV

"Hi son."

I stayed stunned. Why is he here? Sa pagkakatanda ko next year pa ang vacation niya dito sa pilipinas. Sa US kasi siya nagwowork. Naroon rin kasi ang kompanya namin.

'Di ko na rin masyadong kaclose si Papa. Eversince I was a child he would just visit us in the Philippines for just a very short time. My Father's a workaholic person in short. And that sucks at times because he's losing time for our family. Though I know his work is for the company, for us. Kaya sanay na ako sa'kanya.

I also saw Mom walking downstairs.

Lumapit sa'kin si papa at hinawakan ako sa balikat. "Look at you Alfred. You're so grown up. They would be so happy if they'll see you." Nakangiting sabi ni papa sa'kin.

Wait, they? Sino naman? Kumunot nanaman ang noo ko. But nevermind. Maybe it's just nothing important. I still don't have an answer on why he is here.

"Thanks dad. Napaaga yata ang uwi mo dito sa Pilipinas?" natanong ko.

"No son actually I'll be back in the US soon." Sagot ni Papa.

Kumunot naman ang noo ko. Just like I said, he only visits us for a very short time.

"Your father is here to... give us good news." Dagdag pa ni Mama dahilan para mapatingin ako sa kanya. She looked worried while saying that.

Good news? I looked at dad. "What good news?"

Dad tapped my shoulders, "I'll tell you later while eating dinner. You should rest. Your mother told me you and your friends had a vacation in tagaytay. At alam kong kakauwi mo kaya magpahinga ka na muna sa kwarto mo."

I suddenly yawned.

"Okay dad."

Dad's right. That good news can wait for later. I need to take a sleep first.

So I walked upstairs to my room.

Pagkapasok na pasok ko nahiga na kaagad ako sa kama. I closed my eyes and thought about Chloe for a while. May work pa pala siya dito sa bahay mamayang 6. I hope she's resting too. I know she's so tired.

CHLOE's PoV

Nagising ako sa alarm ng cellphone ko. 5:45pm.

Hayy. Work nanaman. Ayos lang, nakapagpahinga naman ako. At sanay naman na akong mapagod. Nagbihis na ako ng white tshirt at black pants. Nagsuklay na din ako para maayos naman akong tignan.

Lumabas na ako ng apartment at nagtungo sa mansion nila Alfred.

Pumasok na ako sa mansion nila at nakita ko si Leah na naglilinis sa living room.

"Chloe! Nakabalik na pala kayo galing tagaytay. Kamusta?" Bungad sa'kin ni Leah pagkalapit ko sa'kanya.

I smiled at her, "Ayos lang naman Leah. Ikaw?" tanong ko.

"Ayos lang din naman. Medyo pagod lang dahil dumating 'yong asawa ni Ma'am Clara galing ibang bansa. Si Sir Roberto."

Kumunot naman ang noo ko. "Asawa ni Ma'am Clara? Ibigsabihin, Papa ni Alfred?" natanong ko.

"Yup," Tumango naman si Leah.

Andito Papa ni Alfred? Napaisip ako. Mabait din kaya siya katulad ni Ma'am Clara? Nagkibit-balikat nalang ako sa naisip kong 'yan.

Nagpatuloy na sa pagwawalis si Leah.

Napatigil kami nang may marinig kami ni Leah na pababa ng hagdan.

"I need a maid to fix my clothes." Sabi ng matandang lalaki sa'min.

Matandang lalaki na parang ka-edad ni Ma'am Clara. Speaking of him, I'm guessing he's Sir Roberto? Papa ni Alfred?

Napatingin ako kay Leah nang magsalita siya sa tabi ko.

"Ah sige po sir Roberto ako nalang." Mahinhin na sabi ni Leah at umakyat ng hagdan. Papunta siguro sa Master's Bedroom para ayusin yung mga gamit.

Tama nga ang akala ko. Siya nga ang Papa ni Alfred.

Panandaliang nagtama ang tingin namin ni Sir Roberto. Kaagad akong umiwas ng tingin. Nakita kong naglakad na siya patungo sa labas ng mansion.

Wow. 'Yung itsura ni sir Roberto pangforeigner na pangforeigner. Halatang mayaman. At kung paano niya ako tignan kanina ay bilang isang katulong lang.

Napagbuntong hininga ako at umiling.

Sinimulan ko nang magtrabaho.

Trabaho ko ang maglaba ngayon ng mga damit kaya dumiretso na ako sa Laundry Room.

Alfred's PoV

Naalimpungatan ako ng may kumatok sa pintuan ng kwarto ko.

"Sir Alfred, pinapatawag na ho kayo nila Ma'am Clara at Sir Roberto. Magpapanggabihan na daw ho kayo."

I heard a voice of a Maid said that.

"Okay. Tell them I'll be right there." Sagot ko naman.

I lazily stood up from my bed and went to my cabinet. Binuksan ko ang cabinet at kumuha ng sweatshirt. I went out my room and wore my sweatshirt as I went downstairs.

Nakababa na ako ng hagdanan at dumiretso na ko sa pagkainan. I saw mom and dad already sitting at the dining area and ready to eat. Nasa lamesa na din ang lahat ng pagkain.

"Alfred you're awake. Take a seat." Dad said right after they saw me.

Naupo narin naman ako sa mga upuan katabi si Mama.

I took my plate and got my food. Ganun na din ang ginawa nila Mama at Papa. We started eating quietly and I noticed Mom was looking a bit worried. Is there a problem?

"Clara? Is there a problem? You seem to not enjoy the food?" Natanong ni Papa kay Mama.

Napansin na din niya ang itsura ni Mama ngayon. Ano ba kasing problema?

Mom shrugged. "It's nothing Roberto. I'm fine." And she smiled at Dad.

Tumango lang naman si Papa. Then we continued to eat.

"I was wondering. Do you already have any girlfriend son?" biglang natanong sa kin ni Papa.

I was about to answer when Mom interrupted.

"Ano ka ba Roberto? Syempre naman wala pa. Our son has been such a good boy and I think his only priority is his education." Mom said still looking worried.

What is she so worried about?

Tinignan ako ni mama na parang nagsasabihing "Just agree with me."

Then suddenly I thought of Chloe. She's just a... maid. But that doesn't affect my love for her. Pero si Papa.. He'd always expect so much for me. For my future. Dahil alam niyang balang araw ako ang papalit sa pwesto niya sa kompanya. I mean, I don't have an older brother. And thinking how would he react if he'll know my girlfriend is a maid?

I think now is not the right time to tell him.

So I looked at Dad.

"Mom's right Dad. I don't have a girlfriend yet."

Dad curved a smile on his face after hearing that. He seemed so.. happy?

"That's good news for me Alfred. And speaking of the other good news, it's about our company." Sabi ni Papa at napatingin ako sa kanya.

I became curious.

"What about the company?" I asked.

"Our company is about to merge to another company by next year. So it's in three months for the process. It's really a big company we are merging to and I assure would make our company so much better." Sagot ni papa.

"Well that is good news Dad." I said with a surprised tone.

"And son I need your help on this." Dad seriously looked at me.

Kumunot ang noo ko at napatingin ulit kay Mama. Sobrang nag aalala na 'yung mukha niya. I don't get what's going on. But I have a bad feeling about this. Help?

"What help?"

"The company we are merging to wanted the process with an arrange marriage for their daughter.. and to my son,"

I widened my eyes. Sh*t. I know his next words wouldn't be something my ears would like to hear.

"Alfred, you'll be having an arrange marriage."
