Jai started at the envelope in shock. He had taken a break from the table and come back to find a letter on his chair. It was in his mystery girl's handwriting! He tore it open and read quickly, feeling his good mood deflate rapidly. By the end of the letter he felt sick to his stomach. Chris came up behind him, looking upset.

"I know who your secret admirer is, Jai." Chris said.

"I do, too." Jai said glumly. "It's your girlfriend."

"I don't know what to do. If I stay with her, I'll hurt you."

"I'll get over it." Jai said, forcing a smile. "Do what makes you happy. Stay with her, get married, have kids."

"Jai..."

"I can't believe I never noticed her and didn't know her name." Jai said, disgusted with himself. "I feel so stupid."

"It's okay. She's fine." Chris said, putting a hand on his arm. "She's just worried about our friendship. You and me."

Jai wrestled with his emotions for a few moments.

"Why didn't she say something when she first started liking you and not me?" Jai finally asked.

"She said she didn't want to make things weird between you and I. A lot of friendships are broken up over a girl. I can understand your point of view, but I can see hers as well." Chris replied. "This is all going to be up to you. If you're okay with her and I, we'll stay together, but if you want me to, I'll break up with her and we can go back to how it was before."

Jai thought for a moment before replying.

"Give me until tomorrow and I'll give you an answer."
