Jai was getting discouraged. Two days until Valentine's Day, and he still hadn't found her. Plus, Chris wasn't spending as much time with him now that he had Kiersten. Jai hadn't even met the girl yet, but he already disliked her. Jai wasn't sure whether he was jealous because Chris had a girlfriend while he was desperately searching for his mystery girl, or because he missed his best friend's company. Probably a mixture of both.

Plus, he had no idea as to what her last letter meant. "I really don't know what else I can say" wasn't very self-explanatory. She hadn't said "love, your secret admirer" either, like she usually did.

When he had brought it up to Chris, all he'd had to say was, "Maybe she's having second thoughts." He had been joking, but maybe he was right.
