Chapter 1
Rapunzel's POV
I got up and yawned. I looked at my sisters, Elsa and Merida.
Elsa slept peacefully on the bed to my right, while Merida had her head buried into her pillow and her butt in the air.
"Elsa! Merida! Time to get up!" I called out.
"Okay." Elsa replied, sitting up. "Five more minutes." Merida grumbled and rolled over.
"Merida!" I whined. "You know we have to do chores!" "So?" She said back. "I can't do anything if I'm not well rested."
She wrapped herself in the blanket until she looked like a human burrito.
I chuckled and pulled my frying pan from under my bed. I waited for Elsa to cover her ears and then I started my assault on the floor.
"Ahh!!!" Merida screamed. She attempted to stand up, but instead, she ended up stuck in the blanket and fell on her face.
I laughed with Elsa, but immediately stopped as Merida's head peeked out from the bundled mess and she gave us her death glare.
Seriously, though. If looks could kill...
We helped her stand and Elsa went downstairs to get the cleaning supplies ready.
"Ugh! I don' wanna do chores!" Merida whined in her thick Scottish accent.
I just laughed, "Come on, Merida! It's not so bad in there!" Then I started to sing.
"7am, the usual morning line-up."
"Start on the chores and sweep till the floor's all clean!" Elsa joined in.
"Polish an' wax, do laundry, an' mop an' shine up." Merida smiled into our little song.
"Sweep again." I started. "And by then" Elsa continued.
"It's like, 7:15!" Merida shouted.
"And so I'll read a book, or maybe two or three." Elsa pulled out her series and I laughed and grabbed my paint.
"I'll add a few new paintings to my gallery!" We smiled as Merida grabbed a wad of different things.
"I'll play guitar, and knit, and cook and basically."
"Just wonder when will my life begin?" We sang together.
"Then afta' lunch it's puzzles and darts and bakin'"
"Paper mâché a bit of ballet and chess!" Elsa danced.
"Pottery and ventriloquy, candle making." I giggled as Elsa jumped at the sight of my puppet.
"Then I'll stretch!"
"Maybe sketch!"
"Take a climb!"
"Sew a dress!" I giggled as Merida rolled her eyes.
"And I'll reread the books if I have time to spare." Elsa sang with boredom.
"I'll paint the walls some more."
"I'm sure there's room somewhere." They reassured me.
"And then we'll brush and brush, and brush and brush our hair." We sang as Merida attempted to pull a comb through her mess of curls.
"Stuck in the same place we've always been. And we'll keep wonderin' and wonderin' and wonderin' and wonderin': When will our lives begin?"
"Tomorrow night," we continued to sing, while walking to the window.
"The lights will appear. Just like they do on our birthday each year."
"What is it like?" I sang. "Out there where they glow?" Merida continued.
"Now that we're older...." Elsa proposed. "Mother might just....let us go." We finished and smiled.
"Maybe, jus' maybe, she will!" Merida cheered excitedly, and I nodded in agreement.
"Rapunzel! Let down your hair!" We heard our mother's voice.
"Coming, Mother!" I yelled. Merida and Elsa helped me throw my seventy-five foot train of hair out the window.
Yeah, seventy-five. Trust me, we measured it.
I winced a little as I felt the extra weight on my hair and we struggled to pull her up.
We helped her through the window and we immediately started hugging her. She'd been gone for two days.
"Hello, Mother." We said in unison. "Hello, my flowers!" She greeted us with her comforting smile.
"Ooh! Did you bring us what we asked for?" I jumped up excitedly.
"Rapunzel! Manners." Elsa scolded and I sighed. "Thank you, Elsa, and yes, I brought them."
We smiled brightly in anticipation as she pulled out a quiver for Merida's arrows, a hair clip for Elsa, and a new set of paints.
I squealed and hugged her quickly. "Thank you, Mother." We said together, again.
I grabbed my easel and stuffed Pascal into a small dress.
Now, what angle should I draw him in?
