Chapter 2

Elsa's POV

"Mother?" I asked, calmly walking up to her.

"Yes, my flower?" She asked. I took a gulp and I just asked. "Do you think that we could possibly see the lights this year? We've always wanted to go out-"

I stopped as I saw her face turn grim. Uh-oh. I noticed my other sisters' presence behind me.

"You want to go outside? Why?" She asked.

"Look at you, as fragile as a flower." She said running her fingers under my chin. "Still a little sapling, just a sprout."

"You know why we stay up in this tower. That's right, to keep you safe and sound, dears."

"Guess I always knew this day was coming." She sang, rather dramatically.

"Knew that soon you'd want to leave the nest. Soon, but not yet."

"But-" I tried to interrupt, but she cut me off. "Trust me, pet. Mother knows best."

I noticed Merida roll her eyes, and why wouldn't she? Every time we ask, we get the same musical lecture.

"Mother knows best. Listen to your mother. It's a scary world out there."

"Mother knows best. One way or another, something will go wrong, I swear."

Wait. What is she doing? She's putting some sort of scary twist into this.

"Ruffians, thugs, poison ivy, quicksand, cannibals, and snakes. The Plague."

"No!" We shouted, but she said, "Yes!"

"Also large bugs, men with pointy teeth, and- Stop! No more, you'll just upset me!" We rushed over as she looked like she might cry.

We yelped as she jumped up and sang, "Mother's right here, Mother will protect you. Darlings, here's what I suggest; Skip the drama, stay with Mama!"

"Mother knows best!"

"Mother knows best!" She sang as Rapunzel went around the room, lighting candles. I watched her blow each one out, leaving us in the dark.

"Take it from your Mumsy. On your own you won't survive. Sloppy, under-dressed." She pointed at Merida.

"Immature, clumsy." She pointed to Punzie.

"Please! They'll eat you up alive!" I gasped as she pointed to me and yelled, "Gullible!" "Naive!" to Rapunzel, and, "Positively grubby!" to Merida.

"Ditzy and a bit, well, hmm...vague!" She sang, circling us.

"Plus, I believe, gettin' kinda chubby!" She said squeezing my cheeks. "I'm just saying 'cause I wuv you."

"Mother understands!" She sang as if she was talking to babies. "Mother's here to help you!"

We looked around for her, and we ran as the sun shone down on her.

"All I have is one request! Darlings,"

"Yes?" We said, letting go of her. "Don't ever ask to leave this tower again." She said.

"Yes, Mother." We sighed, with our heads down. "Oh, I love you very much, dears." She smiled.

"We love you more." We said. "I love you most." She finished.

"Don't forget it. You'll regret it." She sang. "Mother.....knows best!" She left us to go get her bag.

"What would you like for your birthday's?" She asked.

"Ooh! Ooh! You know that really cool oil paint!" Rapunzel yelled.

"The bow in the market place! The red one!" Merida jumped around, thinking about her new bow.

"What about you, Elsa?" She asked me.

"Me?" She nodded. "I guess I'd like to have a new pair of gloves." I smiled.

I've always needed to have control over my powers. That's what I need the gloves for. No one must know of my powers.

Well, at least that's what Mother tells us.

I have ice powers, Punzie can heal people with her hair, and Merida is really good with a bow and arrow.

"Goodbye, my flowers! I'll see you in three days!" Mother yelled from below.

We waved to her until we couldn't see her anymore. "Well, " I sighed, "Back to the usual."
