I was shocked, no astounded I was a mermaid.
"In about 3..2..1." she said looking at a emerald studded watch. My legs started to tingle, then felt like jelly, then I blacked out. I woke up a minute or two later.... Or that's what Kalia said. When I woke up my Wetsuit had transformed into a beautiful light blue, pink, and golden tail I also wore a light blue top.
"Wa-wait, so I'm a what now?" I asked again still confused.
"Your a mermaid, duh, couldn't figure that out with the tail?" She said exasperated.
"So then, why did I turn into a mermaid now and not earlier?" I mused.
" Halflings get their powers when they turn 11 you just turned 11 so you just got your powers...." Her voice trailed off.
"And?"
"....And you also got recruited into the water fight academy," she said making droopy jazz hands.
"What is the water fight academy?" I asked befuddled
"Oh it's where they teach you how to fight in war," she said matter of factly.
"Well that's.... intimidating," I said my stomach churning.
"I'm also in the war, my mother died protecting me in a raid," she said the last part in a whisper. I put my arm around her to comfort her as she quietly cried into my shoulder.
"Time to go," she said wiping her eyes.
"Just one question, was it you who dragged me down?" I asked I thought it was her but I had to clarify.
"Yea, I had to get you into the crystal room, that's were your powers have to come in unless you want to go koo koo," she said as she slid into the water.
"OK then...." I said while sinking into the water. The water level started to rise.... rapidly.
"Hey Kalia," I screamed but she didn't seem to here me. By now the water was at my neck so I inhaled deeply as much air as I could until the grotto had been totally submerged into the dark water.
