When she got to the other shore she crept into the willows and stocked toward the smell of the fishy cats.Suddenly Appledusk and Reedshine, padded out of the camp entrance, Mapleshade hid and staid still as a tree.They walked past tails entwined Mapleshade growled lightly and silently followed them.

Appledusk led Reedshine out into a small clearing next to the river and both of them sat down."Reedshine, I care for you a lot...In fact, I love you and...Well, will you be my mate?"

Mapleshade's heart sank and thought no he loves me not her!Reedshine looked at him with love and said"Yes ".Mapleshade backed out of the clearing and ran not caring if any Riverclan warriors saw her, she just ran to the shore and leaped into the water. 

She washed on the Thunderclan border and dragged herself to Sunningrocks, where Beetail jumped up and ran over to Mapleshade."What happened Mapleshade, I was so worried about you, are you ok?"

Mapleshade leaned into him and whispered to him a long lost look in her eyes."He betrayed me, he asked Reedshine to be his mate."Beetail looked at her in shock and fear.

Mapleshade swallowed and waled."I now see the mistake I have made........I have betrayed Thunderclan and the Warrior Code!"Then she cried into Beetails shoulder and he rested his head on top of hers.
