Chapter 66: Luca
Luca groaned at his pounding head and stiff back. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at Nadia cuddled on top of him in the front seat of his car.
Oh shit...we fucked up.
At least they managed to get in the car, but they had to get out of there. He massaged the back of Nadia's neck and kissed her forehead.
"Wake up, baby," he whispered. "We have to get out of here."
She stirred against him and pressed her lips against his neck. "Get out of where?" she mumbled.
"The garage. We're in my car."
She gasped and popped her head up. "Oh shit, oh fuck. We have to get out of here before my father comes out here, but my head is killing me," she groaned and slid a hand over her face. "Why did we do this?"
"Because we were drunk," he chuckled and pulled her hand from her face, "and you decided to tempt me with one of my fantasies."
A smile tugged at her lips. "It was my fantasy too and I'd do it again."
"Mm, maybe when we're home, ma petite fleur," he mumbled and kissed her softly. "Come on, we need to get out of this car before we're caught." He sighed and groaned as he sat up with her on his lap. "God, my body is fucked up."
"This is what we get for acting like teenagers," she laughed as she opened the car door and slowly stepped out.
"You two chose an interesting bed last night," her father chuckled as he came out of the small office holding a pot of coffee in his hand.
Fuuuuck.
Luca closed his eyes and let out a slow breath before he got out of the car to stand beside Nadia.
"Um, we...just. We were - it's not...fuck," Nadia sighed. "I don't know what to tell you, Dad. I'm hungover."
Oh God, I've got to save us somehow. *Think* Luca!
"Mr. Coleman -"
"You don't have to explain anything to me," he said and poured three cups of coffee. "Luca told me all I need to know, but you two are lucky I'm the one that caught you," he chuckled and motioned for them to join him at the small table.
Nadia looked up at Luca and his cheeks burned up to his ears. He didn't think he overshared what they were to each other. He never said they were a couple, but he might've gotten carried away when he told him the reason he kept guards on her. He just didn't want him to think he was like Jonathan.
"What do you mean Luca told you what you need to know?" Nadia said they sat across from her father.
He grinned, "don't be too mad at him. He didn't tell me you were a couple or anything. You proved that this morning," he chuckled and slid his hand over Nadia's.
"He's a good man, Nadia," he said and turned his eyes on Luca, "I trust you to look after my daughter, which I hoped would have meant not letting me catch you sleeping in your car."
Luca choked out a laugh. "No, Mr. Coleman, that was definitely drunken misjudgment."
"Mm-hm, you two better be using protection," he grumbled but his green eyes were still full of amusement.
And I fucked up again...
Luca could imagine his face was beet red while Nadia laughed next to him. "Oh my God, Dad," she shook her head and sighed. "Please don't tell Mom, I'm not even ready for you to know."
"I won't tell your mother. I understand why you want to keep this between yourselves and I respect that. I think it's good you're taking this slow," he smiled and squeezed Nadia's hand, "I'm happy for you. You deserve someone special like Luca."
"Thank you, Dad," Nadia sniffed and squeezed his hand.
Her father nodded and turned to Luca. His green eyes were dark and full of malice. "I have two shot guns, a rifle and a machete. If you ever hurt my daughter I won't be sending you to jail like the last one. Your guards won't be able to stop me from taking your life. Do you understand me?"
"I'd expect nothing less from you, Mr. Coleman," he looked at Nadia and wiped the tear rolling down her cheek. "It's not my plan to hurt your daughter," he chuckled and looked at her father, "and my guards would probably take me out if I did."
The ire in her father's eyes slowly broke and a smile cracked his stoic expression as he held out his hand to him. "You're alright with me, Luca. But I want a ring on that finger before you start popping out any babies."
"Dad, stop it," Nadia laughed into her mug.
A blush burned over Luca's cheeks as he shook his hand. "That's fair enough, Mr. Coleman."
"It's Charlie or Charles now. I'm sure you'll be my son-in-law one of these days," he chuckled.
"Alright, you had too much weed last night. You're starting to sound like Mom," Nadia grumbled and shook her head but there was a hint of laughter in her voice.
"Mm, maybe. Speaking of your mother. She's packing up the cooler. We're going to the gorge."
"Noooo," she whined and pressed her head into Luca's shoulder. "Why does she do this?"
"You know your mother, we've got to sweat out the alcohol."
Luca frowned. "What do you mean?"
Nadia sighed. "My mom makes us walk to the top of the gorge to cleanse our bodies of the toxins from the alcohol. It's her hangover remedy that she forces on all of us."
He laughed, "that doesn't sound too bad. I could use a walk. My back is so stiff."
"Yeah, you say that now," Nadia grumbled.
"You'll be fine, but you might want to get the rest of your friends up before she rings that damn bell," her father chuckled as Nadia stood up and her tired eyes fell on Luca.
"Come on, no one wants to hear that obnoxious farm bell," she sighed and held out her hand to him.
"Mm-hm, that's why I'm hiding out here until you're all ready to go. Evie and your other sisters whine too much."
"Because we're all fucking hungover and no one wants to go on this damn walk. I'm too damn clumsy to be walking around the damn gorge."
Luca chuckled and wrapped his arm around her waist. "It can't be that bad and I got you. I won't let you fall."
"You see, you'll be fine. Go on now. Let me have my peace before I have to listen to all of you grumble," her father laughed and waved them away.
"This is bullshit," Nadia grumbled as they walked through the path leading to the cottage and the main house.
Luca grinned and kissed her head. "That could've gone much worse with your Dad though. I thought he was going to kill me."
She giggled and looked up at him with her tired green eyes shining with joy. "Yeah, it could've but he really likes you."
Luca slid his hands to her cheeks. "That's good because I really like his daughter."
"Which one?"
He chuckled, "the one I like to fuck on my car," he mumbled and leaned down to kiss her grinning lips.
"I fucking knew it!"
Their eyes grew wide and they broke apart to whip their heads toward the accusation. Eva and Gordon were standing just beyond the clearing of the path. Her hands were on her hips with a smug grin painted across her face.
"Mm-hm, where did you two sneak off to last night, huh?" Eva smirked.
"And where did you two come from huh?" Nadia said and pointed her finger at them.
"Where did you sleep last night Evie? Gordon?"
"Uh...my bed?" Gordon's face turned beet red and he raised his hands and quickly added, "I-I promise nothing happened, Miss Nadia."
"Yeah nothing had better happened," she grumbled.
Eva rolled her eyes. "I told you I'm a grown ass woman and I do what I want," she huffed and her brown eyes filled with worry. "Please don't tell Mom. She's already being extra about everything. It's bad enough Dad already had the talk."
"I won't say a thing as long as you don't open up your mouth about me and Luca to anyone, Evie."
A bright smile broke across Evie's face and she crushed Nadia with a hug. "Thank you and I promise I won't say anything."
"To anyone, Evie."
She laughed, "I promise, Nadia. My lips are sealed. I'm proud of you though. It's been a long time since you've brought home a decent guy."
A bright smile broke across Luca's face, "does this mean I'm allowed to call you Evie now?"
She looked up at him and grinned, "yeah, especially since you're going to be my landlord soon."
"Am I? You didn't say if you wanted the place."
"Hell yeah, I want that penthouse. I'm not going to pass that up like my sister. But I guess Mom was right when she said Nadia could just move in with you," she said and slapped a hand on his shoulder. "You must be pretty special if my sister trusts you enough to be her boyfriend. Don't fuck it up. My father won't be the only one who will kill you."
Luca chuckled. "Duly noted, Evie."
"The same goes for you, Gordon. Don't hurt my sister or I'll put you in the ground with my father too," Nadia seethed and poked him in the chest.
"Fair enough, Miss Nadia," he laughed, "I'll do no such thing."
"Great. Now that, that's settled. Nadia and I need to sneak in the house and you two need to come in after us," she said as she slipped her arm through Nadia's and tugged her toward the house.
"What was your plan before you caught us?" Nadia asked as they walked away from Luca and Gordon.
Gordon shook his head and looked at Luca. "What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?"
"I have no idea," he laughed and watched the two sisters peek into the back door and run around the house to the front door. Evie laughed and caught Nadia as she stumbled through the grass. "But I wouldn't change any of this."
"Neither would I." Gordon slapped a hand on his shoulder. "And I'm so glad Miss Nadia came into your life."
"So am I," he smiled and looked at Gordon's gleeful face. "I don't think I've ever seen you into anyone like this," he said as they walked toward the cottage.
Gordon shrugged. "I'm not really sure what this is, but there's something about Evie that I don't want to let go of."
He chuckled. "Mm-hm, I know exactly what you mean."
Luca was already in love with Nadia but seeing her with her family just solidified his feelings. One day they'd sign their contract and he'd put a ring on her finger. There was no one else he'd ever consider spending the rest of his life with.
