I woke to the sound of a violin playing softly. My heart clenched in my chest, Izzy? Draina? I haven't heard them play in so long. I opened my eyes and sighed remembering where I am and why I couldn't possibly hear them. They're dead.

I listened to the sound and a smile spread over my lips, it's Vienne. Where did she find a violin? I turned over to watch Darius' sleeping face. The cuts and bruises over his cheeks and forehead were gone from his face and I ran my fingers his smooth skin.

I grinned, I can't believe I actually beat the Asarak. Barely, but he still tapped out before me. I sighed listening to Vienne play, she's really missing our family.

I slowly slid out bed, wrapping a black robe robe around myself. I slipped out of our room, closing the door quietly not to wake Darius.

I went downstairs to the living room and saw Vienne playing outside in the sun on the stone patio.

She looks so happy but so sad at the same time. She was laughing to herself as she played and danced to the old songs my sisters and I used to play together.

I looked around the room wondering where she found a violin and I spotted two cases sitting on one of the sofas. I still don't know where these came from, but I opened the other case and pulled out a bow and the violin.

The wood was exquisite, and the string made of the finest horse hair I've ever felt. I frowned running my fingers over the wood again and smiled shaking my head.

Darius. That man, I chuckled taking the violin outside to play with my sister.

"Jaz! I didn't mean to wake you. I just found these in your library and I thought..."

"You'd play old songs to wake me up to play with you?" I laughed and she grinned.

"Maybe, I just miss them you know? I miss us." She sighed and I nodded.

"Come on, let's play. Let's play so they can hear us." I smiled and she grinned.

"Thank you, Jaz." She smiled as we began playing our sisters' version of Vanessa Carlton's 'A Thousand Miles'. In truth, we all came up with this rendition but Izzy and Draina loved taking credit for it and Vienne and I let them. It never really mattered to us.

"Hit that note Vienne or Draina will be pissed!" I said as she laughed shaking her head.

"Don't forget the back lean, like Izzy! Be dramatic, Jaz!" She commanded as I laughed leaning my body back like Isabella used to do in her performances.

I really needed this. We laughed and danced around the patio as we played together. Joking about all the critiques Draina and Isabella used to give each other when they practiced.

It felt like they were with us again. I can almost feel them around us right now. I smiled at Vienne. Tears welled in our eyes as we fell into the routine together.

"Did you feel them, Jaz?" Vienne smiled ending the last note. I nodded as I hugged her.

"We're going to be okay." I whispered to her. She laughed looking at me.

"I know that, now. You're amazing Jaz." She smiled as we heard a few claps around us.

"I didn't know you could play like that!" Kalvin laughed from the door of the patio. We blushed looking at the small group of family members sitting around us. Darius was grinning at me from the chair closest to me.

How long have you been sitting there? I asked as he grinned squeezing my hand.

"Well they're the sisters of the Elements. It doesn't surprise me they're just as good." Darius smiled bringing my hand to his lips.

Long enough, litani. You're incredible. He smiled pulling me to his lap

"Who are the 'Elements'?" Remus asked and Kalvin nodded in agreement.

Shane gasped in disgust shaking his head.

"They were the best violin duo for at least the better part of the fifties to the nighties!" He huffed.

"Yeah, we never heard of them." Kalvin shrugged.

"You youngins." He grumbled and Darius raised an eyebrow at them.

"Shouldn't you two be on the field? You're still in training li'kues." Darius growled his eyes growing dark as they gulped, quickly getting up from their chairs to stand at attention.

"Yes, Uncle!" They said bowing quickly to him before they disappeared into the house to run to the fields.

"Shouldn't we be going too?" I frowned and he looked at me his eyes soft and light again.

"No, sesti." He laughed his fingers grazing my chin.

"You passed the Rekeseau test you don't need anymore training." He smiled his eyes shining with pride.

"Today, I want to show you Glenshea." He smiled kissing my cheek.

"I would love that." I smiled and looked over at Shane and Vienne cuddled together on the couch.

"Are you and Shane going to be alright here today?" I asked as they smiled nodding their heads.

"Yes, if we get bored we'll just visit Lana and Jack. Don't worry about us, Jaz." Vienne smiled shooing us away as she kissed Shane. I smiled, I'm so glad they feel comfortable here.

Shane and Vienne are more than welcome to live on our compound if they want. Darius said as I looked at him my eyes wide.

Really? I asked. I always thought the Rekeseau compound was for blood relatives only. Like a secret society or something.

No, silly. Your family is our family. We're not a secret society like that weirdo. He smiled standing up taking me with him.

"It's time for a shower." He grinned walking inside and I laughed squirming in his arms.

"Can I at least put my violin away!" I laughed and his dark eyes bore into mine.

"Later." He growled.

You owe me from yesterday. His husky voice rumbled over my throat.

I owe you nothing! I won! I yelled but couldn't help the laugh that burst from my mouth.

You teased me all fucking day! He growled tossing my violin on the bed, ripping my robe off my body.

The way you fucking move, litani. He said huskily lifting me in his arms. I gasped wrapping my legs around his waist. I slid my hands to his cheeks kissing him hard.

I was teasing him all day long, I could feel his need building for me as he watched me fight his nephews. And I moved my body knowing it was driving him insane. I do owe him this.

"Sesan, evela me. Me tu'elo." I moaned biting his lip.

Ja tu'an, litani. He groaned his teeth sinking into my neck as the water sprayed over us and we took each other to the stars.

I smiled braiding my hair away from my face and down my back. I haven't felt this good in a long time. My muscles feel tight and loose all at the same time, like I'm constantly warmed up.

My energy doesn't flow in clunky chops anymore but a smooth rhythmic pulse through my veins. I looked at Darius who was grinning at me as he put a long sleeved grey shirt over his chiseled chest.

Damn, sometimes I forget just how sexy he is. He looks like a damn God and he is all mine. I grinned my eyes trailing up his chest to his blushing face.

"I feel oddly violated right now." He blushed crossing his arms over his chest.

"Awww, never feel ashamed to show yourself to me, dejaino." I mocked pulling his arms away from his chest. He laughed shaking his head.

"You're right." He smiled kissing me softly.

"Let's go, I have the perfect day planned. It's going to be so relaxing." He grinned kissing my cheek his eyes shining with excitement.

His idea of relaxation is completely fucked up. I imagined a nice day walking around the small town, having lunch and getting a nice massage in one of the spas.

But nope. We're hiking in the fucking Highlands. After all that fighting yesterday my asshole dejaino takes me hiking.

Don't get me wrong it is absolutely beautiful and the feel of the earth on this mountain is so pure. But seriously?

"It will all be worth it, sesti, I promise." He laughed.

"It better be." I growled, but smiled taking in the scenery around us. We were high above the town and I can just make out the compound below us.

The landscape cut and sloped through deep valleys filled with deep green meadows and lakes. I closed my eyes, breathing in the air around me. This is pretty relaxing.

"I told you. You're just like me, Jaz. You need to burn energy to relax. You would've been restless if I took you to a spa." He scoffed and I laughed nodding my head. He's right, I wouldn't be able to sit still.

"Come on, we're almost there." He smiled, taking my hand as we began walking into the trees behind us.

I followed him through the forest walking deeper into the thick foliage. The sun disappeared from the heavy tree coverage above us as we followed what was barely a path.

The untrained eye wouldn't be able to find this route and somehow I knew Darius kept it that way on purpose.

"That would be correct," He smiled at me as he pulled back a curtain of thick vines, "because this is my hideout."
