Chapter six

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.-Oscar Wilde
Brielle sat in between Bella, who was driving, and Jacob riding shot gun listening to her music. They drove along the la push cliffs. "If I told you I couldn't have fixed these bikes, what would you have said?" Jacob asked, breaking the silence in the truck. "Are you doubting your mad skills?" Bella smiled, glancing at him. "No. Definitely not. I'm mean, they'll run fine." Jacob laughs," It's just, maybe if I was smart, I would have dragged out the rebuild a bit."If you told me you couldn't fix these bikes, i would say that that's really too bad, but we're just going to have to find something else to do." Bella reassured him with a smile. Brielle, who hadn't been paying attention, looked up, and something moving on a cliff caught her attention, squinting to see to see what it was she saw Sam uley. "Is that Sam uley?" She asked, pointing over to the cliff. "And his cult." Jacob bitterly added as he watched them throw a struggling Jared over a cliff, making Bella gasp, slamming the breaks on her truck.
Bella jumps out the truck Jacob and Brielle following her. Jacob laughs as he looks at the dumb strucked faces of the two girls."They're not really fighting, Bella. They're cliff diving." Jacob told her as if this was normal. "What, on purpose?" Brielle asked, not understanding one bit why a person would want to risk their lives. "Scary as hell, but a total rush." Jacob said as they watched Paul run and flings himself off the cliff twisting in the air and splash into the ocean. "Most of us jump from lower down." Jacob added as he watched the intrigue look on Bella's face.
"Think I could?"
"Man, first motorcycles, now cliff diving?"
"You said it was a rush." Bella said, looking back at him. "Maybe on a warmer day. And not from the top. We'll leave the showing off to Sam and his disciples. " Jacob yet again bitterly says. "You don't like them." Brielle states the obvious. "They think they run this place. Acting all bad ass, calling themselves "protectors." Jacob said as he glared at them from distance. "What are they protecting?" Brielle asks as she takes her eyes off of Jacob and onto the people on the cliff. "The tribe, the land, their right to be jerks. Embry used to call them hall monitors on steroids; now look at him." Jacob said, nodding his head to Embry, who had short hair and a muscular body." That's Embry? I didn't recognize him. What happened to him?" Brielle said as she stared hard at Embry, who dared she say it got super hot."He missed some school - then, out of nowhere, he's following Sam around. The same thing happened with Paul and Jared. They weren't even friends. Now Sam owns them." Jacob told them,"Sam keeps giving me this look, like he's waiting for me or something; it's kinda freaking me out."
"Maybe you should just avoid them." Bella suggests as she looks back at Jacob. "I try but..." Jacob trails off shivering a little. "Hey. If it gets worse, we'll go to my Dad. Or you can come stay with us." Bella offers with a smile. "This is so sappy, and I'm cold. Let's go, guys." Brielle said, shivering slightly through her thick coat that was supposed to keep her warm.

A few days later, Brielle finds herself in Bella's truck with Bella, driving to Jacob's house in the pouring rain. Apparently, while Brielle was home with the flu, Jacob and Bella had hung out, but they got into an argument or something like it, and now Jacob is ghosting Bella. Brielle sneezed as she pulled her coat tighter against her shivering body. Even though the worst of her flu was over, she still had some of the side effects. They pulled into the driveway to see Jacob without a shirt, hair cut short, and tattoo on his arm walking in the rain. Bella got out telling Brielle to stay as she ran up to Jake the two argued back in forth when Jacob locked eyes with Brielle and his whole world stopped as he imprinted on her and just like with other three who imprinted on her and she didn't known she felt a connection which was weird. Breaking the starting contest, she looked down to her coat and began to pick at the string of the coat.
The door of the truck slamming shut snapped her out of playing with her string as she realized a now soaking wet Bella was in the truck crying and an upset Jacob running away. She went to gor reach for the handle of the truck to go give Jake a piece of her mind but Bella stopped her saying something along the lines of I don't want you to get sick again and with that Bella began their journey home with broken hearts. Brielle didn't understand why this was affecting her so much she didn't know Jake as good as Bella did, but yet she felt the same heartbreak as Bella may be even stronger.
That night, Brielle cried herself to sleep because not only did it feel like she lost a friend, but it felt like she lost a piece of herself. She woke up the next day to Bella frantically shaking her, wanting her to accompany her to a clearing her, and Edward used to go to. Yawning she threw light blue skinny jeans with rips at the knee, a white tank top that stopped at her belly button, her tan ugg boots with bows on the back, and her light blue jean jacket with the fur on the inside. She put her hair up in two space buns and brushed her teeth.
Ten minutes later, she found herself in the woods following Bella until they came to an empty meadow. Brielle stood back and watched her sister sink to her knees, gripping the dead like grass in her hands crunching it softly, tears threatening to slide down her pale face. A rustling sound could be heard through the clearing as a darksinned male with red eyes and dread locks stood ten yards from the sisters. Brielle quickly hurried to grip her sisters hand and pull her towards where she stood. "Laurent?" Bella hesitantly called out, not sure if she was imagining him or not. "Bella." He spoke, nodding his head, and Bella realizes he is real and beams calling out his name but this time in excitement. "I must admit, I didn't expect to find you here." Laurant said. "I live here. But you - I thought you were in Alaska with Carlisle's friend." Bella said, her brows furrowing. "Tanya, I was. It was kind of him to arrange, given my association with James and Victoria, "The Enemy." Laurant nodded, inching closer to the swan girls.
" You tried to help us." Bella reminded him as she could see he was inching closer to her and Brielle who by the way was confused as hell as to who this guy was and why did his parents hate him enough to name him Laurant like he was some fashion designer with the way he dressed he would be over looked in the fashion world. "I went to visit the Cullens, but their house is empty. I'm surprised they left you behind. Weren't you sort of a pet of theirs?" Laurant asked as he stole a glance at Brielle, who kept her eyes trained on him. "Um... something like that." Bella said smile faltering as fear began to dawn on her, realizing he was not here for friendly chit chat. "Do the Cullens visit often?" Laurant asked.
"Absolutely. All the time." Bella lied, "I'll tell them you stopped by."Will they be able to reach you in Alaska?"
"I don't think so. Tanya's "vegetarian" family was pleasant enough. But the dietary restrictions were difficult - living on nothing but animals." Laurant said as he at the speed of light was right in front of them. "Tell me, Bella. Do you ever feel compelled to... cheat?" Bella took a step back, taking Brielle with her to get some space between the vampire and them.
"But that's not why I left. I came back here as a favor to Victoria." He said, making Bella confused,"... You're still friends." Laurant only shurgged,"More or less. She asked me to get the lay of the land with the Cullens. Because, well... I'm afraid Victoria is quite put out with you."
"That's... too bad." Bella said, not really knowing how to respond. "Yes. She feels it's only fair to kill Edward's mate, given he killed hers. Eye for an eye, mate for a mate." This makes Bella freeze in fear, heart pounding in her chest as the image of Edward telling her to threaten him appears. "Edward will know who did it. He'll come after both of you." Bella chokes out. " I don't think he will. After all, how much could you mean to him if he left you here unprotected? Victoria sent me here for information. She won't be happy about my killing you." Laurant pointed out.
"No, Laurent..." Bella began to plead only to get shush by the vampire who cupped her face,"No, no, no. Don't be upset. I'm doing you a kindness. Victoria plans on killing you and your sister slowly, painfully - whereas I'll make it very quick. And you smell so... mouth watering." Laurant says as he opens his mouth to bite Bella, who begins to say her last words. I'm not sure if it would work. Brielle, who was still behind Bella pulled Bella away from laurant and pushed him away from them. He goes flying back with a loud thud Brielle looks at her hands that are glowing blue and begans to freak out at how she just threw a freaking vampire away from them how the hell was that possible she didn't even think it would work she just wanted to give Bella more time to run.
Laurant went to charge at Brielle but stopped eyes going wide as he looked behind her. Curious, she looked back to see a big black wolf sulking from the darkness of the woods five more following it. Taking his chance to run, Laurant threw Brielle back and ran across the meadow. Brielle, who was mid-air, screaming body hits Bella, who cushions her fall. Groaning, she rolled off of Bella and gripped her head that was now bleeding. A russet werewolf comes to stand beside her, looking her in the eye before running to join the other wolves. And that's where Brielle blacked out and woke up in her room to her phone ranging.
"Hello." She answered, and the voice of Malia filled her ears. "Brielle, are you okay?!" Malia panic voice exclaimed. "I'm fine. I just tripped, wait, how did you know?" Brielle asked. "I called for you early, and your sister told me." Malia explained and that when it hit her, it was nighttime. "Any word from Lola?" Brielle asked. While Brielle was spending time with Bella and Jacob Lola, he had stopped answering both of them, and it was hurting both her and Malia, but mostly Malia. "No. I even went to her house, but her brother says she has mono and she's sick or whatever." Malia said, her voice sounding defeated. A knock on the door caught Brielle's attention, " I call you back, okay, but don't give up hope on Lola she'll come around. I love you." Brielle said before hanging up. "Come in!" Brielle called out to the person. Her door opens, and in walks, Jacob black.
"What are you doing in here? How did you get in here?" Brielle shot questioned after question to him. Jacob chuckles as he sits on the edge of her bed. "I came in through Bella's window. How's your head you bumped? Did pretty hard on that ." He asked as he gently touched the wound on her head, Brielle hissing slightly at the pain she felt when he touched it. "Why are you here?" She asked, ignoring his previous question about her head. "Have you ever heard the legends of the cold ones?" He asked to which she shakes her head no. Jacob wanted to just straight up tell her he was a werewolf and that she was his mate, but he couldn't go against Alpha's order, especially when he shared his mate with said alpha. So he began to tell her about the story of the cold ones in the hope that she'll piece it together. When he had left, Brielle had realized something. How the hell did he know she bumped her head on a rock.
