Chapter 28
I ended up eating instant noodles by myself in the living room, still bothered about what Soohyun said earlier -
"Do you know what Taehyung and I were gonna do if you weren't home?"
What can they do without me around? Play jigsaw puzzles? I was pretty much annoyed by it, that I eventually got even more curious about their relationship.
Are they really just colleagues? Or they have something on with each other? I had many unanswered questions in mind and no matter how hard I tried to ignore them, I really just couldn't.
"Did you make instant noodles for me too?" Taehyung asked as he was drying his hair with a towel, walking towards me.
"I thought you probably went to have dinner with Soohyun," I said, not looking at him.
He sat on the couch opposite me. "I only had her over because she needed the documents, we didn't go dinner before that," he said, "Even if we did, will you be jealous?"
He smirked, trying to joke with me but I wasn't in the mood.
"Do you think everything's a joke?" I questioned him seriously, and he immediately erased that smug off his face.
"What are you talking about?"
"Are you seriously gonna go out with Soohyun? Because, what's the point of me helping out in this dumb fake marriage thing if eventually you're going out with her?"
His eyes darted at me, then he laughed with no humour. "Dumb, fake, marriage?" He pronunced every word with full emphasis. "Are you sure you're helping me out properly in this thing you call 'dumb fake marriage'? Because if you are, you shouldn't be accepting gifts from another guy."
"Why can't I? They're just gifts," I debated, realising that we were starting to bicker. "How about you, bringing a lady home?"
He stood up, his chest widened as if provoking me, "Didn't I tell you I was only supposed to give her the documents?"
"So you had to bring her over? Can't you just hand it to her the day after at work?" I bit back, slamming the cup of instant noodles on the coffee table. "And if I weren't home, who knows what the two of you could've done."
"Shut up! You're just assuming things, idiot!"
"If you're assuming things about me and Seojun, why can't I do the same?!"
"Are you seriously trying to argue about this with me?!" He raised his voice at me, and I got taken aback.
I sighed, turning away and stomped into the bedroom, slamming the door shut before locking it.
I've got trust issues with him, and it's killing me. I literally had to sacrifice my career for the time being, trying to save his butt off from having to marry a psychopath, but it's just worrying me to much if everything will eventually go to waste if he changes his mind and fall for Soohyun instead.
It will hurt me further for I had also started to have feelings for him.
I spent that night caging myself in the bedroom, not wanting to face Taehyung.
***
I woke up to hear violent knockings on my door. Annoyed, I went up to flung the door open, only to see Taehyung staring down at me.
He rolled his eyes, then pushed his way into the room, banging into my shoulder.
"You could've said excuse me," I spoke.
"Why'd you lock the room door? Now I'm late for work and it's all your freaking fault," he blamed me as he rummaged through his closet for a suit to wear to work.
I ignored him and simply lay on the bed, wanting to continue my sleep.
He was rushing to and fro, getting ready for work as he was already late. When Taehyung was in the shower, I finally came out of room to brush my teeth, then prepare myself breakfast.
Even after he got out of the shower, we ignored each other's presence, and continued doing our own stuffs.
I was done washing the dishes and walked out of the kitchen, when suddenly I caught sight of Taehyung struggling with his tie.
He looked back at me, and I could tell he somewhat needed my help, but was hesitant to ask me.
Should I just walk into the bedroom? Or help him with his tie? I was reluctant.
Why should you care, Hyejin?
I peeled my eyes off him, continuing my steps towards the bedroom.
"Hey you punk," Taehyung called me, and I'm not going to lie, my heart skipped a beat when he did, but I managed to keep a poker face on as I turned to respond to him.
"What?" I raised an eyebrow.
He pointed to his tie, still keeping his cool image on, making me want to slap him with a brick.
I sighed, pretending like I didn't want to help him but I was slowly walking towards him.
"Can you be quick, you sloth. I'm already late for work," he said, frowning at me.
I snatched the tie from him and quickly wrapped it around his collar, tying it quick. I could already feel the awkwardness when he was looking elsewhere, not talking to me when I did his tie.
I took a step back when I was done, "There."
He looked down on his tie and adjusted it, "Do you not know how to tie a tie? It's so messy."
I folded my arms, "Then untie it and do it yourself!"
"Ugh whatever," he grabbed his suitcase, walking out of the house.
World War III between me and Taehyung started, and I wasn't sure how I was supposed to last with him for 6 months if we were in that state.

"Hyejin!" Jinyoung beamed at me cheerfully, "Have you eaten?"
I put down my belongings and donned my apron, "Yes, I have."
"You look bothered today. Are you okay?" She asked, concerned about me.
I faked a smile, "I'm really fine."
"I'm here to listen to your problems if you have any," She said to me, smiling kindly.
"I'm alright," I lied again, grabbing a mop and started cleaning up.
Minutes after, bells rang and someone entered. As expected, it was Seojun. "Good afternoon, ladies."
I smiled weakly at him, then continued doing my work.
"Hyejin?" Seojun walked closer to me, then studied my face, "Are you sick? You don't look fine today."
"I'm not," I put the mop aside and dusted my hands.
"Hyejin ah, if you're not fine, you can take a day off today. I can handle the work by my own," Jinyoung said to me. I turned to her and thought for awhile. A day off doesn't sound so bad.
"Well..." I considered, "Will you be fine alone?"
"Yes, I'll tell the manager about it for you later. You may go now," She told me.
I took off my apron then looked at Seojun, "Why are you here anyways?"
"I just needed to have my usual cup of coffee," he said, brushing his hair back with his fingers.
I smiled, then went to prepare coffee for both of us, before grabbing my bag and left the cafe with him. "Wanna talk for a bit?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Why not?" He answered.
We both went to the park nearby, and sat down at a bench while breathing in the scent of fresh cut leaves. It's quite peaceful being around him.
"Is everything okay? You look bothered," He said, then took a sip on his cup of coffee.
"I bickered with Taehyung, that's all. I'm just..." I held my cup of coffee tightly with two hands, "Maybe it's been long since we ever argued so, I'm probably just shocked."
"You both never changed, huh," he slightly chuckled, "I'm just curious about how you both met again, and even decided to get married too."
I turned to him, speechless. Do I have to explain? "I can't believe it either," I simply said, twisting my head to the front to avoid eye contacts.
"Care to share?"
My heart skipped a beat. I didn't want to tell him initially, but I felt that I needed to pour my heart out. Should I lie? Or can I tell him the truth?
"W-Well, actually," I bit my lower lip, "Taehyung and I are..."
I was interrupted when my phone rang. I sighed, checking the Caller ID. 'Taehyung'.
"Who called?" Seojun asked.
"Uhm, I don't recognise the number," I answered him, keeping my phone into my bag. "Let's go have a meal together," I suggested, and we both went to a nearby food court to have lunch.
The day went on as per normal. Seojun and I talked comfortably and surprisingly, I felt better after being out with him. We talked like old friends, and we had lots of things to share. I didn't tell him about Taehyung and I, yet, but I had the urge to do so.
Evening came, and it was time for me to return home before Taehyung did.
"Thanks for spending time with me today, Hyejin," Seojun smiled at me as we walked home together, "It's nice to talk to you after awhile."
"Yep, you're still the same," I answered.
"You're still the same too," He spoke. "Same old, short, Hyejin," He teased.
I smacked his chest, "Yah! You rascal."
He chuckled, then discontinued his steps, "This is where your new apartment is?"
I nodded. "Thanks for sending me home, I'll see you another time!"
"Don't continue the cold war with your husband alright. It's always better to talk it out, and everything will be fine," Seojun reminded me.
I smiled, "Okay. I'll see how it goes. Thanks again, and be home safely!"
I left him and went into the building. I pressed the button and waited for the elevator to reach the ground floor. I pursed my lips, thinking if I should heed Seojun's advice and talk it out with Taehyung, or I should just let him be.
***
I came out of the shower and was still drying my hair, when suddenly I heard keys dangling. Taehyung must be home, I thought, and I waited for the door to open.
The door knob turned and the door flung open. I was ready to greet Taehyung so that we could talk things out, but I totally changed my mind when I saw that he wasn't alone.
He brought Soohyun over, again.
Taehyung's eyes met mine, but he simply peeled his eyes off me and removed his shoes, stepping into the apartment as if I was invisible.
Soohyun wanted to remove her heels too, but she couldn't keep her balance and ended up holding onto Taehyung's arm.
Anger was arousing within me, and I folded my arms, staring at the two of them. "Excuse me?" I raised an eyebrow, "Did you forget to bring a document again?"
"Why are you making so much noise the moment I'm home?" Taehyung bit back at me as he walked further into the house.
Soohyun saw me, then rolled her eyes, "Taehyung ah, I'll wait for you inside."
My jaw dropped. Wait for him inside? Who the hell gave her the permission to get into my room. I stared at Taehyung, waiting for him to shoo her out of the house, but he simply stood there, looking blankly at her as she made her way into the bedroom.
I breathed in and out intensely. I no longer had patience and stomped towards him, pushing his shoulder, "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!"
Taehyung stared down at me, "What the hell do you want?!"
"YOU'RE A FREAKING BASTARD!" I pushed him, "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!"
"YAH! YOU IDIOT, ARE YOU CRAZY?!"
"HOW CAN YOU BRING A GIRL HOME?! WHAT AM I? A GHOST?" I yelled at him, and tears started welling up in my eyes.
"WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH? IT'S OKAY IF I WANT TO BRING A GIRL HOME, YOU SHOULDN'T CARE. YOU'RE NOT MY REAL WIFE ANYWAYS!" He shouted back at me.
I was about to argue back, but I was interrupted by the clapping of hands.
We both turned to look at Soohyun, as she pressed her phone, then put it away. "What a great scene!" She smiled cunningly, "Good to know that you guys aren't real. You don't love each other anyways."
We both stared blankly at her.
"Did you record everything?" Taehyung asked her.
She laughed with no humour, leaning against the door frame, "When I show it to your parents, I'm sure they'll make you mine, and we'll leave Korea together. Right?"
I charged towards her, dragging her away from the room, "You cunning bitch."
"What? You wanna repeat that again?" She folded her arms and laughed.
Not being able to control my anger anymore, I gave a tight slap on her face.
She got taken aback, and quickly put her palm at the spot where I just hit her, "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE YOU WITCH!" I yelled in her face, pushing her away.
I wasn't able to control myself anymore, I started yelling hysterically while tears kept on rolling down my cheeks.
"It's all over for you when I reveal the truth to Taehyung's parents. You'll pay for this, you pitiful thing," she walked away from me, heading out of the house, before Taehyung stopped her.
"Don't you dare spit anything out to my parents," he clenched his jaw, staring down at her.
"C'mon Taehyung. You don't want to stay with this woman--"
"Who the hell told you to follow me into the house? Didn't I tell you to just wait outside? Did I even tell you to wait for me in the room?" Taehyung attacked her with questions, and I was confused.
"Taehyung ah," she sighed.
"Get lost, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE NOW!" He yelled at her.
She flipped her hair before stomping out of the house and slammed the door close behind her.
I fell to the floor, feeling weak, confused and tired, all at the same time. My head hurt so bad, it felt like a brick was sitting on it.
"It's all a misunderstanding," Taehyung said.
I couldn't respond to him, and I wished I could be alone at that instant.
I heard Taehyung sigh as he walked towards me, "Get up."
"Shut up," I snapped, standing up on my two feet whilst looking down. I wanted to head out of the house, but Taehyung grabbed my wrist and stopped me.
"Where are you going?" He asked without looking at me.
"Let me go, you rascal," I wriggled my wrist out of his grip and quickly ran out of the house before he could chase after me.
I ended up being at the park alone, still weeping bitterly. I was too confused and messed up.
Why is this happening to me? Why did I bring myself into such trouble?
I discontinued my steps and stood rooted to the ground under a lamp pole, closing my eyes. Tears fell, and my heart hurt really bad.
Just then, I heard foot steps behind me, and someone was panting. A pair of arms encircled my waist, and I felt weight against my shoulder. My eyes flung open, and I smelled a familiar scent.
Taehyung placed his head at the crook of my neck as he was still back hugging me, "Hyejin..."
