Chapter 3: Mr. Perfect
Faith (P.O.V.)
I got up this morning feeling very lazy.
Somehow, I felt like I was going to have a bad day.
I went downstairs for breakfast.
When I got to the kitchen, I saw tension between Dad and Keisha.
"What's going on, grandma? dad?" I asked curiously.
"Nun ya business, so step out of it." Keisha scowled at me.
"NO!" Dad yelled, making me jump. "This is her business. She is part of this family as much as you are a young lady, and she deserves to know what her sister is doing behind the family's back."
"What do you mean, dad?" I asked, looking confused.
Keisha had pushed Dad's button before, but I had never seen him this angry.
"I work hard for this family daily, and your sister wastes my money like she is earning it. Keisha has been withdrawing money from her savings account and is not telling me what she is using all that money for."
"What?" I exclaimed. "What the hell, Keisha? The money is in the savings account. What the hell is your problem?"
"It is my savings account, and it sure as hell don't concern nobody on what the f**k I do with it," Keisha answered bitterly. "It is nobody's business what I do with it and where I spend it. Shit, I don't owe anybody any explanation."
"Your money?" Dad asked angrily. "This is my money. My hard-earned money that I save for your future. I earned it so both of you can have a safe and secure future."
"Keisha, this is ridiculous. This is insane. What the hell? Dad works so hard to support this family. He is a dad, a friend, and also a..."
I stopped as it was hard for me to finish the sentence.
I knew what I wanted to say, but it was hard.
"And a what!?" Keisha exclaimed. "Huh!? You can't f**king finish it? The only thang that's ridiculous is you. You the one that shattered this family. We are in this condition because of you, Faith. You ain't gone stand there lecturing me pretending to be Ms. Perfect when we all know how shallow and selfish you are. Don't preach, girl. Jus' don't get me started, else shit gone get real up in here."
The house was silent.
Everybody was speechless.
I couldn't say anything.
I stood there as tears welled up in my eyes.
I knew she spoke the truth no matter how much I tried to deny it.
Every word she said was accurate, and I knew that deep down inside.
Dad and grandma believed it, too, but were hiding it.
"Keisha, enough!" Grandma yelled, breaking the silence. "I've had enough of your rude behavior, attitude, and language. I've had enough. You have no right to speak to your father and sister like that. Stop blaming other people and take responsibility for-"
"Responsibility for what grandma?" Keisha interrupted. "My actions? What about yo lovely granddaughter? Has she ever taken responsibility for her actions? Shoot. Ya'll jus' some haters. Ya'll are biased. Fvcking biased. I get yelled at for anything, but she gets away with breaking ya'll lovely family. What the f**k does-"
"STOP!" Dad yelled. "Get out of my sight this very moment."
Keisha just stood there, adjusting her hair.
"I said leave Keisha!" Dad continued.
"Fine!" Keisha said. "Anyways, I ain't finna waste ma morning arguing with ya'll."
Keisha rolled her eyes and left the kitchen.
I just stood there in shock.
I somehow managed to hold back my tears.
I can't break down in front of Dad and Grandma.
They can never see me as weak.
The car ride to school was silent.
Dad didn't say anything, and I didn't either.
I knew my day would be bad, but I didn't imagine it to be this bad.
After Dad dropped me off, I started to walk to my locker.
My morning I started so bad that I wasn't even paying attention to my surroundings.
I was so busy in my thoughts that I didn't realize when a car came in front of me.
The driver pulled the brake, and I fell.
All the things in my bag fell on the floor.
I got hurt in the arm, but my things were more important.
I was pissed at the blind idiot that was driving the car.
I suddenly felt a hand touch my shoulder. This just made me more angry.
"Don't touch me!" I exclaimed, standing up to face the driver.
After I faced him, I saw he was the same boy from yesterday.
He was the rude boy from the video game design class.
He stood there looking at me with a weird expression.
"What? Are you disappointed?" I asked angrily.
"Excuse me?" He replied with a confused expression.
"By the way you were driving, it seemed like you were trying to kill me, but I survived," I answered bitterly.
"What!?" He exclaimed.
This is ridiculous. He was driving so harshly, and now he was acting like he had no idea what I was talking about.
"If you don't know how to drive a car, then why do you drive?" I said.
I saw he was starting to fume, but I didn't care.
It was his fault, and I was not going to let him off that easily after he almost killed me.
"If you don't know how to walk in public places, then why don't you stay home," he replied.
"If you don't know how to talk to people, then why do you even bother talking," I said, looking him straight in the eyes.
He stared straight into my eyes, too.
"Nobody ever talked to me like that," he said after a moment of silence.
"No wonder you are so rude," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
He looked furious but didn't say anything.
He rolled his eyes and started to walk away.
I started to pick my things off the floor.
"I was better off in Iowa," I said to myself. "There are so many creeps and weirdos here. Nobody has any respect for new people."
"People around here earn respect," Someone said from behind me.
I stood up and saw that he didn't leave yet.
He observed me from head to toe.
"If you walk around campus looking like a joke, people will stare at you," He said with a smirk.
I couldn't believe he just said that.
There was a limit to everything.
What the hell does he think of himself? How dare he?
"Excuse me, but is there a restriction on how I dress?" I asked, pointing at my outfit.
He stood there funnily, looking at me.
"You are giving me that judgemental look," I said. "What the hell is wrong with the people here?"
"If you have such a big problem with the people here and the looks we give you, why don't you do yourself a favor and go back to Iowa," He suggested with that silly smirk.
"What? So now, are you some traffic police that tells people where they should and need to be?" I said.
He gave a very annoyed expression.
"Anyways, I have no interest in this place or talking to you," I said.
"Great," He said. "I am not interested, too. I don't know about you, but now you are wasting my precious time."
"Whatever," I said, rolling my eyes.
I sling my bag over my shoulder.
We turned our backs against each other and walked away from one another.
I knew for sure that these two paths would never cross each other.
"I can't believe it!" I exclaimed. "He is just so rude."
"I believe that person you are talking about is Evan Owens, alias Mr. Perfect," Max replied, adjusting his glasses.
I snickered when he said that.
"Oh please, that is far from perfect, " I replied, shaking my head.
"Well, that is what everybody knows him as." He said. "His dad, Dave Owens, is one of the biggest business tycoons in San Diego. His dad rules the school and other places since they are so rich. That is why he gets away with the way he behaves. Everything about him is perfect. Well, at least according to him. How he dresses, where he lives, his family, friends, girlfriend, talent, etc. Everybody also finds him perfect, so they call him Mr. Perfect."
"That is ridiculous. I don't see anything perfect there. I don't care who the hell he is. Psh, he can even be Bill Gates's son, and I still wouldn't give a damn. If Evan freaking Owens crosses my path, I will not tolerate his nasty behavior and attitude. He may be perfect for everybody else, but he is just an ordinary spoiled rich brat to me."
If he comes my way, I will not stay silent because he is ''Mr. Perfect.''
