Dog
We can truly learn a lot from the tail wagging, loyal and kind companions that many people keep at their side. God wants us to have loyalty like that of the dog. Whether you have faith the size of a chihuahua or have faith the size of a Great Dane you should be equally as loyal just like the dog that may sleep at the end of your bed at night. In 1 John 3:23-24 we see that we should love one another just like the love between the owner and the dog. We also see that if we keep God's commands, we will live together by the spirit we have been given. Just like the dog who knows his commands and responses well regardless of a treat or not. We should be ready to follow God's desires for us regardless of the outcome. In Deuteronomy 7:9 we see that if we are loyal to God, He is also loyal to us. This is because God is loving and caring. Even when we mess up, He is always there to take you right back into His arms. When the owner's dog gets ill the owner cares for him and gives him love to help the dog feel better, and when the dog rips up an important document the owner will still love the dog no matter what because the owners dog is his. Just like we are God's children he will still love and care for us even when we fall sick or sin.
1 John 3:23-24 New International Version (NIV)
23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God's commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
Deuteronomy 7:9 New International Version (NIV)
9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
