Assassination Attempt

While in office, perched in his highback chair

the chief offender against a holy God

clenches his fist in defiance of the Most High

railing torrents of blasphemy

concocting plans of evil infamy

"Is it I?"

While you still have time

Hire the hitman supreme

Who beat the devil once and for all

His fee...His life (for us - no cost)

His weapon...resurrection from the Cross

A/N: Okay, the language here may be bizarre to say the least, comparing what Jesus did for us on the cross to hiring a hitman. You'll probably never see that again. But hear me out; I use these types of images to make a point. Our sin problem is so great that we need something so extreme to get rid of it. Only Jesus's death on the cross can take care of this problem. So, in using extreme language, using analogy, my goal is remind us that we need a Savior, so other-worldly, to help us beyond our sins. That Savior is Jesus.
