Soul Sobriety

Ghoulish how it all devolves

in the economy of a soul

Importation of thoughts deemed sublime

yet underneath the evil corrupts the outer whole

My liberation in Christ

subjugated to mindless droning impulses

that in the end bring only death –

Starvation from my Lord

Exportation of everything righteous and holy

from Christ to the depths of me

Totally dependent on my will to kill

every evil stain that rises from beneath    

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.  [Gal 5:16]
