Chapter 2
June 27th
3:15 Pm
After a while of calming Lance down as he neared tears, Keith realized how weird he was. Sure, he was normally weird, but this tops the cake. Why would you want to help Lance so bad? He wondered to himself. Is it because Lance is his friend? No. he normally fought with Lance 24/7. Was it because he felt more than just friends? Keith shook that thought away. Too soon. He probably doesn't even feel the same way. I DONT FEEL THAT WAY ANYWAYS!
Lance was noticing Keith's strange behavior, and he had began to get awkward, himself. He gave up on talking once Keith convinced him to get out of the stall, and he gave up looking at Keith at all as they walked back to the movie.
Sitting back down in his seat, Lance felt horribly alone when Keith swapped seats with Pidge. He began to cry, facing away from everyone else. No one heard him except himself.
Keith was silently broken. He didn't mean to hurt Lance while they were out, and he certainly didn't want to be separated from him now, but a feeling in his stomach made him feel avoidant towards Lance. He clenched his hands into fists for the rest of the movie.
June 27th
4:00 Pm
Lance sat in the back like normal. His eyes were red and ragged, showing he had cried, but he managed to hide them from the gang up until now. He rested his head on the frame of the window, and watched the scenery, the smell of forest and flowers filling the car.
Keith looked at Lance, and was somewhat startled when he noticed he had been crying. He could tell by the way his eyes looked. He looked away and sighed, I'm sorry lance..
"Pidge, we are here!" Shiro called and she hopped out of the car. She stared at her house, large and painted a lively shade of green. "See ya dorks!" She shouted, giving a peace sign at them before walking into her house.
"Next stop, Lance's house!" Shiro smiled. Lance was suddenly filled with fear. He wanted to be anywhere but home.
"U-UH ACTUALLY-" he coughed, noticing his voice sounded terrified, "Can you drop me off at Ukulele Practice?" He smiled.
"Sure" Shiro shrugged, taking a turn onto a different road, "Keith, your next then" He smiled and turned to Keith. "You ready?"
"I'm ready" Keith said. His voice sounded shaky, and hoarse. Lance looked at Shiro, and he seemed concerned as well. He decided to act.
"Actually, I can skip my Ukulele practice this week" Lance looked at Shiro. "Can you drop me and Keith off at the stop sign?" He said, pointing to a large red Stop sign coming up.
Keith looked at Lance to object, but Lance gave him a look to signal for him to shut up. Keith quickly looked away as they began to stop.
"Stay safe" Shiro said as the two got out of the car, and began to drive off with a wave of his hand out the window.
"Alright, what gives, Lance? Why did you want us to come here?" Keith asked, though he already knew the answer. Lance saw him upset. But it wasn't for any reason besides Lance. He hated seeing Lance upset. He didn't know why it happened, but he couldn't stand to see the look of sadness in Lance's eyes.
"You were sad. Tell me why" Lance said, in a more soothing voice than he thought he could do. Keith gave him a look, a look that said, because I care about YOU, dummy.
Lance looked away, "it wasn't because of me, was it?" He sighed, "I'm sorry man, I didn't mean to hurt you like that-"
"You didn't hurt me!" Keith shouted. "Your an idiot! I'm stronger than I look!" Keith looked away and began to storm off, but Lance grabbed his arm.
"Keith, I'm sorry" Lance said, his voice cracking slightly. "Please just, don't walk away" he stood up straight and the sadness went away, I'm not going to get sad because of this lunatic. He told himself with a slight grin. "let's just take a walk or something?"
Keith groaned in annoyance, but accepted the fact he wasn't getting out of this any time soon and would have to walk with Lance anyways.
As the two walked, Lance became more insecure. If he was crying because I was hurting, he's most likely going to question why I was crying-
"Lance" Keith said, annoyed. That's when Lance realized Keith had said his name about 3 other times. "Wha- yeah?"
"Why were you sad, man?" Keith looked at him, and Lance felt a strange bond of trust between them.
"Well....-" he paused as thoughts overwhelmed him. You don't have to tell him anything! It's not his business! He has no right! Lance squeezed his eyes shut, clenching his jaws together.
Keith was about to say something else, but Lance began to storm off.
"Wait! Lance!" Keith called, but Lance wasn't listening. He was drowning. Drowning in his thoughts.
No one would want to help me anyways!
