Chapter 3

June 27th
4:15Pm

Lance had been walking as fast as he could and managed to loose Keith, he didn't want to hear it anymore. Why were you upset?! You gotta be kidding me, why WOULDNT I be upset! Lance sighed and rested against a tree.

Lance felt a rain drop hit his hand, and looked up at the sky. It was a cloudy grey, most likely lightning was going to strike.

"Good going genius" Lance said to himself with a sigh, and closed his eyes, listening to the rain and thinking about the sky.

After a good five minutes, he was calmed down, but he jumped as he realized Keith and him had strayed from the park when Lance stormed off, and Keith was left behind alone. CRAP!

Lance began to run around, looking around in caves and around bushes. He couldn't find him. His mind was swirling in panic, I can't tell my friends I left Keith behind!

Lance paused as he heard faint crying. He looked around as thunder shook the ground, making the crying get a little louder. Lance followed the cries, and spotted Keith, at the entrance to a cave, turned to face the inside of the cave.

Lance felt a pang of guilt for leaving him alone, and walked over to him, "Keith? Buddy?" He said softly.

Keith looked over at Lance, "La-" The thunder struck once more, and Keith cowered and trembled, his eyes watering with tears.

Lance sat down beside Keith and wrapped his jacket (which was just barely soaked from rain) around Keith, and held him close, humming a soft tune to block out the thunder.

Keith felt his trembling lessen as he focused more on Lance's humming, and he rested against Lance, closing his eyes.

Lance watched Keith and sighed, "I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have left you" he said, looking away feeling guilty.

"It's okay" Keith said, his eyes still closed. Lance felt slightly relieved as he began humming again, filling the cave with it.

Lance had never been more relieved.

Lance helped Keith to his feet. The rain had stopped, and birds were chirping outside. Keith had slept through the rest of the storm thanks to Lance's humming. Lance enjoyed it.

"Crap. I'm gonna be late for Ukulele practice.." Lance sighed, taking out his phone. "You think Shiro will take me?"

"I don't know" Keith shrugged, "Call him" he suggested, unwrapping his arm from Lance.

Lance nodded and tapped his phone a few times, then found the calling app. He pressed it and dialed Shiro's number, looking at Keith Hopefully.

Holding the phone up to his ear, he heard Shiro pick up after a few buzzes, "Hey, Shiro? You think you can drop me off at Ukulele practice? I need to be there by 4:30. Also.. we are kinda lost by a cave.."

Keith listened as the faint mumble of Shiro replied to Lance's request, and Lance nodded, "yes, the cave is large. Oh, okay! Alright, we'll be out near the stop sign" and with that he ended the call.

Keith looked at him expectantly, "so?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. Lance found it ador- weird. Completely weird.

"Stop tilting your head, mullet" Lance stuck his tongue at Keith, "Shiro's picking us up at the stop sign. Shiro can take you home after he drops me off. Now let's go, he gave me directions" Lance said, grabbing Keith's arm and dragging him.

Lance and Keith hopped into Shiro's car, relieved. Mosquitoes were hanging out by the stop sign, and they wouldn't leave the two alone.

"Alright, we gotta hurry" Shiro said, driving off towards Jay St., where Lance's Ukulele practice was. He practiced at a café called WillowHall Café, with his teacher.

As they came to a stop, Lance jumped out, dashing towards the Café.

"Thanks Shiro! I owe you one!" He called from over his shoulder, and he ran inside.

Keith watched, slightly wishing he would have asked to go and watch him practice, but he would have felt rude to ask. As Shiro pulled away, Keith saw Lance walk out with his teacher, a women in her late 30s, sit down with a ukulele.

"We should be at your house in 20 minutes" Shiro said, but Keith didn't reply. Keith was too busy watching Lance, smiling, until they were no longer in sight.
