NINE
"HOW LONG ARE YOU going to take?" Zeus groaned exasperated into the pillow that was covering his face, "I came home FOUR hours ago!"
Hera glared at the mound of pillows and blankets through the mirror, "as long as I need." She huffed, applying her red lipstick before playing around with her hair. "I don't like this makeup look it's too gold. I'm going to start again.." she trailed off watching the mound of blankets and pillows wriggle around in protest.
"NO. I am not waiting another four hours for you to do your damn cut crease I'm sure you look fine!" Zeus exclaimed, rolling off the bed to then pick himself up and dust off his knees.
Once Zeus had managed to piece himself back together, it was time for him to fall apart once more. He took one look at Hera in that goddamn crimson dress and forgot how to form sentences. His next few " words " were a series of "uh"s and "umms." Needless to say, Hera got her desired response.
"Is there something wrong?" Once again giving him eye contact through the mirror, with a smug smile playing at her lips. Zeus, still silent, shook his head and tried to swallow the lump in his throat.
"No." Zeus croaked hoarsely. His throat was suddenly very dry and he was at loss for words, he stepped towards Hera while staying behind her.
"You sound parched." She teased, beginning to put in her earrings.
"Maybe I am." Zeus's voice stayed low as he traced the curve of Hera's hips with his finger.
Hera froze under Zeus's touch. It felt almost foreign to her after all this time of arguing and isolation, she forced a small smile and shook her head at her husband.
"I'm trying to put these earrings in, if you don't move away I'll elbow you." She half heartedly threatened him, to which he just shrugged in response.
"That turns me on a little." He gave her a boyish grin before the couple fell into a comfortable silence. Zeus watching Hera fiddle and apply her final touches.
Zeus hesitated before speaking up, "why didn't you tell me?" He deadpanned. "You should've just called I would've come home. I - I thought we were in this together."
Hera finally turned to face Zeus, her eyes were brimmed with tears. She looked at him for a solid couple minutes before finally choking out, "I missed you so much."
Zeus wrapped his arms around her petite frame and kissed the top of her head, "don't cry, you'll ruin four hours worth of work." He attempted to diffuse the tension, which worked for a moment as Hera laughed through her tears, before beginning to cry again. Zeus pulled away in order to wipe her eyes.
"Your tears look like they're made of gold." He shook his head as he wiped his, now, gold fingers on his trouser. He hugged Hera once more, this time rocking side to side gently as she cried as much as she needed to.
A few minutes had passed before Zeus spoke up again, holding Hera's chin to make her look at him, "I'll cancel the reservation, we can have a quiet night in," he kissed her softly, "just the two of us." at this point he was once again speaking in a low whisper.
Hera smirked and pushed Zeus onto the bed. "Do what you want." She declared, only to be greeted by Zeus's blazer which hit her face when he excitedly threw it off.

Zeus was scrolling through various social media's while absentmindedly stroking Heras hair, who was sprawled across his body fast asleep. Her skin was cold and soothing compared to his which was always so warm Hera would think that he has a flu.
Zeus had an epiphany, and this time it would do good for his and Hera's relationship.
