Evelyn and Nyleve were now 10 moons old. And STILL not apprentices! Nyleve's heart had grown as bitter as her sisters. The two sulked around in the shadows, glaring at any cat who passed, sending them scurrying away. Nyleve clawed the grass, frustrated. Why had the leader, Shadow not made them apprentices by now? Shadow was a light grey tom and his brother Wodahs was a dark brown tom.

Shadow leaped onto the Calling Rock to summon his cats for a meeting. Evelyn and Nyleve gathered towards the back. Shadow looked directly at them. "Evelyn, Neleve it is time to become apprentices." He said. All the cats gasped, and Evelyn and Nyleve stepped forward. Nyleve didn't look happy. She looked rather mad that it took Shadow this long to make them apprentices. "I, Shadow, call upon my ancestors to look down upon these two cats. They have proven themselves worthy of being apprentices for the great country Exnix. Evelyn, your mentor will be Lizzy. Lizzy," he turned to the light blue she cat. "Do you promise to teach young Evelyn the ways of Exnix cats?" "I do." Lizzy replied and Shadow turned to Evelyn "and Evelyn, do you promise to learn our noble ways?" "I do!" Evelyn did a little bounce and touched noses with Lizzy. "Yzzil," Shadow called to Lizzy's light orange sister. "Do you promise to teach young Nyleve the ways of Exnix cats?" "I do..." Yzzil replied somewhat reluctantly and Nyleve growled softly, causing her to wince. "And Nyleve, do you promise to learn our noble ways?" Shadow continued. "I do." Nyleve growled. Yzzil slowly touched noses with Nyleve and winces when she saw the fierce glare in the young cats eyes. The light of Nyleve's red eyes lit up both of their faces. The cats that were gathered all scrambled away from the strange cat who seemed to have froze her mentor. Yzzil was standing there bristling and rigid, her eyes locked into Nyleve's eye's flowing red depths. Evelyn was the only cat who had not run away. She cocked her head, starring at her sister. Was that... blood flowing from her sisters claws? She blinked and the vision was gone. What did it mean?
