-Chapter Eight-
I yawned that evening tired as I walked out of the precinct. It had been a long day of walking around in the sun. Not to mention listening to Louisa mutter the entire time about the whole situation I was in.
"My gut chica, my gut tells me this isn't good", she would repeat over and over again.
"Ay Louisa drop it!", I would grumble.
Now though as I opened the door she wasn't there. The car wasn't there either. I flinched panicking and I felt my pockets for any keys. But I did feel my phone go off vibrating like crazy.
"Louisa! Where the heck is the car!?", I yelled.
"Chica! Chica! Calmate!", she snapped not liking my tone. (Girl! Girl! Calm down!)
"Calm down! Why the he-!", I stopped myself hearing the radio in the background with music playing.
"Did you take the keys from me and leave?!", I asked.
"Cassidy said she got sick, I was worried", said Louisa.
Complete lie.
I grumbled shaking my head and crossed my arms, "Your kidding me, you steal the keys, you take the car, you leave me, now you try to cover your tracks with the old she's sick trick. Louisa spill the beans please, I know you have something planned", I said.
"It wasn't my idea", said Louisa.
"That would be a first", I muttered.
I ran my fingers through my hair, "Fine, I'll walk home", I huffed.
Now Louisa panicked, "Chica! No! No! Just wait! Just wait!", she said.
I pointed to the parking lot looking around, though she wasn't there I was trying to understand what the heck was going on.
"Wait for what!? There is nothing out here! What am I supposed to wait for!?", I asked frustrated.
"Klein!", called a familiar voice.
I glared at Louisa through the phone, "You seriously did not!?", I hissed.
Louisa laughed, "Chica it wasn't my idea", she said playfully.
"I will charge you with assisting", I said.
"It's not a crime to set up a date", said Louisa.
"Date? You really....Louisa....", I rolled my eyes looking up at the sky hand now on my hip and I kicked at the ground, "What am I going to do with you?", I sighed.
"Have fun chica! Now, I need to drive, I'm about to enter a school zone", said Louisa.
I heard the phone go dead, "Louisa?", I asked.
No response.
I took the phone from my ear staring, "She just hung up on me", I muttered under my breath.
"She hung up on me", I repeated stunned.
I tucked my phone back in my pocket. I must've looked like a complete idiot since I heard someone familiar laughing their head off behind me.
"What?", I asked turning to see Officer Chad.
He waved smiling, "You look surprised", he said.
"Well yeah! She left me!", I said gesturing to the empty lot where the car once was.
"Was your vehicle stolen Mam'm?", teased Officer Chad driving over in his.
"Really funny", I said annoyed.
He pointed, "I see your smile, I see it Klein", he said.
I rolled my eyes blowing a bubble with my bubble gum and it popped loudly.
"Am not", I retorted, of course that was a complete lie too. I was so bad at acting.
"And you aren't hungry?", he asked tilting his head.
"No, not-!", as I spoke my stomach growled. That was embarrassing.
"Well....you know there's this little place I know of....", he said.
It was my turn to laugh this time. He was getting flustered. It was cute.
"What does this little place have?", I asked.
Officer Chad shrugged, "Donuts.....and other stuff", he replied.
"Donuts?", I asked with raised eyebrows.
He nicked his head from side to side hand on the steering wheel, "Yeah...the whole cop cliche thing, I like donuts", he said smiling.
I smiled, "I like donuts too", I said.
