Taehyung's POV

"Your project is due in three days. You and your partner must work together to create a poster, write a report, and make a PowerPoint off of your summer reading book," The teacher said, her eyes narrowed onto the students. I rolled my eyes, glancing at the desk to my right, seeing Jungkook scribble down some notes.

"This project counts as forty percent of your grade, so try your best on it. This grade will determine if you pass or fail for the semester." Jungkook continued to write stuff down, groans heard throughout the room. "Am I understood?" She asked, the students mumbling a yes.

I leaned back in my seat, finally seeing Jungkook lift his head up, his eyes meeting mine. He smiled, closing his eyes while doing so. "Partners?" I teased, hearing him giggle and nod. "Partners." I nodded too, staring ahead as the teacher sat back down at her desk, typing away at her computer.

The bell rang a few minutes later, Jungkook and I grabbing whatever things we had and rushing out of the room. I held his textbook for him, holding his hand as well as we walked throughout the busy hallways. "So, where are we going to work on this project?" Jungkook smiled, leading me down the hall and towards a place I haven't been before.

The library here at school.

"Your place wasn't good enough?" I teased, seeing him roll his eyes in playful annoyance. "Well, the summer reading book we read isn't at my house, it's here at school. They had hundreds of copies, and I highly doubt they're all gone, especially since the project was only assigned today." I nodded, letting him lead me towards the back area of the library near a few computers.

I grabbed my phone, pretending to text Jimin and Namjoon, trying to make it less obvious that I was mind-linking them. They responded into the mind-link immediately, Jungkook and I took a seat at two computers in the back corner.

Jungkook logged onto the computer, typing away and opening what he called a Google doc. I watched him get up from his computer and turn around to look at the shelves of books. He walked away for a while, coming back with a book in his hands.

"In Cold Blood?" I read aloud, seeing the title of the book placed on the cover. He nodded, flashing a small smile as he sat back down. "Wasn't really my choice, they made us read it," He spoke, setting the book down between his computer and mine.

"What's it about?" I asked.

"A family that was murdered." My eyes widened a bit, looking at the book. "It's not as bad as you may think it is, but it's still not the most exciting book in the world. That's only my opinion though." I hummed, leaning my elbow on the desk, my chin placed on my palm.

"Do you have a favorite book or series?" He nodded, his eyes seeming to light up at my question. "I do, actually. I'm a really big fan of The House of Night series." My eyebrows raised, a giggle leaving his lips. "And what is that series about, exactly?"

"Vampyres," He whispered, a blush spreading across his cheeks. "Vampires? You like stuff like that?" He nodded excitedly, pressing his palms together. "I'm a huge fan of mythology! I like vampires and mermaids and witches, all of that. Granted they aren't real, but it's really cool to read about!"

I hummed, my mind swirling around that. Was it possible that he could have read a werewolf book? One that he believed was simply fiction but turned out to be real? "Earth to Taehyung," He said, my head snapping over to meet his gaze. "You alright?"

I nodded, flashing a smile. I turned my head around, the scents that belonged to my friends hitting me. They smiled, waving as they walked toward us, taking a seat at two of the computers next to ours. Jungkook, Jimin, and Namjoon exchanged a greeting, a growl forming in my throat when they got too close.

"So, why are you two in here?" Jimin asked, leaning back in his chair and picking a book off the shelf from behind him. "We have a project due in three days, so we need to start working on it." I hummed, nodding in agreement even though I had no fucking idea what we were doing.

"Can you get started on the PowerPoint? You can use my school email to work on it, just go to Google slides." I cocked an eyebrow, logging into Jungkook's account on the school computer and heading for the chrome browser. I typed in Google slides, seeing the website pop up.

"Oh, well this is convenient," I mumbled, seeing the different templates on the screen. He nodded, flashing a smile and pointing to the one he wanted me to click on. I opened it up, writing down the title of the book on the first slide as well as the author.

Next, I typed out both Jungkook's and I's names, making more slides to add. "Okay, so, it says here that we need to have a minimum of ten slides and a maximum of twenty. So, anywhere in between is fine. Each slide has a different purpose."

I rolled my eyes at this bullshit assignment but listened. "The first slide after the title is about the author. We need to write some history of him and why he chose to write the book." I nodded, snatching the book from his hands and glancing at it. There had to be some information on the author somewhere in this book.

"If you can't find anything, just look it up. Open a new table and search the author, I'm sure thousands of entries about him will appear." Namjoon and Jimin were gone by now, walking around the library, their voices heard a few rows down. I searched through the book, finding a bit of information about the author and writing it down.

I glanced over at Jungkook's computer, seeing him work on the book report. He had a Google doc, or at least that's what he called it, open and he was typing quickly. At the top of the page, bolded words spelled out the sentence 'In Cold Blood: Book Report.'. I hummed, watching him at work, his eyes focused on the computer screen.

He had at least three hundred words in by now, a laugh leaving my lips. "You're good at this," I murmured, seeing him shake his head and turn away from the monitor, continuing to type. "Not exactly, I just read the book while about half to the class didn't bother. I like reading, so I figured it couldn't hurt to read a book, y'know?"

I nodded, continuing to watch him work. Time passed rather quickly and I had finished with the first slide. I pulled the paper about the PowerPoint out from beneath his arm, studying it and seeing what else we had to do. "It says that the next slide is about the book itself. Summarize what it's about and the significance of it."

He nodded, a groan leaving my lips. I could hear him laugh, his typing coming to a stop and his eyes meeting mine. "Well, the book itself is about the murder of a family by some criminals. The family was somewhat wealthy and lived on a farm. They were known by the surrounding neighbors and the town, everyone pretty much loved them."

He continued to explain the book, my mind swirling around the information he was telling me. I began to type down the facts about the book, letting my mind pretty much take control. When that slide was over, I glanced back to see Jimin and Namjoon with wide eyes, a book in their hands.

"What's wrong?" I asked them, their heads snapping up from the book. They visibly gulped, closing the book and turning the cover towards me so that I could see it. My eyes widened in shock, my jaw dropping open. "They might know about us..." Namjoon spoke, gulping again.

The book was a werewolf book. It was the book almost all pack houses carried. It was the history of werewolves.

"You alright?" Jungkook asked, nudging me while I snapped out of my thoughts. "Yeah- yeah I'm... I'm fine," I stuttered a bit, shaking my head and turning away from my friends. Jungkook glanced at Jimin and Namjoon, reading the title of the book.

"Are you guys interested in books like that?" He asked with a fond smile, my eyes meeting his once more. Jimin clutched the book tightly, pressing it to his chest. "You could say that I suppose." He didn't put the book down, glancing at Namjoon, the two of them disappearing behind some more shelves.

"I'm stealing the book. These humans can't afford to find it, not when this lists every single fact about us. Weaknesses, strengths, facts, legends, it's too risky." I heard Jimin say, my head moving up and down in a nod. "You're doing it again," Jungkook said, typing away at his computer.

"Doing what?" I asked, seeing him roll his eyes playfully and nudge me. "You're doing that thing where it looks like you're having a conversation internally. What's up with that? Are you thinking or something?" I hummed, shrugging a bit.

"Something like that."

We continued working on the project, finally hitting a stopping point for the day. Jungkook and I talked for a while, the two of us sitting at the computers while Namjoon and Jimin roamed the library. About an hour had passed when they joined us again, sitting down at the computers next to mine.

"You guys want to go out for dinner or something? I'll buy." I flashed a smile, taking Jungkook's hand in my own. "Thank you, but I think we've already cost you enough." Namjoon and Jimin nodded in agreement, their eyes flashing with something I couldn't make out. Jungkook waved it off, shaking his head.

"It's fine. I can afford it, don't worry. So, do you guys want to or not?" I laughed. Namjoon and Jimin shrugged, agreeing into the mind-link. I nodded, leaning forward and placing a quick kiss to Jungkook's forehead. "Thanks, Angel."

He blushed but nodded. "Before we go, is there any way I can check my email here at the school computers?" He nodded, showing me how. Now, I may look like an idiot due to the fact that I don't know what I'm doing on computers, but in Swiftcrest we weren't allowed to go online for anything.

Hence my stupidity when it comes to computers. "Alright, thank you. I don't think it'll take me long, I just want to see if my family has emailed me," I lied, typing in the information for my email and logging in. Seconds passed and emails after emails loaded in, mostly from apps that I didn't use on my phone.

However, one caught my attention, my body tensing up tightly. I recognized the email address, and I had a really bad feeling about this. With a gulp, I hovered over the email, clicked on it, letting it load up. It was a letter, and what it said made my heart drop.

Namjoon and Jimin caught on, the two of them leaving in to read the email with me. Fear filled my body, anger boiling beneath my skin. My wolf surfaced, his anger almost making my eyes flash blue. I found myself frozen, rereading the email over and over again.

Dear V,

Did you think it would be that easy to get away from me? Did you really believe that I'm stupid enough to leave the airport defenseless with no warriors?

If so, you're dumber than you look. You may have fled the country, but you're not free from us quite yet. Enjoy your small freedom while you can, it won't last long.

You've messed with the wrong pack, V. Swiftcrest isn't the pack to play games with. I'm coming for you. It's about time you join your family in their eternal suffering.

You may run, but you can't hide.

-Chanyeol.

I looked at Namjoon and Jimin, fear seen within their faces. Jungkook was confused, eyebrows furrowed, his head resting on his palm. I felt a growl form in my throat, my body not even holding it back. The growl was deep and vicious, my eyes locking with my friends'.

"They found us."

-·=»‡«=·-

The secret that they're keeping from Jungkook is slowly coming undone and Jungkook is growing more suspicious. Will he find out on his own or will something make the truth come flying out?

Swiftcrest isn't the only threat returning to the book. Do you know the other?

I purple you 💜

~Pisanthrophobia.
