Taehyung's POV
"You're so falling for this kid."
"For the last and final time, Park. I am not falling for him." Jimin rolled his eyes, walking beside me as we headed to school, snickering while I fought back a growl. "So then, what? What's your plan if you're not falling for him?"
"Okay, fine! I felt bad for him, alright? You can tell he just..." I paused, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk, hands clenching into fists. "He just wants to be protected, fought for." Jimin smiled, placing a hand on my shoulder, his smile turning into a smirk.
"Anything for the alpha's mate, right?" He teased, laughing alongside Namjoon, the two of them continuing to walk to school. I smiled, walking behind them, my hands shoved deep within my pockets as we neared the school grounds.
Maybe having a mate wouldn't be so bad.
"Are we late or just really fucking early?" Namjoon asked, looking around the deserted school, eyes narrowed. I hummed, looking around too, frowning a bit when I saw absolutely no one outside. "Guess we're late again," I muttered, heading inside.
We walked throughout the hallways, finding those empty too. Was school canceled today? Shouting filled my ears, my head snapping over to the cafeteria, eyes narrowing on the door. "Something's wrong," I said, practically running over to the door.
I pulled it open, chants of the students flooding my ears. "Fight! Fight! Fight!" My eyes scanned the room, landing on the male from yesterday, who I believe was named Hoseok, and my mate? I growled lowly, seeing Jungkook on the floor, hands held up as Hoseok towered over him.
"I'm going to kill him," I almost roared, running straight towards the fight, seeing Hoseok's fist clenched and ready to punch my mate. I blocked Jungkook just in time, taking the punch to my jaw, the room growing deadly silent.
I chuckled lowly, looking Hoseok in the eyes, a smirk forming on my face. "Is that all you got?" I spat, a bruise beginning to form on my jaw, another laugh leaving my lips. "Pretty fucking weak for a guy looking to fight."
"The fuck did you just say to me?" He spat, clenching his fist again, knuckles turning white. "You heard me loud and clear," I snickered, clenching my hand into a fist, not even giving him time to register my attack.
I punched him.
Hard.
He stumbled back, groaning in pain, clutching his gut while I stood in front of Jungkook, my friends joining me. "Keep your hands off Jungkook, or so help me, I'll do more than just that little punch," I commanded, tilting my head to the side and looking Hoseok in the eyes.
"Are we clear, Hoseok?" He sent a glare my way, gritting his teeth in pain. "Whatever." I laughed, rushing over to him and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him close to me. "I said are we clear, bitch?" His eyes widened, lips parting open in shock.
"Yes, we're clear." I slammed him into the ground, turning around and looking at my mate, seeing his eyes wide and bruises beginning to form on his body. I stifled a growl, bending down and hooking my arm under his knees, lifting him up from the ground.
I carried him bridal style towards the nurse's office, feeling the sparks through his clothes again. "V..." He let out weakly, my eyes staring straight ahead, refusing to meet his. "Don't talk, Jungkook," I stated softly, the tone surprising me.
Jimin and Namjoon followed me, opening the door to the nurse's office and holding it open for Jungkook and I. I walked in, setting Jungkook down on a chair, grabbing a first aid kit and popping it open. My friends blocked the door, my eyes focused on the contents in the medkit.
I grabbed some bandages and hydrogen peroxide, aiming to clean and bandage the cuts and bruises that coated my mate's skin. With a sigh, I held onto his arm, rubbing some hydrogen peroxide over the cut. He winced, closing his eyes tightly. "Shh, it'll go away," I whispered, letting the sparks run through his body.
When he was bandaged up, I disposed of the trash from the bandages and put the first aid kit away, standing up and pulling him to his feet. I nodded at both Namjoon and Jimin, seeing them leave the room, shutting the door behind them.
"Are you okay?" I asked softly, looking at Jungkook, his eyes big. "Thank you," He whispered, tears seeming to form in his eyes. "Thank you so much. I don't know what would have happened if you didn't save me." I pulled him to his feet, pulling his body against mine.
I wrapped my arms around his smaller frame, holding him against me. "Shh, don't thank me. Are you okay? Nothing hurts too badly?" He sighed, hugging me back, wrapping his arms around me. "I'm okay. Just bruises."
I nodded, pulling away from Jungkook, glancing at the clock on the wall. "Let's get you to class, okay?" He nodded, holding onto my arm for longer than I expected, the sparks felt where our skin touched. "Please tell me about these sparks.."
"Not now, okay? Just- I can't." He frowned but nodded, the two of us exiting the nurse's office. Jimin and Namjoon walked beside Jungkook and I, the four of us heading to Jungkook's first class. "You have physics? How didn't I see you yesterday?"
He laughed a bit, shaking his head. "I didn't go to first period. I was running late." I nodded, pushing the door open, letting Jungkook walk in first. We took our seats, Jungkook sitting right beside me, pushing the desk next to mine.
"So, you're a junior?" I asked after a while of silence, seeing him nod slowly. "Yeah. I'm behind all my friends. They're seniors." I rolled my eyes, glancing around the room. "Some friends. I'm a Junior too, and so is Park," I stated, pointing to Jimin.
"Which reminds me, you two haven't properly met Jungkook." I cleared my throat, flashing a small smile. "Park, this is Jungkook. Jungkook, meet Park, my best friend. RM, this is Jungkook, and Jungkook, this is RM, my cousin." He smiled at them, waving while they waved back.
"Sup," They greeted, sitting back in their seats, listening to the bell ring loudly throughout the room. I caught Jungkook staring at me, my eyes meeting his for a split second. He looked away, cheeks turning a light pink color. I smiled a bit, throwing my arm over his shoulder.
"Oh, you're so falling for him," Jimin teased, smirking while he stared at the board ahead of us, a growl forming in my throat. "Shut it, loser." He laughed into the mind-link, staring at his desk while I glanced at Jungkook again.
Class began and ended faster than I expected, my eyes seeming to be focused on Jungkook throughout the whole class period. He took notes and worked out the problems fairly easily, almost with ease. So, he's smart, huh? I walked with Jungkook to our English class, taking our seats again.
"Any classes with that asshole of a friend?" I asked, twirling his pencil in my hand, smirking slightly. "Two. Speaking of him, how did you know his name?" I snickered, glancing at my mate. "I know a lot of things."
Jungkook laughed, quieting down once the teacher entered the class. "Good morning. Today we'll be talking about argument. We'll be discussing what it is, what claims are, how to find them, and evidence." Jungkook began to take notes, his hand working skillfully to write down everything the teacher said.
When class was over, I joined Jungkook in his next two classes before lunch, sitting beside him the whole time. When lunch rolled around, the four of us walked to the cafeteria, taking our seats while students began to pile in.
I followed my mate to the lunch line that was beginning to form, taking a deep breath, and inhaling his scent. God, he smelled so fucking good. "You're not going to eat?" I snapped out of my thoughts, looking at my mate. "Nah, I don't have money."
He frowned, pulling out a ten-dollar bill and handing it to me. "Here." I shook my head, hands raised up a bit. "No, really Jungkook, it's okay." He smiled, grabbing my hand and putting the ten dollars in my palm. "It's not much, but still, think of it as a thank you for this morning."
I stared at the ten dollars, frowning a bit. Then I looked at my friends. You're an alpha, Taehyung, your pack before yourself. "How much can I buy with this?" Jungkook hummed, putting food on his plate. "Two trays, probably."
I grabbed two trays, putting food on them, and finally making it to the register. I paid with the ten dollars, walking with Jungkook to a table not too far from his other friends. We sat down with Jimin and Namjoon, my smile returning.
"Eat up, losers." I smiled, pushing the trays towards them, seeing their eyes light up. "Thank you, al- V." I narrowed my eyes but smiled, finding Jungkook staring at me again. "You're not eating?" I shook my head, hair falling forward.
"Friends before me. I'll be fine." He frowned, pushing the tray between us, taking a spoonful of food then handing a fork to me. "Eat." I laughed, shaking my head again. "It's fine, Jungkook. I'm not hungry."
Truth was, I was starving. I didn't eat yesterday nor had I had food today, but my friends came before me. I let them eat, resting my chin upon my palm, hearing laughter from the table over. My eyes landed on Hoseok, plus two others. Jin and Yoongi, maybe?
Yes, I listened to Jungkook's talk yesterday. After all, my wolf was in control.
My friends continued to eat, my ears picking up the conversation not too far from us. "Fucking loser, dude. The kid won't do anything! Won't get drunk or anything! He's too fucking scared!" They laughed, my eyes narrowing.
"Did you really fight him?" A guy asked, snickering a little bit. "Fuck yeah! Should've seen him! Weak ass bitch that cowered after one weak punch." My wolf growled, threatening to take over. "Easy fight." I stood up, walking towards them.
"If you're going to tell a story, at least tell it correctly," I barked out, arms crossed over my chest while I glared at the three. "Stop bragging when that wasn't even how things went. Hoseok here got his ass handed to him." He glared at me, fists clenching.
"By who? Hoseok doesn't lose." This smaller male asked as an icy glare was sent my way. I smirked, tilting my head to the side a bit. "You're talking to him. Almost sent him flying with a small punch." I laughed, glaring at Hoseok. "Don't try to make yourself sound tough. You were done with one punch."
"And some friends you are. Talking behind his back? Please. What are you, five? So fucking immature." I laughed louder, smirking wider. "No wonder he stopped hanging out with you losers. Waste of damn time if you ask me."
"V! Dude! Come on, bro! We gotta go soon!" I snickered, nodding at my friends, looking back at the trio. "Take it back!" Hoseok roared, pushing himself up from the table. "Sit down," I commanded, his eyes wide.
"I'm not taking back the truth. My words are true, and you three are nothing but pathetic. Stay away from Jungkook if you don't want trouble." I turned around, walking back towards the table, sitting beside Jungkook. "Why did you talk to them?"
"Heard em talking about you," I stated, stealing a fry from Jimin, humming at the taste. "You heard them? How? They're not even close by." I flashed a small smile. "Don't worry about it. Your friends won't be bothering you anymore, and if they do, they'll be asking for hell."
Five minutes before lunch ended, we began walking back to class, Park and Namjoon splitting up from Jungkook and I. I accompanied Jungkook at his class, sitting beside him while we waited for the bell to ring.
"Why are you being nice to me?" I glanced at Jungkook, sighing a bit. "Guess you could say I felt bad, for you know, pushing you away so quickly. I have a reason." He nodded a bit, arm brushing up against my own. "Well, you seem like a nice person, from what I've seen today. I'm always here to be friends."
I nodded, smiling, looking my mate in the eyes. Maybe Jimin and Namjoon were right. Maybe having a mate wouldn't be such a bad thing. We deserve it, right? After running and fighting for our lives for years on end, we deserve some happiness and love, right?
"You said you wanted to get to know me, right?" I asked, seeing his eyes widen, a nod sent my way along with a fond smile. I smiled too, replying. Maybe having a mate wouldn't be such a bad thing.
"Then, what are you waiting for?"
