ELEVEN

The very thing that holds you down, will lift you up

When they reached HQ, the aircraft had dropped into a stony silence.

"I love this building, it's so dramatic." Louise commented, hopping out of the aircraft.

"Yes, that was the look we were going for." Stark said sarcastically.

"Oh stop sulking!" Louise sighed with a roll of her of her eyes, patting Stark on the shoulder. The others laughed at her antics.

"Please say we're keeping this one?" Clint asked hopefully, he and Louise were firm friends, despite meeting less than a day ago, they just got on well.

"We're keeping both of them." Stark answered, walking towards the building, the group following behind him.

"Yay!" Louise squealed dramatically, hugging Peter. "Peter they like us!"

"yay!" Peter laughed at her, she grinned back at him.

"Focus you two, we have a bigger problem." Stark told them as they reached the door to the building.

"Bigger than your ego?" Louise asked, Peter snorted.

"Bigger than his ego." A man they had never seen before confirmed.

"We're screwed." Louise stared at the man with wide eyes. Peter and Clint laughed loudly.

"Don't encourage her Rhodey." Stark rolled his eyes.

"She doesn't need encouraging, she does it on her own." Clint addrd with a shrug.

"Whatever they throw at us we'll handle." Peter told her, she nodded, but didn't look that convinced.

"We can try." She agreed with a nod of her head.

They reached one of the labs, where Stark's information on their problem was gathered. Stark's friend, Rhodey, who was almost healed from his injuries and ready to fight, looked on in interest.

"Now we're all back, we can focus on the bigger problem." Stark brought up a video of a huge robot-type thing destroying part of a city.

"That sure is bigger than your ego." Louise mumbled. Clint laughed.

"you're right." He agreed.

"What exactly is that?" Peter asked with a frown.

"That is only part of what we need to stop." Stark answered.

"So what else do we need to do?" Louise asked.

"you remember the man who kidnapped Peter?" Stark asked her, she nodded.

"Mike?" She asked, he nodded his confirmation.

"His 'guards' are exactly like that giant robot, just less sophisticated versions. He's behind all the destruction."

"So what did he want from us?" Peter asked, Rhodey and Clint suddenly looked interested, it was clear Stark hadn't told them either, and they wanted to know if he knew.

"We don't know." Clint finally answered, he seemed to grasp the situation quickly, Louise looked at him in surprise. Stark nodded.

"To bring him down, we need all the help we can get. We need Banner. Louise I know you know where he is." Stark told her.

"Of course I know where he is, that doesn't mean I am going to tell you." She answered.

"Why not?" Rhodey asked curiously.

"He trusted me, I made a promise I intend to keep." Louise answered with a shrug.

"Just tell us! Please." Stark sounded almost vulnerable, Louise shook her head stubbornly, Peter put his arms around her.

"Look, he doesn't want to be found, so leave him be. You're supposed to be his friends; why don't you care about his feelings?" Louise lectured with a sigh.

"She's right." Clint said.

"We need to make a plan, instead of discussing something that we shouldn't be talking about." Peter spoke up.

"He's right." Louise nodded.

"Does anyone know anything?" Rhodey asked with a sigh.

"I found this." Peter suggested, holding up a USB pen, he passed it to Stark, who examined it and then plugged it into a computer. A blueprint flashed up on screen.

"Nice." Louise said with a smile at Peter.

"Good find." Clint added.

"Right, I will look over these, the rest of you go relax. Kids, i reccomend you go to your rooms." Stark said.

"Peter and Louise exchanged a look and did so, remembering the rooms they had used last time.

"I have cards against humanity and pretzels." Louise offered with a grin, as they got near to their rooms.

"Let's go." Peter grinned and followed her into her room, she laughed.

The room was bigger than she had first thought. A huge glass panel took up most of the far wall, it had a small door in one corner, so she could get out onto the balcony, which was camouflaged as though it wasn't there, of which she blamed on Stark's insecurities. A huge double bed stood in the centre of the room, and she had an ensuite and a huge wardrobe, which she would have liked, but she ripped her clothes so often she had stopped caring. A table of snacks stood beside a full-length mirror. Her room had had a makeover.

"I like it." Louise nodded.

"It's cool." Peter nodded. They sat on the bed and Louise shuffled and dealt the cards.

They had been playing the game for over an hour, having to stop now and again because they were laughing so hard. Nearly all the pretzels were gone and Peter was winning. Louise pouted at his win, especially as he began to do a strange sort of dance.

"I wish I'd filmed that." She said with a laugh. He shook his head at her.

"How rude of you." He pulled a face at her. She retaliated.

"You can't beat me." He told her with a laugh.

"Wanna bet, race ya to the front door and back." She challenged. He grinned.

"You're on." And they ran out of the room together.
