ONE

She was not fragile like a flower,
She was fragile like a bomb

He watched the CCTV footage with an expression nothing short of fear. Tony Stark was scared. He couldn't take another threat, and if the strange, powerful girl in the footage was forest into evil, there would be trouble. The worst part was he knew exactly who she was. Stark had barely anything. With most of the Avengers gone, and only a young boy who he didn't want to get hurt, and himself who could both fight, he had no options. He was too proud to even think about helping Steve, to get the team back together, so he wanted to put forward a new team. A new Avengers to rise out of the dust and rubble that was the old team, because Tony Stark could not admit he was wrong, he could not admit that he should have dealt with things differently.

He knew where to find the girl, who could be an asset or a threat, but he knew he could not do it without help, and he would still have to travel to Pittsburgh to find her. It was a mess. The Tony Stark, was scared, he was scared of a teenage girl, who didn't seem to know how to use her own powers. Looking at her appearance closer, Stark noticed something, he recognised her, only from a photo he had seen once, but this solidified his idea that she could help him.

He needed to call Peter.

Pain, a horrible sensation, but that is what you get for fighting crime. Sitting upright, the blonde girl winced at the bruises on her ribs. She was lucky not to have broken something. Getting out of bed slowly, she stood by the window and inspected the street below, it wasn't busy, which she was thankful For, and through the slightly open window, she felt the harsh morning breeze making its presence known by stinging her with its icy fingers.

She liked where she lived, but she hated how much crime there was, she had hoped it would lessen somewhat, after she started helping the foght against crime, but no. She had been wrong.

She turned away and grabbed her hair brush, forcing it through the tangled mess she called her hair, in an attempt to make herself look at least a little more presentable.

It was a Saturday, which meant painful hours of doing nothing in her father's dingy coffee shop. Fun.

After making herself presentable, and ignoring the ache of her joints, she left the slight warmth of her home, into the biting wind of the streets.

The coffee shop, if you could even call it that, no one ever went in, not that she blamed the, was a block away from her home.

She opened the shop and served the one regular, an elderly man who went by the name of Clive. He always had the same. A latte with three sugars.

It was halfway through the day, when she realised that the filter was getting full of fluff and other nasty things that she really didn't want to know what.

She couldn't get it out, mainly because she had no idea how, but also she couldn't be bothered. It had been a bad week.

She used her curse. She used the strange power she possessed to do a simple task. Moving things with her mind, telekinesis, whatever it was, she used it way too often. But on the bright side, she had cleared the filter.

"That was impressive." She heard a voice from over the counter and screamed, grabbing a knife and standing up, only to see Tony Stark stood in front of her. She shrieked.

"Can I- can I... Um coffee?" She asked after finally composing herself.

"Flat white, quickly." He told her. She just nodded and began to make up his coffee.

"Neat trick you had there." He told her. She froze.

" You saw nothing. Okay." She told him, before robotically making the coffee and passing it to him. "Three ninety-nine."

"I saw that, and I was thinking we could talk." He told her. She took the money from him and put it in the register with a shake of her head.

"You saw nothing." She told him, again.

" You know who I am, right?" He sighed at her. She sighed and nodded.

"Iron man." He nodded at her answer.

"And you know my team?" He asked, she nodded once more.

"The Avengers." She told him.

" We need you, someone with your skill, you could be a great member of the team." He told Her, taking a sip of his coffee. She shook her head.

"Mr Stark the Avengers are dead, you do realise that, right?" She told him.

"I'm reforming it. And you're too powerful to be left alone." He told her. She sighed.

"With all due respect Mr Stark, please leave." Louise told him, the door swung open.

" This isn't over." Stark warned, before leaving the shop. She stared after him in confusion.

" What on earth?" She questioned aloud, before sighing and wiping down the counter. What did he want?

Walking home from the coffee shop, Louise would have stopped off to get a cupcake, but she saw a red and blue figure swinging towards her. She took a sharp left and climbed onto a rooftop, trying to get away from her pursuer. She almost felt safe, until a web shot passed her head. She fell backwards in fright, landing on her back. She groaned in pain, why her?

" What the hell?" She asked aloud, screaming as a tall figure in a tight-fitting outfit, landed in front of her. She knew who it was, she'd seen it on the news. Spider-Man they called him.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." He crouched down in front of her and pulled off his mask, revealing a pretty boy around the same age as her.

" What the hell?" She asked, barely able to comprehend what was going on. She did not understand.

" I'm Peter." He held out his hand to her. She took it, allowing him to pull her into a sitting position.

"Hi." She said in confusion, trying to figure out his motive.

" Is it true? Can you really move things with your mind?" He asked. She sighed.

"Stark sent you." She said in disappointment, she had almost thought he was genuine.

"Yeah...." Peter trailed off awkwardly.

"Its true, by the way. I can." She told him.

"Really?" He asked, eyes wide.

"Yeah." She nodded, before raising a hand and a rock floated into the air, falling at his feet.

"Wow." He seemed so impressed, so mystified by the thing she hatred most about her. By her curse.

"Why are you here?" She asked him with a frown, worried of what he was about to say.

"You should come with me." He told her brightly, offering her his hand as a somewhat good imitation of an olive branch. She stated at him, wide eyes and shook her head.

"Sorry." She raised her hand and used her curse to push him off the building, he flew backwards and fell at once. With regret in her heart, she didn't look to see if he was alive, she just turned and ran.

There was no way she would be forced to fight someone else's battle.
