Ch. 6

Remus rose up in Roman's room, feeling nauseous but he ignored it as he crouched over Roman and lightly slapped his cheeks. Roman groaned slightly.

"Hey, Ro, there he is!" Remus put on a weak smile. "We have a problem."

"...problem?" Roman slurred, still drowsy. He rubbed his eyes, and for a moment Remus was reminded of when they were kids. "What happened?" He asked, tilting his head. He sat up.

"I didn't account for Deceit noticing I was gone. I just saw him a moment ago, he was a mess. Not to be selfish, but I'm assuming I'm the cause." Remus muttered, focusing on trying to make his voice as serious as possible. Which was hard, considering it was Remus.

"What are you going to do?" Roman asked.

"The quick solution is you telling me who to beat up and I go do it." Remus said blankly. Roman looked away, and Remus sighed. "Or you could change into me. Which wouldn't work, because you could never attempt to mimic the sexiness that is my personality."

"I'm highly uncomfortable with the fact that you look like me while you say that." Roman furrowed his brow.

"So, we might have to--"

Suddenly, Roman sharply inhaled through his teeth, his entire form flickering slightly.

Roman lurched foward, and Remus put his hands on Roman's shoulders to stabilize him. "Roman?! Are you okay?" Remus asked. Roman nodded weakly, his face pulled into a pained expression.

"Ducking out isn't as fun as Virgil made it seem." Roman winced. Remus furrowed his brow.

"We can't keep doing this. It's hurting you, Ro." Remus told him sternly.

"No!" Roman shook his head. "It can't all be for nothing!"

"Then just tell me who's making you so upset!" Remus begged.

"No." Roman mumbled, looking away.

"Why not?!" Remus exclaimed. "You've been emotionally unstable for far too long! Just tell me and I can make it stop!"

"I can't!" Roman screamed, looking back at Remus. "I physically can't! Whenever I try to it just won't come out."

Remus resisted the urge to say several inappropriate thoughts that he had when Roman said that.

"I guess in the long run, a prince cannot betray those he holds dear." Roman gave Remus a weak smile.

A knock was heard at the door. "Roman? Can we talk?" A voice called out. Remus sighed, it was Deceit. Roman stood up and hid in the closet.

Remus walked to the door and swung it open. "Hello, you snake faced fiend!" Remus exclaimed, hating the words that came out of his mouth. "What sort of untruths have you come to tell me today?"

"Do you know where Remus is?" Deceit asked immediately. "I haven't heard a sound from his room in a few days and I'm certain he's not in there."

"Why would I know where my halfwit of a brother is?" Remus asked. "And how do I know this isn't a trap, and that you're lying?" God, how could Roman say these things with a straight face? It was killing him inside.

Maybe it was because unlike Roman, Remus and Deceit were actually friends.

"Please, Roman," Deceit pleaded. "I just want him back home, safe. Surely you understand?"

"I don't know where he is." Remus said, Deceit's eyes widened.

"You're lying." Deceit mumbled. Remus cursed himself for somehow forgetting that Deceit, the physical representation of LIES, could sense his untruths.

"I'm not." Remus lied. "I don't know where he is."

"Tell me where he is, Roman." Deceit ordered, determination in his eyes.

"I don't know!"

"Liar!" Deceit screamed. "Tell me where he is!"

"I don't know where he is!" Remus snapped. "Leave me alone!" Remus slammed the door in Deceit's face.

Deceit pounded on the door and demanded Remus open it. "Roman! Please! Just let me know where he is! I need the peace of mind!"

Remus glanced at the closest and saw Roman sticking his head out of the closet. "Am I really that mean?" Roman asked quietly, though Remus couldn't hear it over Deceit's yelling.

Deceit kept pounding on the door, his shouts growing louder and louder until---

"Deceit! What the hell are you doing?!" Remus heard Virgil snap.

---

Virgil was headed back to his room, ready to go to bed for the night.

He went up the stairs, into the hallway, and was met with a peculiar sight.

Deceit, banging on Roman's door, shouting wildly at the top if his lungs.

"Deceit! What the hell are you doing?!" Virgil snapped, making Deceit freeze.

Virgil walked foward, placing a hand on Roman's door. "Are you okay, Ro?"

"Y-Yeah!" He could hear on the other side. "I-I'm absolutely exquisite, as per usual!"

Virgil turned to Deceit. "What is your problem, asshole?!" Deceit looked wildly between the door and Virgil.

"He knows something! I know he does!" Deceit cried. Virgil examined him further and found circles under his eyes.

"Dude, when was the last time you slept?" Virgil asked. "I thought the dark circles were my thing?"

Deceit ignored Virgil and tried to turn the doorknob, which was locked. "Open the door!" He begged, looking like he could cry.

"Woah, Deceit, calm down!" Virgil said. "What's going on, anyways? What does Roman 'know'?"

"Where Remus is!" Deceit said. Virgil's brow furrowed.

"What do you mean? What happened to Remus?" He asked cautiously. Deceit turned to Virgil, and for the first time he could see earnestness in Deceit's gaze.

"Remus is missing! He's been gone for three days!"

"Are you sure he's not off playing the villain in one of his fantasies?" Virgil asked.

"He would have gotten another side involved by now and you know it." Deceit hissed.

Virgil frowned as a memory forced itself into his mind.

"Who's this?" Virgil asked Deceit, who was carrying a sleeping child into the dark mind palace.

"Apparently his name is Remus." Deceit sighed. "Patton ditched him, poor kid didn't even get to say goodbye to his brother."

He set Remus down gently on the couch. "But you and I can be his new family now, kid." Deceit ruffled Virgil's hair. Virgil scowled and swatted his hand away.

"So what does he represent?" Virgil asked.

"Creativity was split, I'm guessing we got the 'bad' side of him." Deceit sighed. "He was kicking and screaming, tired himself out."

"He got kicked out?" Virgil asked. Remus looked about his age, the thought that it was despicable to kick out a child. It made Virgil's blood boil. "Those guys are assholes anyways."

"Virgil! Mind your language!"

Remus was...gone?
