Chapter 48
HI MY EDITOR HATES ME AND I MIGHT BE POSTING A NEW BOOK SOON
---------------
The party was loud. Much like any other party the two had been to, and Evan still hated it as much as he had back in Hell.
Almost immediately the stench of alcohol filled Evan's nostrils, and it took everything in him to not hyperventilate. Seeing this, Craig gently took his hand and led him away, keeping an eye out for their friends.
After a few minutes, Craig was able to locate them and led Evan over since he knew it would be alcohol free.
"Hey." He said happily while Evan stayed silent, his usual party mode.
"Oh hey guys, I don't know where Jonathan went off to, but I'm pretty sure he's inside." Marcel said, watching as Evan constantly looked around himself, trying to avoid anyone bumping into him.
"This place sucks." Evan said, narrowly avoiding some black-haired bitch who was waving around a beer can above her head. He began to cough at the scent. "Gross." He commented, mostly to himself.
"Oh, come on, this place is fun! It's certainly a tamer party than back home!" Craig argued as the group moved a bit farther away since they wanted Evan to be comfortable.
"No, I just really don't belong here-Whoa!" Some guy crashed into Evan's side, taking him to the ground and spilling beer on him.
Immediately, Tyler, Craig, Marcel, and pretty much the rest of the group got the guy off of Evan and pushed him away.
"Ev, you good?" Craig asked with concern, making sure his friend wasn't about to have a panic attack.
Evan slowly got up. "Yeah, I'm good. Here, take this, it smells disgusting." He took off his hoodie, revealing a black t-shirt while Craig reached inside his jacket and pulled out a black and white flannel and handed it to him.
"You actually brought that for Evan?" Tyler asked in disbelief.
Craig shrugged. "Yeah of course, its fucking cold out you psycho."
"Fair enough." Tyler said, joining the conversation everyone else was having.
"I-I'm gonna go find Jonathan." Evan said, stuttering from the nervousness he felt just thinking about going into the building.
"I'll come with you, I'm just hang here for a few minutes, talk to Tyler and such, see you in a few?" Craig told him, gesturing to his boyfriend as Evan nodded and began to walk towards the house.
He took a deep breath. "You can do this." He told himself as he entered the house, beginning to look around while he ignored the smell of alcohol and avoided crashing into people, not to mention the smell of what he was sure to be weed.
Besides the people jostling around him, the house was pretty easy to navigate since it had a mostly open floor plan.
---
Craig, doing as he promised, caught up with Tyler for a few minutes before heading inside to find where Evan had gone off to.
---
Evan had circled the house about three times before he caught what he believed to be a glimpse of his boyfriend.
But a glimpse was all he needed as he spotted two blue beer cans in his hands, no doubt for him and a friend, and Evan could just feel himself stop in the crowd. A few people bumped into him, but he wasn't honestly sure he cared at that particular moment.
Anger surged through him, Jonathan had broken his promise to stay sober, and that was all Evan needed in order to leave without a single word to anyone.
Pulling out his phone, he sent a quick text to Craig before rushing out the front door, going down the sidewalk in the opposite direction from their house just in case.
----
Tyler was stood outside, not caring about the fact that Craig and Evan had gone to find Jonathan until he remembered that when they had first arrived he had told Tyler he just wanted to say hi to Luke. And that was the only time he had seen him.
"I'm gonna go make sure they're alright." Tyler said, quickly rushing into the house to follow Craig and his brother and make sure they didn't see anything they shouldn't.
But he was too late.
----
Craig didn't know who Jonathan was kissing, because it wasn't Evan, and he was absolutely pissed. He pulled out his phone, snapped a quick photo, and opened the message from Evan saying he was leaving.
Just then Tyler came up out of nowhere and tried to move him away from Jonathan and his makeout partner.
"Hey, have you found Evan? I think I saw him earlier, come on let's-" Tyler grabbed on his arm and tried to turn him around.
"Tyler, stop. I know what you're trying to hide, and it's not working. I'm telling Evan right now, and if you even think about getting in my way, I will break your face." Craig growled, causing Tyler to let go and run over to Jonathan while he stormed out.
----
Tyler pushed the two apart, not caring at the moment, he was too mad and stressed.
"Hey, fucker, you've been exposed. Craig saw you and is going to tell Evan right no- Have you been drinking? Now you're just begging for a beating, honestly, dude." Tyler said, serious and quick.
Jonathan's eyes widened, the moment had finally come, the moment he had been dreading ever since he had first kissed Luke.
Evan was about to find out, and he didn't think he was ready for that.
----
"Evan!" Craig shouted, seeing Evan a fair distance in front of him. "Evan! I need to tell you something!" He yelled louder, this time catching his attention.
He caught up to him in a few seconds, panting for breath for a few more.
"What is it? If this is about Jonathan drinking beer, I already know, that's why I left." Evan said nonchalantly, crushing Craig just a bit.
He has no idea. He thought to himself with pity.
Craig placed a hand on Evan's shoulder. "No, Ev, its...it's not that. It's worse, way worse. Jonathan, well, I saw him kissing some guy. And I have a picture to prove it, although I doubt you'd want to see it." He spoke quickly, yet he knew Evan understood him as he watched his face fall.
"You're lying, he wouldn't, he loves me!" Evan was in denial, but Craig just shook his head.
Finally, Evan had calmed down after his small freakout and said "Show me." His voice was quiet and shaky, but he meant it. The only way he would believe it is if he saw it for himself.
Craig pulled up the picture, showing it to Evan and turning away to avoid his reaction. He didn't want to see the tears that formed in the corners of his eyes, or the small quiver that attached to his lips the longer he stared at the photo.
Bottom line, he didn't want to watch as his best friend's heart broke in front of his eyes.
"I'm sorry." Was all Craig could say as he took away the picture and pulled Evan in for a hug, which he didn't even tense up like usual at. It was so regular, it was almost scary to Craig.
"Why would he do that?" Evan asked against his chest, crying evident in his broken voice.
"I don't know, Evan, but I will gladly fuck him up if you want me to." Craig said, trying to get his friend to crack so much as a smile.
He gave a small chuckle. "No, you know we can't do that, even if that backstabbing son of a bitch deserves it." Evan was back to crying against his chest, but he didn't mind, because it was Evan, and Craig knew he needed this.
----
"I'm too late." Jonathan said as he spotted Craig wrapping Evan into a hug. "He knows, it's all over, Tyler."
"Great, so now I can tell you just how much of a jackass you are. In fact- Hey Craig! This fuck wants to talk to you." Tyler grabbed the back of Jonathan's collar as he tried to run, pulling him back and saying. "You deserve this."
----
Craig let go of Evan and turned, seeing Jonathan himself. Not wanting to leave Evan alone, he gripped his hand, whispered 'stay behind me' and made his way to the jackass.
Naturally, Craig slapped him, hard. "What the fuck is wrong with you, huh? Well, you messed with the wrong people, Dennis." Craig growled, anger clear in his voice as he gave Jonathan a cold stare.
"C-can I talk to Evan?" Jonathan had never been on the receiving end of Craig's anger, and it was like a huge slap in the face. He had never really thought of the consequences before.
"Craig, I want to go home." Evan's voice sounded muffled, and Craig turned to see that he was covering his nose and mouth because of the scent of alcohol Jonathan was carrying around. There wasn't a choice.
"No, I think you've done enough." Craig growled at Jonathan as he went over to Evan, took his hand, and began to once again walk him home.
Jonathan thought fast, he didn't want to be the only one he was mad at. Then he shouted towards the pair.
"Tyler knew about it the whole fucking time!" Craig's reaction was immediate as he stopped, turning around to shoot Tyler a death glare.
"You, you knew about this, Tyler? And you didn't tell me? What the hell? You know how much Evan means to me and you do this shit? No wonder you two are friends, you act just the same."
"Craig, it's not like that-"
"Then how is it, Tyler? Did he trick you, blackmail you, bribe you? Bottom line, you knew and you kept quiet, and if you-"
"Mini...." Craig stopped as soon as he heard Evan use the nickname Chilled used. "I want to go home."
Evan was tired, tired of standing there and watching Craig lose his shit, tired of seeing Jonathan look for a way to get to him, but most of all, he was tired of Earth. He would take Hell over this exact moment anytime. All he wanted was to just go home.
"Yeah, yeah of course, Ev. I'll take you home." Craig said, turning around and walking back to his friend. Right as they began to walk again, Craig glared at the two from over his shoulder and shouted. "Don't think this is over!"
