Chapter Three
Ward woke up to another room. This time it was grey and cold. There was a bed and a table with two chairs. There was a door that led to a bathroom. Ward got up and looked around. Then a door opened and Skye walked in, closing the door behind her. She stared at him.
"Ready to do this again?" She asked and folded her hands.
Ward looked at her. "Where are we?"
"In a training facility," Skye answered. "The location is classified."
Then two guards stepped in with guns and stood by the door.
"As you can see there are always going to be people watching you. So if you try anything stupid, they can kill you instantly," Skye explained.
Ward sighed. "Aw. I was kind of hoping that I could get some alone time with you."
Skye glared at him.
"So," Ward said and started to walk around her, circling her. "You'll be my coach? Like my trainer? Sort of like my S.O?"
"Ward," Skye warned. "Watch it."
"I'm just saying," Ward said and put his hands up. "It's sort of the same thing."
Then all of a sudden Ward's hands started to turn red, like they were glowing.
"It's coming," Skye warned, bracing herself.
Ward looked down at his hands. All of a sudden, fire started to light up in his palms. He looked at Skye, amazed.
"Are you seeing this?!" He asked as a grin spread across his face. "My hands are on fire!"
Skye nodded. She couldn't help but feel at least a little happy because a fellow Inhuman was finding his gift. Plus, Ward was really cute when he got excited. But she tried to hide her happiness. "Be careful! The last time this happened you went under a spell and tried to kill everyone!"
Ward moved his hands around as the fire grew bigger. Skye folded her arms and watched him.
"What should I do know?" He asked and looked at Skye for guidance.
"I don't know," Skye replied. "Try setting the floor on fire. This place is bombproof. But don't do too much!"
Ward aimed at the floor and shot fire everywhere. He spinned around, making a circle of fire. Skye gasped. Wow. He's more powerful than I expected.
"Now turn it off!" Skye yelled.
"How?!" Ward asked.
"Figure it out!" Skye ordered. "Feel your power!"
Ward closed his eyes and tried to only think of his power. But he could only think of Skye. The fire grew bigger.
"Ward!" Skye scolded.
The guards by the door got tense.
Ward finally got his mind on his power and thought about turning it off. He twisted his hands as the fire slowly disappeared. Skye sighed and fell into a chair, relieved. Ward looked at her in shock.
"Did you just see that?!" He asked.
Skye couldn't help but chuckle. "Yes. I did."
Ward sat down in a chair across from her.
"Imagine what I can do once I'm finished training!" Then he paused. "What are you training me for anyway? Am I gonna work for Shield again? Because nobody wants me there. They probably took my wallet and are trying to figure out where my Hydra base is."
"Actually," Skye said. "That's exactly what they're doing."
Ward didn't seem to care. All he cared about at the moment, was his powers and what he was gonna use them for. "Will I be like on a team?! What am I gonna be used for?!"
Skye got up and went to the door. "That's classified." Then she left with the guards.
Ward watched her leave longingly.
"So," Skye said as she walked into Coulson's office. She leaned on Coulson's desk. "How's the research going on Ward?"
"It's fine," Coulson answered. "Simmons examined his wallet and all his other belongings that we found. We are still trying to trace them back to his Hydra base. It would be a lot easier and quicker if we had you on the job, since you're so good at tracing stuff back. But I know you've got your plate full with training Ward and everything."
"Oh no I'd love to do it," Skye exclaimed. "The sooner we can find the base the sooner we can put an end to Hydra."
"And once you get Ward's powers under control, I want you to interrogate him," Coulson ordered. "See if he'll tell you anything."
Skye nodded. "Yes sir." Then she turned to leave.
Ward watched the fire ball as it hovered right above his palm. He was sweating and staring at the ball, concentrated. Skye watched him intensely. He's really getting it. He'd be a great asset to my team. Hah. Like I have an Inhuman team.
"Okay, now end it," Skye ordered.
Ward squeezed his fist tightly, making the fire ball disappear.
"Let's take a break," she said.
"Let's take a break?!" Ward exclaimed and looked at her. "Skye! That was awesome! Are you ever gonna compliment me?!" He asked playfully with a smile.
Skye sighed and sat down in a chair at the table. "Not now Ward."
Ward sighed and sat down across from her and took a sip of his water bottle.
Skye sighed exasperatedly and straightened some papers in front of her. "I'm gonna ask you a few questions."
"You?" Ward asked and looked at her. "Interrogating me?" He scoffed. "It'll be just like old times."
Skye glared at him. "Okay. I'm just gonna straight out ask you. Where is your Hydra base?!"
Ward sighed. "Your team can't locate it can they?"
"Oh they almost found it!" Skye exclaimed. "They just wanted me to ask you to save them the trouble of doing extra work."
"You know," Ward started. "Nobody really knows where it is."
"Ward," Skye scolded. "I'm serious."
"I'm serious too Skye," Ward went on. "I have a deal for you. If you tell me what you're gonna use my powers for, I'll tell you where the Hydra base is."
Skye sighed and folded her arms. She leaned back in her chair. "No deal. Just tell me where the base is and I will continue to help you with your powers."
"Tell me what your plans are and I'll keep letting you help me with my powers," Ward replied with a grin.
"Stop twisting things around!" Skye yelled.
"But that's what I'm best at," Ward told her, his smug grin getting bigger.
Skye slammed her fist on the table, sending out seismic waves towards Ward, making him fly back in his chair, and making the chair fall over.
"Hey!" He exclaimed and got back up, picking his chair up as well. "I thought we were working on controlling our powers!"
Skye looked at him ridiculously. She couldn't help but laugh inside. She tried to hide her smile, but a little showed through. Ward looked at her and started laughing out loud, realizing that she was laughing inside.
Skye sighed and got up with her papers. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Ward gasped inside. Did she actually sort of just say good bye to me?! "Okay bye," he replied casually while screaming to himself.
