I started to walk down the streets to my apartment, after a couple moments of silence I heard a car horn behind me. I quickly turned around and saw the familiar face that I had just seen moments before. The car drove up next to me and the passenger side window rolled down.
"Need a ride?" He called out. I just shook my head not trying to say anything "get in, I'll bring you home it's too cold to walk." I thought about it, riding in a warm car with someone that I had just met today. "You're not going to kidnap me right?" I asked him.
He laughs and shakes his head, the car stops and I walk over and get in. The heated car is very welcoming as I shut the car door. I have James the address to my apartment, the drive to my place was filled with the quiet sound of the heated blowing out warm air and the soft sound of music playing.
I tried to keep myself calm and my thoughts positive, I was beyond scared and stupid. I couldn't believe that I had gotten into a strangers car. I layed my head on the passenger side window and close my eyes, when I opened them we were parked in my apartment driveway.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and placed my hand on the doors handle, I turned my body slightly so I could get out as soon as I opened the door, but I didn't open the door instead I turned my body towards James and opened my mouth and let the words come out.
"Do you want to come in?" I asked him. "At four in the morning?" He asked me. I thought about it for a moment and the. Nodded my head. "Sure." He said while unbuckling his seat belt and shutting off his car. He pulled his keys out of the ignition and placed them in his pocket.
We both got out of the car and went inside. When we got inside my apartment I have him a quick tour and made some tea. I poured the boiling pot of water in the two mugs that were placed on my lithe. Counter. I watched as the hot steam came out of the pot as I poured the water.
After pouring the water I put a tea bag in each mug and walked into my living room and sat down on the couch next to James. I handed him the cup of tea and turned on the tv. I waited for a couple of minutes before I drank the tea.
"I like your place." James said while looking around the room as he sat on the couch. I looked around as well, my place was a little boring but it was home to me, I looked at the boring shade of blue that covered my living room walls.
I didn't choose the color of paint but I wish that I had, I scanned my eyes around the room and looked at the paintings that also covered the room, the paintings brightened up the place a little but not much.
"Thank you." I placed my lips onto the warm cup and took a sip. James and I stared at the tv screen until we finished our tea. I looked at the time and saw that it was already past 4:45. I yawned and James obviously noticed because he set his cup down on my rectangular glass coffee table for in front of the couch and stood up.
"Well I should let you sleep." He said. My mind began to fill with worry, what if he didn't want to come back or what if he never talked to me again after this. "You can spend the night if you want." I said trying to get him to stay only so we could possibly hang out later.
"You don't have to invite me to stay if you don't want to." He said to me. "No, it's fine really, do you want to stay?" I asked him, he nodded his head and I smiled. I got up and took the cups of finished tea into the kitchen and placed them in the sink.
I quickly went to my bedroom and grabbed some blankets and two pillows and placed them on the end of my bed. I went to my old dresser and opened the bottom drawer. The familiar smell of him left the dresser and filled my nose.
I grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt and shut the drawer and stood up. My vision had become blurry and I tried my best to make it look like I hadn't almost started to cry. I grabbed the blankets, pillows and clothes and brought them out into the living room for James.
I placed the stuff on the couch. "Help yourself to anything and if it gets to cold you can wake me up and I will turn up the heat." I played with my hands a little and tried to think of things that he might possibly need, "Thank you." I nodded my head and walked out of the room and into mine.
I turned off the lights in my room and got into my bed, I closed my eyes and tried to count sheep but I couldn't, my mind was alive with thoughts and I couldn't shut it down. I tossed and I turned, I turned onto my side and looked at the alarm clock that was on my bedside table, I looked at the bright red blinking numbers.
"5:50." It read. I groaned and got out of my bed, I walked into the living room as quiet as I could. "What are you doing up?" I heard. I jumped and turned on the kitchen light. I turned to the couch and saw James sitting up and rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"Couldn't sleep." I replied truthfully. I looked down a little embarrassed. "Again?" He asked with what looks to be concern in his eyes. I just nodded. I could hear him moving the blankets and get off the couch, I heard his footsteps coming closer.
He took my hand in his and turned off the light, James and I walked into my room hand in hand. "Lay down and get comfortable." He told me and I did what he said.
He walked over to the other side of me and got under the covers. "Does this make you feel uncomfortable?" He asks me and I just shake my head. James curled up next to me and I felt safe and at home. heat radiated off of his body which made it so much better. I closed my eyes and I could feel my eyes getting heavier and heavier and I soon fell into a deep sleep.
