Chapter 54

Chapter 54

I could already see Luciano gaining back his strength and acting like he always was, strong and powerful. I blocked off any worries and questions in my head. I doubted he'd get sick in anyway, he was the King, one of the Hanson's—they don't get sick.

Luciano's fingers traced across my skin as I rested over his chest, finding peace being close to him. He was the last person I ever wanted to loose. The higher power or whatever couldn't do that to me.

"We were supposed to celebrate," He whispered, sniffing my hair. "You were crowned, Red. Do you know how happy I am for you?" He rolled his hand around mine and grabbed my attention.

I looked up at him, cracking a smile, "Really?"

"Yes. You did something and you won. I'm proud of you," He placed a peck on my cheeks and appreciated me like never.

I blushed hard and turned my eyes away from him while his words rung in my mind. I achieved something, not by stealing it, not by having connections or any of those sorts. The witch throne was mine and the liquid inside the Goblet proved it. I became a Queen rightfully. I wasn't gifted with that position like I was when I came here almost two years ago.

I worked for it.

And I still had too, for as long as I was the Queen of witches.

Valarie knocked on the door and at my permission, she came inside the room with Fiona who ran to us immediately. We had to adjust the scent in the room and make sure Luciano wasn't actually sick before Fiona could met us after a long day of being away.

"We'll take care of her now. Thank you." I said to Valarie while picking up Fiona from the ground as she couldn't reach the bed.

"Of course. Let me know if anything is needed! I'm right here," She gave me a smile before dragging the door shut and leaving.

The night was upon us. It was dark and misty outside with harsh winds spinning around. Everyone else in the house were having dinner while I was with Luciano and Fiona as I didn't have an appetite left after the long ride back.

I rocked Fiona in my arms, "Missed me?"

She nodded.

"Well, the next time we go for such a long drive, I'll be sure to take you so you wouldn't miss us." I promised her.

Lunaris was safe now as it was under me, under my ruling and the witches obeyed their Queen, whoever it was. Taking Fiona wouldn't be a problem anymore, although that was if we went there again.

Luciano spread his hands in the air and said, "Give me my daughter, I'm sick." He made those sad eyes that I couldn't resist.

I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to Fiona who had began putting my hair into her mouth. Yup. This was it. I crouched down and gave her to Luciano so they could spend some time together.

Fiona rolled across the bed before lying beside him. He kept an arm by the end of the bed for safety so she couldn't fall down.

"You should go have dinner. I'll be fine here." He said, flicking his eyes at me. "And I'll look over her too."

"I'm not hungry,"

"I know you aren't but you have to eat something so go. Ben will be leaving with Anna in a few too so you should tell them your goodbyes too."

"Are you sure?" I was still concerned and it wasn't going to wear off till I saw Luciano back on his feet and not sick. He had been on the bed since he woke up as he didn't have the energy to walk around or shift yet.

"Yes, Red, I'll be fine, plus I've her." He turned around to his side and got closer to Fiona. They both were on the bed without a single worry on their face, eyes slowly closing.

"Fine, fine, but don't sleep. I'll be back soon!" I exclaimed, slapping his shoulder and waking him up.

His eyes shot up at me, "I won't. I promised you a night," He winked. "So be back quick."

I reached for the door and went outside. Right before closing it, I glanced into the small crack and once my heart was in peace, I closed it and left, heading downstairs to where everyone was.

"Is Luciano doing fine?" Jacqueline asked.

"Yeah, he's better." I sat down beside her in an empty seat. A wave of guilt swept over me when I looked at the food placed in front of me. I couldn't spend a second without Luciano.

Not a second.

"It's okay. Eat. You look malnourished!" Vincent joked, handing me food.

I let out a small laugh before I began eating with the other's. Once dinner was over and the dishes were cleared out along the food, I went over to Anna and Ben to say my goodbyes. They weren't going anywhere far but just around the town.

"I'll come at morning and check on Luciano. I'm sure he'll be fine by then. Don't worry too much. He's quite strong," Ben grasped me and gave me a tight, gut-crushing hug before pulling away. He sighed and shook his head, still clutching my shoulders. "The time in England was a thrill and it was all because of you."

"What about me?" Anna pouted.

"Babe, you are something else, let's not go there."

She battled her lashes and turned red, "Fine."

Ben turned his face back at me and said, "Goodbye, Red. Take care of yourself and that stupid man. If you need anything ever, I'll be two houses away."

I laughed at the realization that Ben had a house in the same street. How did that even happen? I thought he was going to go far.

"Really?"

"Yeah. You can even look at us from the rooftop but don't, not tonight." He winked at me.

"Ew. I'm not even going to bother!" I punched his arm and moved back before going to Anna and hugging her. "I'll miss sleeping with you."

"Same. Ben is going to be so boring." She whispered in my ears and he heard it.

"Ouch."

"All right! Time to go." I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air before they started doing something right at the entrance of the house.

They waved their hands at me before walking out and getting into their car. The headlights blinded me but I still stood and waved at them till they left.

"Goodbye!"

I felt strangely light after seeing my sister and Ben happy at last. They deserved it and I hoped for them to be happy and cheerful for as long as they lived.
