The Blue House

Caia was infuriated. She was beyond frustrated at her mom, who gave her two weeks notice before she had to leave her whole life behind. She had no way of contacting her friends from Florida, as she was now living in the middle of nowhere. She had dashed up to her room, enraged, and started unpacking, hoping it would take away some of her red-hot anger. She had just started on her third cardboard box of colorfully labeled clothes out of the twenty-three boxes strewn around her new light yellow colored room. She actually quite liked the color. She had just finished unpacking the box when she passed onto something painfully sharp. She swore as she collapsed onto the ground, her pale face scrunched into an expression of pain. She started assessing the damage done to her foot. She could barely get a glance, as she was scared to see. She caught sight of a semi-deep red cut running from the ball of her foot to the tip of her big toe. It had already begun trickling the crimson color of blood, but Caia hadn't noticed. She was too absorbed looking at the sharp object jutting out of the carpet, which happened to be her favorite color: purple. The object was a mirror of sorts. Caia's injury quickly forgotten, she grasped the broken edge of the surface and pulled. Caia was now confused, what she thought was a fragment was now a full- size mirror, and was about her height, 5"5. She stood up and stared at the mirror. What she saw dumbfounded her. She did not see her sapphire blue eyes staring back at her. Her onyx black hair did not catch the light of the sun from the numerous windows of her bedroom. She was just... not there. Caia could not see her own reflection in a mirror.
