Expect the Unexpected
I'm finally able to upload now!!! :D Enjoy!!!

I sat in Issac's room. I needed therapy--I needed to figure all of this out. And sure he'd hate me forever, but there were still unanswered questions that I needed answers to. Like, did he know Master? Was it normal for a Master to be partial to a pupil the way Master was partial to me? Should I give Nathan another chance? And what about Darnellel? Should I marry him? Should I run away?
All of my questions were giving me a headache. I had no one to talk to. Fay and Erica became really good buddies during my recovery, Darnellel said he wouldn't speak to me until I gave him an answer, and Issac was talking to Darnellel right this second. He wouldn't tell me why. I began to feel bad.
Another thing Darnellel and I had in common--unanswered questions. He wanted to know if I'd marry him. Spend the rest of my life with him. Have his kids. Meet his parents when we became Importants. He still needed answers. But when reality hit, I had no clue what the future would hold. Maybe I would, maybe not. I was definately not doing any of that now.
"Hey," Issac said walking in his door.
"Hey," I said.
"You wanted to talk to me?" he sat across from me.
"Yeah," I fiddled with my fingers. "Um... I'm not sure where to begin."
"Well, what made you want to come see me?" he asked.
"I... Okay, you're not an actual therapist, but can we pretend that you are, so we can have the doctor-paitent cofenditilaity thing?" I asked.
"Okay..." Issac raised an eyebrow.
"I met with Nathan today. And then this waiter hit on me, and then my master came in and told him off, basically. It's a really long story, but while I was with Nathan... I considered giving him another chance. I know, there's Darnellel to think about, but... Darnellel wants a fast-going, make babies deal. And Nathan wanted to run away with me, but... I don't know. I feel torn. And I shouldn't. Nathan hurt me and Erica and I couldn't betray Erica like that. Apart of me wants him, though.
"Plus, this whole thing with Master is driving me crazy! He's partial to me. And, while he was telling off the waiter, the waiter asked, 'well, what is she to you?' and then Master looked at me and then said, 'my pupil.' I..." I sighed. "I don't know if I remind him of someone, but it's really starting to freak me out--that he cares about me so much."
"Do you have a picture of him?" Issac asked. "I'm usually a good judge of character."
I nodded and pulled out the picture Master had given all the Regulars when he first met us. I handed it to Issac and Issac's eyes damn near went out of his head. I waited for him to say something. Anything. But he was in...shock? I wasn't sure. When Issac didn't say anything, I grew impatient.
"What is it?" I finally asked.
"Kate..." Issac exhaled. "This.... This isn't your master."
"What?" I asked. "Yes it is."
"No," he looked at me. "This... The man in this picture.... This is our father."
I laughed. "That's funny."
"I'm serious," Issac said. And I could see it in his eyes.
"But... But that doesn't make any sense.... He's trained me, taught spells-- This has to be a mistake."
"It's not. I remember my dad, and this, Kate, is him. He was there when I was born, and when you were born. He left when I was young and you were barely two. It'd probably be better if you talked to him about this. And as for Nathan--"
"Forget that part for now," I said. "I want to know more about him. And where the hell was Mom during all this?!"
"Mom's at home," Issac said.
"Is she a wizard, too?" I asked.
"Yep."
I leaned my head back. "I have to talk to him now, don't I?"
"I would if I were you," Issac nodded giving me my picture back.
"I'll be back," I sighed standing up.
Saving myself a long ass walk, I teleported myself to the mansion. I walked in and Master--Dad, whatever--was sitting in a chair. I cleared my throat and his head snapped up. He stood and walked up to me.
"Katlyn, I didn't know you were coming," he said.
"May I ask you a personal question?" I asked.
He seemed confused, but nodded.
"Do you have a family of your own?" I asked, trying to lock eyes with him, so I could see if he'd lie to me.
"Yes, I do," he finally said.
"Tell me about them," I said.
"I have a wife, a son, and a daughter," he was cautious with his words.
"What are their names?" I asked.
"Why are you so curious about this?" he asked.
I bit my lip. "I... I am still so confused about the whole coffee shop fieasco."
"What does that have to do with family?" he asked.
"Because it's something that a father would do to protect his daughter," I locked eyes with him.
He had no words. The look in his eyes proved that Issac was right. This was my father. He had that look of...sadness? I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was a sincere look. Maybe happiness? Maybe he was happy I found out? I didn't realize it before, but now that I knew he was my father, I saw the resemblence between us. We had the same skin, same eyes... We even acted smiliar at times.
I didn't know if I should cry, laugh, yell.... Should I be happy? Mad? How long did he know? Did he just find out? What was Mom like? How did he find out? Why would he partner me up with Darnellel--or a boy for that matteer? Why didn't he tell me as soon as he found out? Why did he leave Issac and Mom when I was two?
"How'd you find out?" he asked.
"Issac," I whispered.
His eyes went wide. "You met Issac? How--?"
"It's a long story. But you have some explaining to do," I folded my arms.
He sighed. "Take a seat."
I sat and waited for his explination.
"I... When you were born, I thought you'd be wizard like Issac and your mother. But when you turned out to be a sorceress, we went along with procedure. You know, like, enrolling you in this," he gesutred around him, "and telling you that you had to pass levels to meet your family. I left when you were two, because of issues that weren't going to resolve any time soon. I love your mother. Always have, always will. Issac, too. But when you came in here that first day, I had my suspicions. I thought to myself, 'It can't be her.' But as you got older, and I saw your mother in your face, I knew it was you. I just... I didn't know how to tell you. And I didn't know you'd find out so quickly."
I processed that. I broke it down from when he started, to the last bit. Procedure? What did that mean? There's a procedure for sorcerers and sorceresses? And Enrollment? What the hell?! I was enrolled in this place?! This is some school? What issues were going on that he had to leave? Really? Seeing my mom in my face? I looked like her? I was actually happy about that part. What did he mean he didn't know how to tell me? And didn't think I'd find out so quickly? Was I dumb in his eyes?
"I know you must have a lot of questions," he finally said.
"Oh, you have no idea," I looked at him.
"Ask me anything," he shrugged.
I put my face in my hands. "How long have you known?"
"For maybe...two or three years," he said.
"Years," I held onto that.
"I didn't know if you'd understand--"
"Understand what? That I've been curious about my family for my entire life? Understand that I didn't tell anyone at my school what I was, because I was ashamed of not having a family? Understand that I've been living some crazy double life just to get through each day?"
"I deserve that, but, Kate, listen to me. I didn't mean to hurt you," he said.
I scoffed. "I love that line. 'I didn't mean to hurt you.' I love it when they say that in movies too. Well, guess what? I got hurt! And what sucks is that I don't know what else is real anymore! Such a drama queen thing to say, but it makes sense to me now! But there's still so much that makes absolutely no sense at all to me! Like, you partnering me with Darnellel. Care to explain that?"
"I didn't want to," he looked in my eyes. "But seeing how you didn't really talk to anyone here... I wanted you to be more social. I wasn't trying to set you up or anything."
I sighed. "So you thought I was some depresed girl who needed to get laid, or something?"
"No! Absolutely not!" he said. He exhaled. "I just didn't know. I still hardly know anything about you."
"Okay, well, here it is," I said, putting my hands in my lap. "I'm a seventeen-year-old girl who is in the middle of some weird challenge that you gave us. I have been cheated on my now ex-boyfriend. I have saved lives, found out some stuff, met some people, and recently got proposed to. Now, if there's anything else you'd like to know, please ask now."
"Who's the ex?" he asked.
"Oh, the guy I was with at the coffee shop? Yeah, that's him. And, oh, Darnellel is the one who proposed," I smiled. I was having fun, now.
"Darnellel proposed?" he sneered.
"Yeah," I nodded. "And you know what's funny? I haven't given him an answer yet. Because see, I've been through a lot since this started, so it affects my descisions and my way of thinking."
"I... I don't know what to do," he shook his head.
"Oh, I know," I stood. "Be my dad for once. Introduce me to Mom. In fact, get back with Mom. And just so you know, this dude Harvey kidnapped me and Darnellel. Well, he came for me, but Darnellel wanted to tag along for the ride. I was being used as bait because they wanted Issac's abilities."
"Kate, this is all so much, so fast," he said standing up.
"Maybe you should've thought of that, before you decided to train me," I snapped and left.
You know what they say. Expect the unexpected. But my motto: No expectations, no disappointments.
