Chapter 6
Chaos. Destruction. Screaming. Blood. These four words are the best words to describe what was going on.
The black shapes of dragons carrying little metal cans that were on fire covered the sky to make it almost like it was night time, for the little metal cans looked like stars... blazing, lethal stars.
Ginger froze, widened her eyes, tossed her head as in looking in all directions and screamed, "What the blazing Mjotem is GOING ON?" She turned to see Un-named staring in shock at a burning light-brown body with diamond armor. Ginger thought, "The Queen is DEAD! Poor Un-named must be heart-broken..."
Un-named looked up and stared at Ginger as he screamed back, "Oblivion is here! He's back!" He paused, as if he were in thought. He continued, "Take this!" He took a small scroll from a torch holder behind him and threw it at Ginger, "RUN! RUN QUICKLY! ONCE YOU ARE OUT OF THE VILLAGE READ IT! BRING RAVEN AND MARMALADE WITH YOU!"
Ginger had no idea what was happening, but, she knew it was important. She nodded her head quickly and turned behind her to run out of the entrance, only to see the corpse of a snowy-white horse with some golden armor. Ginger thought to herself, "Spera-darnit! Not Snowy, too!" She tried to find Marmalade and Raven in the crowd of fleeing horses. Ginger could make out a black-and-white horse lying on the ground, blood pouring out from it.
Ginger screamed, "Raven! Oh my Spera NO!" She rushed toward the body and started crying a bit. Then, she heard a voice behind her.
"Um, Ginger? Why are you crying over my parents bodies?"
Ginger whipped around to see the actual Raven standing behind her. He was tilting his head in a confusing gesture. She just crouched there, embarrassed. She was wondering what to say. All she could utter out was, "I- I'm sorry for your loss."
Raven looked sternly but Ginger could still see sweat leaking from his head, "Oh, pfff, it's fine. They never cared for me. They cashed me outside, how about that... Not too much time left though. And I heard you screaming to Un-named about the scroll and all and-" He was cut off by the sound of a fire ball barreling toward his head. He ducked quickly and instead the ball of fire hit a screaming horse. Ginger recognized him as Twilight, a soldier in the army. Twilight hit his head on a wall, fell, and didn't get up.
Ginger winced at the singed corpse, "Poor thing. Now, continue what you were saying?"
Raven looked back and said quickly, "I have Marmalade. She is wearing some golden armor from your dad, so, there is a 70 percent change she won't die!" He smiled frantically, trying to make things better.
Ginger narrowed her eyes and shouted, "70 percent? What about the other 30?
Raven looked down quickly and shouted, "Pfff, I know I'm not helping!" He looked back up and locked eyes with Ginger, "She is outside the palace and will be waiting for us. And QUICKLY! Let's get out!"
Ginger nodded and then skipped a heartbeat remembering, "Dad! Dust, where is he?"
Raven kicked Ginger swiftly, "COME ON! He's gonna die anyways! There's no hope left! If you play dead, YOU'LL BE DEAD!"
Ginger stared at Raven in shock of what he just said. Ginger was hesitant and thought, "Well, he is right though, unfortunately." She shook her head hastily, quickly got up and galloped with Raven outside the door. A few minutes later, they found the entrance to outside palace. Just as she was about to burst through the huge doors Ginger heard a hissing sound behind her. She turned around slowly just to see saw a bomb placed behind her. She whispered, "Oh, crud."
With that, the bomb exploded and Ginger and Raven leaped out of the way. They fell onto the grassy ground in front of the palace and abruptly got up.
Ginger turned to see the palace burning like crazy, she screamed, "Dad! D-dad! Oh, no... No, no, no, no! This is all my FAULT!" She fell on the grassy, singed ground and sobbed. She tried to stop herself, but, to no avail, she kept on crying. Her vision was blurred from the ash so all she could see is
Marmalade saw her daughter weeping and lifted herself from the rubble of a wooden log on her back. She bucked it off in another direction and trotted over to Ginger, "It's not your fault."
Ginger gradually opened her eyes and whispered, "I know. I just hear people in books say that all the time and I thought that quote would work out." She started to lift up and as she said it she whispered, sniffing up her tears, "Dust... My dad is dead."
