Paper white snow fell from the silver sky, and harsh wind came in from the north. I looked out my small circular window, but all I saw was the snow covered tree outside. It always snows in our town, but this year I think we broke a record. The only warm clothes I had was a cherry red coat, and a warn out par of black boots. I shook the thought out of my head as a voice called from down stairs.

"Ruby, Dinners ready!" my mother yelled from down stairs.

"Coming!" I yelled back.

I ran down stairs smelling the air to see if I could tell what mom was cooking. Sadly it was a mystery today, that usually means it is going to taste horrible. The living room was lighted by huge glass windows, and dinner was already on the birch wood table. Mom was already eating the mystery food, but my father was no where to be seen.

"Your father is still working," she said while looking at her food.

I said nothing as I sat down and pretended to eat the nasty food. After a long period of silence I stood up.

"I'm going to the Library," I said heading towards the door.

"Get some baked goods for your Grandmother" she reminded me as I was grabbing my coat and boots.

I ran out the door into the snow, and a huge gust of cold winter wind hit my face and made my cheeks rose red. I walked towards town while looking at the trees. The beautiful snow fell down on my eyelashes, and soon I could she the top of some of the highest building. I could hear carolers singing Christmas songs, and the big clock in the middle of town struck 4:00 o'clock.

"What a beautiful day isn't it Ms. Ruby,"a voice said from behind me.

I looked around until I saw a man behind me.

"Very beautiful," I said walking faster towards the library.

The old man was right. It was very beautiful.
