Sapphire's P.O.V

She'd cried buckets of tears, but not enough to bring both of them back. It wouldn't happen...

She'd closed her eye tons of times, but not enough to wake up realizing this was all a nightmare. It was all real, very real...

She'd moved away, but not far enough to escape the realm of never-ending sorrows and dreadful fear. I can't escape, I can never escape....

Everytime each tear suddenly dried, leaving a dry crust, that imitated her soul. Everytime she awoke to the crackly sounds of ice thawing, that-that would be her sanity... Everytime she found herself crawling back to the two gems, crying for help, yelling for the pain to stop. It never did. It never would. Time would relapse like hands on a clock and soon she'd find herself in the same position...over...and over again.

Sapphire stared at Amethyst's gem, a large crack straight down the middle. Corrupted. What would it take to bring her back. Had she been gone far too long, or was this just the beginning? She hadn't reformed and attacked her, so she was guessing she could still be saved.

"You can't save her! She doesn't need to be saved!!!!! Pearl she's choosing to do this alone!!"

"NO SHE CAN'T!!! R-ROSE CAN'T LEAVE ME!!! SHE-SHE'S ALL I'VE EVER KNOWN!!!!!"

Memories of Pearl's pain. She never saw it coming, Rose couldn't tell her...the least we can do is be there to heal her. Be the light to guide her through the darkness...get her over her pain...

"You don't ever care! Rose accepted me...SO WHY CAN'T YOU! JUST BECAUSE SHE'S GONE DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN TREAT ME LIKE THIS!!! Pearl. What would Rose say!?"
Memories of Amethyst's pain. She wasn't treated fairly, she was a gem no one ever knew, the one that had the shortest story, no one payed any attention to. We never treated her as part of the team...Rose did. The least we can do is pay our respects and mention the better life we should have given her...

"I NEVER EVEN GOT TO KNOW MY MOM! AND YOU ALL EXPECT ME TO BE LIKE HER! W-WELL...I'm trying....how am I supposed to be like...s-someone I don't even know....?"

Memories of Steven's pain. We don't know his pain. Being his mother...while struggling to be himself. All at the same time. We can never understand what that feels like. We expect too much...the least we can do is be there to help him grow up...

Sapphire dragged a hand across her cheek, wiping away the wetness and sniffling to clear her nose. She began to share memories with Ruby as she healed. Her crimson red slowly recovering minute by minute. "I remember the time we went on a vacation to a beach far from here. " she giggled. "You didn't like the fish!"

Still nothing....

"And when you made love to me on the beach there, you ended up cleaning sand out of your butt for a while!" That brought a tear to her eye. Those were the good times.

Still nothing....

"I remember reading to you. We were both naked in bed...and when it was your turn, you stumbled over all the words. You turned so red!" She smiled and pushed the hair out of her eye to check on Ruby's gem, but it wasn't there.

"I remember fucking you hard that night~"

"RUBY!!!!!!!" Sapphire looked up as arms reached down and held her waist in a tight fiery embrace. "H-how- Ah-ahhhhmm....." she moaned as Ruby's hot tongue lapped over hers'.

Ruby ended the kiss and stared back into her eye with a longing even she could see. "Ruby...RUBY I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!!" She threw her arms around Ruby and smothered her face in wet kisses.

"Ah geez babe...you're freezing. " she giggled, picking her up and holding her closely against her chest. Sapphire could practically see the happiness spread all over her beautiful face.

"RUBY!!!!" She said abruptly. "We need to fuse! NOW! There's NO time to tell you what went on...you'll know when we fuse. I-if my vision's right, Steven's in trouble!"

Ruby grasped Sapphire's hand quickly. "Yeah." She wrapped her arms around her and sidestepped slowly in a dancing rhythm. Sapphire went along and in no time their lips were sealed.

Light rose up all around them, spinning slowly at first then faster as they merged into one another, becoming now what is known as Garnet-
