I was sitting in my apartment reading. Graham was giving Emma the run down on how to be a deputy. Than, an earthquake hit and everything shook and fell.

I got a text from Graham. It said:

Drive down to the abandoned mines. We'll meet you there.

Regina was already there along with the rest of the town. I had my hair in a messy bun and I wore sweatpants and a tank top.

"Sheriff, Natalia put up some police lines." Said Regina. "Marco, help the fire department." She looked at Emma. "This is official town business Miss Swann your free to go." "Actually I work for the town now." Said Emma.

Regina looked at Graham and I. I stared at the ground. "She's my new deputy." Said Graham. "They say the mayor is the last to know." Said Regina.  "It's under my budget." Said Graham. "Indeed." Said Regina. "Well deputy, make yourself useful and help with crowd control."

Regina shot Graham an icy glare before turning around and gave the town a speech telling them to stay calm. Then she explained her plan to bulldoze the mines.

"Archie!" Said Henry. "Natalia!" Emma, Dr. Hopper, and I went behind the sheriff's car to Henry. "This requires all of operation cobra." He said. "I didn't know I was in operation cobra." Said Archie. "Of course you are, you know everything." Said Henry. "We can't let her do this. What if there's something down there?" "They're just a bunch of old tunnels." I said. "That just happened to collapse right after she got here." Henry said pointing to Emma. "Things are changing. Your weakening the curse. Something you did today effected it."

"Henry, I told you to wait in the car." Said Regina. "Deputy, do your job." Then she looked at me. "And get some clothes on." She said and walked off.

I rolled my eyes. "I better get home." I said to Emma. "Call me if you need anything." "Will do." Said Emma.

The next morning I laid in bed for as long as I could. Maybe I could have one day where I could sit and read my book.

I probably read about 3 pages before Graham called me. "How busy are you?" Said Graham. "As busy as I always am." I said. "Why, what's up?"

"Are you familiar with Eugene Fitzherbert?" Graham asked. "He's a bartender at the Rabbit Hole? About your age?" "We've met. Why?" I asked. "Because I just got a call that he just robbed Mr. Gold's shop." Said Graham. "Gold really needs a new security system." I said.

"You know how to use a gun and have helped me solve multiple cases." Said Graham. "I was wondering if you wanted to cover this one." "Wait, your putting me on a case?" I said. "If your up to it." Said Graham.

"I-I'll go up and talk to Gold." I said. "If you need anything, I'll be at the mines." Said Graham. With that, he hung up.

I got up and put on some jeans and a sweatshirt. I brushed my hair and drove down to Mr. Gold's pawn shop.

When I got there, I could see the broken display case, but it looked like Gold took care of the glass. "Good morning Miss Turner." Said Gold. "Morning Mr. Gold." I said. "Where's sheriff Graham may I ask?" Asked Gold. "Actually, I'm covering this case." I said. "Can I ask you what was stolen?"

"Do you remember that knife that you were interested in?" He asked. I nodded. "Why would he steal an old knife?" I asked. "Don't mind me saying that I've seen kitchen knives fancier than that." "I'm not sure, but I do remember him coming in the shop the day before and had the same reaction as you when he saw it." Said Gold.

"Was it worth anything?" I asked. "Not much if I must be honest." He said. Then he probably didn't sell it. He'll still have it on him. Where we find Eugene, we find the knife.

My next stop was his ex girlfriend's house. She's a hairstylist named Basil. I thought maybe she would know where he might have gone.

I knocked on her door. It was a strange house. It looked normal except the huge tower connected to it. The tower only had one window at the top that I could see.

A woman with copper skin and dark hair opened the door. "Are you Basil Corona?" I asked. "Yes, who are you?" She asked. "My name is-" I was about to say my real name, but thought that might not be a good idea due to what happened before on Eugene and I's 'date'. "Natalie Finch." I said. "I'd like to ask you a few questions about Eugene Fitzherbert."

"Eugene stole from Mr. Gold's pawnshop this morning." I said after Basil let me inside and gave me some well needed coffee. "What did he steal?" Asked Basil. "A knife." I said. "I was wondering if you might know where he would have gone?"

"Well, when Eugene was stressed he would always go to the Rabbit Hole and have a drink with the Stabbington twins." Said Basil. "They sound like little patches of sunshine." I said. "You know where I could find them?"

"They have a room at Granny's I think." Said Basil. "They just graduated college." "Thanks." I said.

I drove my pickup down to Granny's. I called earlier and she told me what room the twins are in. When I got there, I went to the room and knocked on the door.

A man with orange hair opened the door. He was heavily built and definitely past 6 foot. "Are you Taylor or Tyler Stabbington?" I asked. "Tyler." He said. "Who are you?" "Natalia Turner." I said. "I'm from the Storybrooke police department. I'd like to ask you about Eugene Fitzherbert."

Tyler shoved me to the ground and ran down the stairs. As if on instinct, I sprinted after him. He got halfway down the street before I tackled him to the ground. I handcuffed him and threw him in my pickup.

I drove him to the police station and put him in a cell. "What do you know about Eugene Fitzherbert?" I asked. "Why should I tell you?" He said. "Because your facing charges for assaulting an officer, and I'm assuming defending a fugitive." I said. "But if you tell me his whereabouts, I could have a talk with the sheriff and knock off some jail time."

Tyler shook his head. "Taylor said something about a tower." He muttered. Then my phone rang. "Hey Graham." I said. "How's the case?" He asked. "I think I'll need some help." I said. "I found out where there hiding." "We just got the mine situation settled, so where can we meet you?" "Do you know where Basil Corona lives?" I asked.

Graham, Emma, and I stood outside Basil's front door and knocked. Basil opened the door. "Hello officers, anything I can help you with?" She asked. "Basil, what do you have in that tower of yours?" I asked. "I just use it for storage." Said Basil. "Why, what's wrong?" "She has no idea." Said Emma. "I can tell."

"Basil, we're going to have to search that tower." Said Graham. "Of course." She said. "But there's only one way up."

"Climb?" I said, looking up from the foot of the tower. "I'm afraid so." Said Basil. "I used to have a rope that would make it easier, but I lost it." "A rope would make it easier?" Said Emma.

"I'll go." I said. "Come get me if I'm not back in 10 minutes." Then I started climbing.

Thank god Jared taught me how to rock climb. "What is this, Rapunzel?" I said. I kept telling myself not to look down due to the fact that heights terrify me.

When I got to the top, I pulled out my gun. "This is the police, come out with your hands up." I said. Then someone came from behind me and grabbed me. "Hold her down." Said a voice that belonged to Eugene. I figured the one holding me was the other Stabbington twin, Taylor. He threw my gun across the room. "Well, if it isn't Natalia Turner." Said Eugene.

"Always nice to meet a fan." I smirked. He put the stolen knife at my throat. "Do you know why I stole this piece of junk?" Said Eugene. "To draw you here. To finish what your brother left behind."

"What do you have against Jared?" I asked. "It doesn't matter." Said Eugene. "All that matters is that you'll be reunited with him. In death."

"Put your hands in the air." Said Emma who had just arrived. Eugene and Taylor obeyed. "Your both under arrest for assaulting an officer and attempted murder."

Once we got the two in their cells, we all went to Granny's. "That was-" "Crazy." I said cutting Emma off. "You did great Natalia." Said Graham. "I might need an officer like you." "Are you saying-" Graham handed me a police badge.

"Wow, thank you, so much, both of you." I said. "I just have one question." Said Emma. "Why did Eugene have it out for you?" "I don't know." I sighed. "But Henry's right about one thing. Things are changing around here. For better, or for worse."
