Chapter Five ➳
After a while of lying in bed, Bill snuck out of the attic without Will noticing. His brother had fallen asleep, a quarter of the cupcake left up on the nightstand. Will was sprawled out on the bed, his legs curled up and one arm hanging off the edge and his lips parted as he snored softly. Bill had only stared at him momentarily, wondering if he should sneak off, but in the end he did.
It felt nice to have his annoying cry-baby twin off his back. They spent their whole lives together and it was agitating at times to spend every living, breathing second with each other. Their relationship was confusing or, you could even consider it, bipolar. Bill jogged up into the gift shop and swung the door open, peeking in.
His red-head crush sat up by the cashier, a magazine in her hands and boots propped up on the wooden counter. The blonde smiled brightly and raced up quickly to the girl. "Hey, Wendy!"
Wendy lowered her magazine and when her gaze met his, she managed a small smile. "Hey, Bill. Where's Will?"
Bill clenched his jaw. The first thing she did was ask where his measly brother was? Seriously? Bill exhaled hotly. "Upstairs taking a nap. Why?"
Wendy shrugged. "I was just wondering. He's usually with you 24/7."
The twin crossed his arms, annoyed. "Well, just because we're siblings doesn't mean we have to always be with each other. Besides, it's not hard to get tired of Will."
Wendy shot Bill a glare that the boy didn't catch. "Oh."
"You wanna go hang out?" Bill dove straight into the question, smiling giddily.
Wendy sighed heavily. "I don't know, man. I still have to work."
Bill blinked, shocked at her lack of eagerness to escape her job. "What? But usually you'd be all for it!"
Wendy shrugged. "I don't wanna get fired. Sorry, man."
Bill clenched his hands into fists, growling. "Ok," he managed to get out. And with that, he turned around and stomped out of the gift shop and sullenly back up to the attic. He ran up, muttering hateful things under his breath. When he reached the attic he threw the door open and sped in.
What he didn't expect was for someone to be standing right on the other side.
Bill barreled straight into Will and smashed him into the floor.
"OW!" Will cried out, his body contracting under his twin's.
Bill shook his head and opened his eyes that he had squeezed shut and looked down at his shy brother. His gaze didn't show an apology, for he only glared at Will. "Whoops," Bill said with negative emotion.
"G-get off me!" Will whined and put his hands up against Bill's chest, attempting to shove him off.
Bill simply stood up and left Will lying on the ground and marched over to his bed.
"Wh-what the heck, B-Bill?!" Will exclaimed and helped himself up.
Bill ignored his sibling and dropped back upon his bed, annoyed and disappointed.
"Why are y-you so gr-grumpy?" Will asked as he stomped over, slightly angry, but it was hard to be afraid of Will. Come on, he's Will.
Bill shrugged and looked away. "Wendy didn't want to hang out with me," he responded after a moment.
Will stopped talking and nodded. "Oh... I s-see."
Bill crossed his arms over his chest, facing in the opposite direction of his twin. "She only wants to hang out with you," he spat, a bitter tinge to his words.
Will flinched back, but blush formed in his pale cheeks. "R-really?"
The blonde didn't bother responding. His brother was a pathetic loser, so why did Wendy appear to like him more? Bill couldn't seem to comprehend the correct answer.
Will started pumping his fists. "I-is she in the g-gift shop right now?"
His twin shrugged and sighed heavily. "Yeah, but who cares. She doesn't want to get fired."
Will studied his brother momentarily before he shrugged as well. "I-I'll be down in the gift sh-shop," he said and bolted out the door.
Bill groaned and glared at the wall for a little while, thinking dark and hateful things towards his brother. "That stupid wimp needs to grow up. It makes no sense why she likes him!" Bill sighed and rolled over, lying on his other side.
He suddenly let out a horrified scream when found the Dream Demon, Mabel, floating right beside him at the edge of his bed. The sweater was still the same and made of pink goo, the claws, sharp teeth, pupil-less eyes, and the demonic presence.
"Hello, BT," she crooned, smiling and revealing her white canines.
Bill scrambled backwards. "Leave me alone! I've had enough of you for today!"
Mabel shrugged, landing on the floor. The room was incredibly dark and she appeared to glow pink. "That was only my brother, silly. He just wants you. He wants you bad..."
Bill took in deep, ragged breaths and glanced around, hoping he could escape Mabel. "Just give me a break!"
Mabel shook her head, her brown hair flowing around as if in zero gravity. "Nope! That's the whole point. To torture and annoy you till you break!" she materialized a stick into her hands and snapped it in half without hesitation.
Bill flinched, pressing himself up against the wall. "Well, I'll never 'break', ok?!"
Mabel smirked and levitated herself towards the blonde, hovering next to him. "I think my brother likes you," she said, giggling.
Bill's stomach heaved. "Go away!"
The brunette ignored his order. "He kept talking about your blood..." She lowered herself onto the bed, grinning, but Bill knew beneath that was a demon that could shred him to pieces. "You must taste pretty good, kid."
Bill stared at her, his chest rising and falling rapidly. "Why don't you go ask him?"
Mabel giggled. "I can tell by inference..." her voice trailed off as she let her self float and turn upside down. "I'd like a taste of that... Maybe it'll knock some sense into you," she hummed, tapping her chin.
Bill had a moment to scramble backwards and get off his bed. "No! I've had enough of people drinking my blood!"
The she-demon smiled and laughed. "Oh, right, I guess you would only want Dipper to be doing that type of stuff to you. He is the only one who can pull it off," she laughed in the blonde's face.
Bill's face heated up. "Or, how about no?"
Mabel twisted upright and dropped to her feet, walking up to him. "Look, Pines, you are going to help us. You summoned us and let us into your mind. That was your choice; ok? Set us free."
Bill, for a moment, was caught up in the gentle and friendliness of her voice before her appearance caught up with it. "No! Are you guys deaf?! I've told you a trillion times!"
Mabel sighed, and played with her small hands. "At this moment Dipper would try to seduce you..." she breathed. "But that's not my style." She looked up, white eyes shining with malice. "Till next time, my little pawn." The Dream Demon brought up her hand, a knife coming along with it, and sliced up his body.
Bill cried out in pain as it ripped through him and he collapsed on the floor in his own blood.
"I don't like you, flesh bag," she spat, annoyed. "You'll be seeing my brother more often. He has a lot more patients for humans like you."
And with that Bill passed out cold in his dream.
---
Bill opened his eyes and found himself staring at the wall. The memories of his dream slowly came back to him and he shot up, lifting up his sweater. Underneath it was nothing but smooth, tan, skin. Not a scratch. Bill exhaled heavily in relief and flopped back in his bed, yawning.
The two demons were making him tired constantly. They wanted him to sleep again so the both of them could torture Bill.
Bill rubbed the back of his hand over his sore and tired eyes. Right now Will was probably out hanging with Wendy and having a good time, not even knowing about his brother's recurring nightmares. But it wasn't like the blonde was ever going to tell Will. Bill groaned low in his throat, trying to bat away the memories of Mabel stalking around him, trying to confusing him.
"You gotta find a way to fix this..." Bill breathed to himself and held back more tears.
