Chapter Six ➳
Bill didn't leave the attic for a while. He sat up there thinking of ways to fix everything. But that's when it dawned upon the blonde that maybe that stupid journal had an answer. Bill pulled it out, flipping through the pages till he got to the one for summoning written on it.
Dipper had mentioned listening to "Sixer's" warnings. He must have been talking about the author since the cover did have a six fingered hand print on it. The blonde reread the page over and over again, and every time he did read it, he was now seeing the "DO NOT SUMMON AT ALL COSTS" written in large, bold letters.
"God, I'm such an idiot," Bill hissed, face-palming. He had been so absorbed in "doing something cool" that he had completely ignored the the warnings. Now his life was most likely in jeopardy. Bill desperately searched for a way to banish them or rid them from his head. But there was nothing in the journal. The Author didn't have anything about getting rid of the Dream Demons.
"Useless book!" Bill screamed and flung it across the room. "You can do things but you can't undo things!" Bill growled low in his throat and glared at the book which was now lying on Will's bed.
From a distance, the blonde picked up some voices. He ran up to the triangular window and peeked out through it. To his horror, he saw Wendy marching around, carrying his brother upon her shoulders and laughing brightly. Jealousy swamped over him instantly. "Are you kidding me?!" He slammed his fists up against the window, breathing heavily. "She's 'busy' alright!"
Bill watched his twin through the window, his hate growing. He really liked Wendy, a lot, and Will was snatching her away. What was it about the blue-haired boy that she liked so much? It made no sense?
"Aw, jealousy is such a vile emotion to have," a voice whispered into his ear.
Bill yelped and stumbled to the side, almost knocking his hip into the desk.
The Dream Demon, Dipper, floated by him, resting his head in his hands and legs crossed like he was lying on a bed.
"What are you doing here? I'm not even asleep!" Bill cried.
Dipper chuckled. "Yes you are. It isn't that hard for you to pass out, kid."
Bill was seething with anger and irritation. "Well, I already know what your going to ask and it's no. Give it up already," he spat and turned back towards the window, but Dipper grabbed the blonde's shoulders and spun him in his direction.
"Oh, I know you're going to be saying that for a while... I'm just persistent. My sister isn't full of perseverance, so she tends to hand me the ropes with humans like you," he explained, staring into Bill's soul.
Bill cringed. "So what? I'm not giving up. And besides that, I can be jealous all I want. He's a stupid bastard and he doesn't deserve Wendy."
Dipper chuckled and landed on his feet, walking towards Bill so the blonde had to back away into the bed. "Are you talking about Will or yourself, Bill?"
Bill gasped, completely offended. "Excuse me?! I'm talking about my idiot brother!"
Dipper smirked, crossing his arms. "It's hard to tell with you two if you love each other," he laughed, "or at least with you. With Will, it's obvious."
Bill clenched his hands into fists. "You don't know anything about us. As if a retarded demon like you could tell the difference between 'love' and 'hate'."
Dipper's cat-gaze turned sour. "Watch it, buddy. You better be careful. Don't forget who you're talking to."
The blonde swallowed nervously.
"How about, you help us and I'll help you get Wendy?"
Bill's ears perked up to that, but he quickly shook his head. "No! I'm not an idiot. Forget it, your attempts are a lost cause."
Dipper's patients was now pretty short. "You always know what my alternative motive is..." he threatened, his voice darkening.
Bill's heart rate sped up a little and he glanced to the side momentarily. "L-look, just go bother some other human. I'm obviously not-" he cut himself off as he was shoved onto the bed, a gasp escaping his throat.
"I have a variety of weapons to choose from," the Dream Demon sang. "Hmm, let's see here. A throwing knife, a dagger, scissors, chainsaw..." he voice trailed off and he turned to Bill, smirking. "What do you want?"
Bill was trembling as Dipper crawled on top of him, waiting for a reply. "N-none. Stop hurting me, i-it's getting old already." Bill tried to keep his comical tone, but it was fading away rather quickly.
"See? Even you are getting bored and annoyed. Just agree to help us and this'll all stop," the brunette whispered.
Bill was continuously tempted to give in and relieve himself of this frequent torture. But, he knew that he'd regret that greatly if he did. "You already know what my answer is, Dipper."
Dipper sighed heavily. "Torturing one person can get boring..." he murmured, examining Bill's body.
Bill flushed, and attempted to move the demon, but it was to no avail. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Leave me alone."
Dipper pouted. "You surely are a stubborn one," he commented.
Bill scrunched up his nose. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Dipper growled and pressed his hands up against Bill's shoulder, lifting himself up. His yellow cat-like eyes seemed to glow in the strange darkness, but it didn't stop Bill from his eyes wandering to the hole blasted in the Dream Demon's midsection. "Pretend I'm Wendy, ok, mortal?"
Bill blinked, staring at Dipper, confused. "I— what?"
Dipper levitated himself off of the blonde and dropped to the wooden floor. "You heard me." He suddenly morphed shape and took form of the red-head, but the eyes remained the same. "Now, I'm going to go and 'hang out' with Will, right now. What do you do?"
"What are you doing?" Bill asked, truly baffled.
"What do you do?!" Dipper repeated himself, making Bill flinch.
The blonde's eyes flicked from side-to-side. "Um... I walk up to her and try to distract her?"
Dipper laughed. "See, you suck at this."
Bill stomped his foot down. "What do you know about anything?!"
Dipper took back his own form and hovered above ground. "Oh, I know lots of things."
The twin crossed his arms, mumbling stuff to himself. "Whatever."
"My point is, I can help you!"
"I said no already, you idiot!" Bill screamed and turned away from the demon. "I'm not falling for it."
Dipper sighed heavily. "Fine. Let's just say you're going to be having some bad luck a lot more often. I'll torture you next time, buddy."
Dipper snapped his fingers and Bill woke up.
He was lying on the floor, sprawled out as if he had fallen, which he probably did. The blonde slowly got to his feet and wobbled for a moment, regaining awareness of his surroundings. He had to stop randomly passing out like that. Bill looked out the window and saw Wendy sitting on a log with Will, talking up a storm.
Bill glared at them, envying his brother deeply, and crossed his arms. They were having such a good time. He continued to observe them from a distance. Will still seemed to be introversive as usual, sometimes shying away or blushing of getting flustered as heck. The blonde could see it all from here.
Wendy was talking at the moment, making large, grand gestures with her hands and Will suddenly slumped over. Wendy stopped talking, looking at him concerned. Bill saw her say, "You ok, man?" and when Will didn't respond she started shaking his shoulders.
Bill pushed open the window now to hear, confused.
"Will, dude, you ok?" Wendy asked.
Will fell off of the log onto the floor.
"Will?!" Wendy exclaimed, getting on her knees.
Bill watched, scared and confused on what was happening. "Why did he pass out?" he whispered. He thought about running down, but he needed to see what had happened before he intruded like a stalker.
Suddenly, Will stood up, and looked over at Wendy. "Hey, Wendy, I'm fine."
Bill watched, disturbed. Something wasn't right.
Will suddenly placed a hand on her leg, smiling like he was high or something. "Wanna go back up to my room...or something...?"
Bill's heart stopped. "Crap!" He threw open the drawer in the dresser, yanking out the white, plastic bottle and bolting down stairs. It didn't take too long for him to race out of the house and towards them.
"Woah, dude, what's gotten into you?" Wendy asked, eyes darting around nervously.
Bill ran up. "Will! Quit it!" he screamed, running towards them.
Will turned around, surprised. "Aw, come on, bro. I'm just talking with Red, here."
Bill marched up, furious. "Wendy, just ignore him. Will, take these," he held out his hand, holding two white pills.
Will hesitantly grabbed them, glaring at Bill all the way, and swallowed them dry.
Wendy glanced at the twins, baffled. "What's going on here?"
Bill met Wendy's gaze. "It's a long story, ok? Will, come with me. You can come back in ten minutes." He took Will's hand, though he refused many times before he got a hold of it, and lugged him back towards the house.
"You freaking idiot," Bill spat angrily, "if you felt it happening you should have gone back inside immediately."
"Yeah, whatever," Will scoffed, reluctantly allowing himself to be pulled upstairs.
"Get into bed," Bill ordered him.
The other narrowed his blue eyes. "Why—"
"Just do it!" Bill screamed.
Will muttered some uncomplimentary words under his breath before obeying. He snuggled under the covers and closed his eyes.
"Now stay there for at least five minutes," the blonde whispered.
Will was breathing softly now, eyes closed and arms crossed loosely over his chest. Bill sat by his bedside for the five minutes, waiting and watching. And to think Will had done so well for so long...
Will slowly awoke and rubbed his eyes. "Ugh, w-what happened?"
"You must have forgotten to take your pills, you dunce," Bill growled.
Will flushed, embarrassed, and looked away. "Oh, I-I guess I d-did."
The blonde nodded. "Mhm. Wendy almost had a heart attack."
Will went white. "I w-was with W-Wendy when it happened?!"
Bill chuckled a little. "Yeah..."
Will put his face in his hands, shaking. "Oh, God."
"Don't worry, I saved you," Bill said in a cheerful tone.
Will brought his head down, smiling earnestly. "Th-thanks, Bill,"
Bill set the bottle up on the table. "Forget it. I've been doing this long enough to be used to it."
Will sighed and flopped back on his pillow. "I m-must be cursed or-or something to h-have so many pr-problems with m-me," he said with slight anger.
"You're just unlucky," Bill responded quietly.
Will shrugged and turned to his side. "Can y-you believe I'm even a-alive still, s-somehow?"
"Sure I can believe it," Bill laughed and rubbed his arm.
"J-just so you kn-know," Will stammered, "having MPD s-sucks."
"I never doubted it, buddy," Bill sighed, feeling remorse for his twin's problems.
"I-I'd like to be j-just one person, th-thank you," he grumbled.
"Hey, stop being so down. How about we go to the park later, or tomorrow? Just the two of us can hang out."
Will turned around and smiled. "S-sure."
"And don't worry," Bill chuckled, "I'll make sure Will 2.0 doesn't come out then."
Will laughed but sighed. "Wh-what would I do w-without y-you, Bill?"
