Chapter Seven ➳

It had been at least two months since Will had let himself slip into that...that other him. Neither Bill nor Will really talked about the shy boy's reverse personality. One of the biggest reasons why they didn't talk about it was because of what caused him to develop a second personality. Will wasn't born with MPD, about three years earlier he ended up showing signs of the other personality. It was strange, he called himself Mike, and it made no sense to them.

Thank God he hadn't gone marching around all courageous, saying his name was Mike. They had gotten lucky that Bill had managed to get to Will in time. Last time Mike came in, it didn't really go well. That was another reason why they never spoke of Will's MPD. The twin didn't want to tell anyone about it, so only Will, Bill and their parents knew about it.

"You doing ok, buddy?" Bill asked carefully. He was sitting on the edge of Will's bed, holding a glass of water in one hand and a cornered look adorning his face.

Will exhaled softly. "Y-yeah. Don't w-worry. He didn't g-get to me too b-bad."

Bill sighed, handing his brother the glass of water. "You better be more careful. People could take advantage of you for being unstable."

Will made a face. "U-unstable? Taken ad-advantage of? I am c-careful."

"Then why did you let him get to you just then?" Bill said sourly.

Will averted his eyes in shame. "I wasn't r-really thinking."

Bill lowered his eyes lids, studying his twin. "And?"

"I-I wasn't paying a-attention. I was h-having so much f-fun with Wendy...a-and..." he stopped talking slowly, setting the glass aside. "I'm s-sorry."

Bill shook his head. "Be careful, Will."

The blue-haired boy nodded. "I will. I pr-promise."

"Do you want to go back out to Wendy?" Bill asked him kindly.

Will was hesitant in his response. "N-no... She probably th-thinks I'm bipolar or-or something..."

Bill hummed in sympathy. "I get yah," he murmured. "Do you want to go to the park now?" Bill yawned, rubbing his eyes, but did his best to focus on his twin.

Will shook his head. "I don't f-feel like going o-out right now."

Bill dropped his gaze, not able to see Will's face so put down like that. He yawned once more. "We'll go tomorrow, ok?"

Will smiled slightly and let Bill stand up.

The blonde yawned again, rubbing his eyes a couple times.

"You sl-sleepy or something?" Will asked, chucking lightly.

"Yeah," Bill exhaled and lumbered over to his bed.

"Y-you've been sl-sleeping a lot l-lately," Will stated, adjusting his sheets.

Bill didn't want to fall asleep again. He knew that those two demons were waiting for him on the other side. It was hard for the blonde to break out of his own dreams now. They kept him contained. "I know..."

"A-are you ok?" Will questioned his brother.

"Stop asking me that," Bill spat, holding back yet another yawn, "I am 'ok'."

Will turned around in his bed, facing away from the blonde.

Will had the right to worry for his brother, but Bill didn't want him to worry. Will was already so stressed out and paranoid, the last thing he needed was his brother having a demon problem. Bill was going to have to deal with this on his own.

Maybe I can sleep soundly this time? Bill wondered. Maybe I should just stop sleeping... I've been sleeping so much more than usual... What's the opposite of being an insomniac...? Bill didn't realize that his legs gave out and he fell onto the bed, passed out cold.

---

"You're back already!"

Bill opened his eyes. He was in the forest, standing in a small clearing, surrounded by trees and a starry night sky above him. But he wasn't focused on the scenery, he was focused on Mabel, floating a few feet in front of him.

The blonde groaned. "Ugh, are you serious right now?!"

Mabel giggled and hopped over to him. "Of course we're serious. We're very serious."

Bill brought down his hands to glare at the she-demon. "Are you two ever going to give up?"

Mabel laughed and examined her fingers. "Nope. You're too useful to give up on."

Bill rolled his eyes. "What are you going to try to do this time? Are you starting to actually get creative?"

"Hey," the brunette said, offended, "don't be so rude to your superior."

Bill scoffed and sarcastically said, "Oh, I'm sorry."

Mabel cocked an eyebrow, her pupil-less eyes boring into him. "So, your brother, Will, has MPD, hmm?"

The blonde stiffened up, the sarcasm turned to anger. "What about him?"

Mabel shrugged and something flicked behind her. It was a tail, a red devil's tail. "Oh, nothing really, just striking up a conversation." She started to walk circles around the boy. "So...hm, do you love him?"

Bill made a face. "You're not getting anything out of me, sorry."

Mabel nodded. "You do. Well, that's what I expected anyways, no matter how horribly you treat him."

He fisted his hands. "Why are you really bringing him up?"

"Have you ever met Mike?" Mabel asked suddenly, her eyes wide and she was very close to the blonde.

Bill stumbled backwards a couple steps. "I— his other personality?"

Mabel nodded, smiling like a psycho. "Mhmmm..."

The boy looked away for a moment. "A couple times, I guess," he grumbled. "Why?"

The Dream Demon laughed. "Oh, you haven't actually met him. He's quite interesting."

"You don't know anything about Will, so stop acting like you do!" Bill warned her.

Mabel backed away. "Aw, getting defensive, are we?"

Bill clenched his teeth together, growling.

She flounced around, giggling. A small pair of matching, red bat wings spread from her back and she flapped them, rising off the ground. "Will's vulnerable," she said, her voice echoing.

"I've always known that," Bill said, annoyed.

Mabel made a face that said, "I don't think so". She grabbed her tail for a bit, studying the pointed tip. "No, not that way. You'll see..."

"Stop delivering empty threats. I'm not stupid," the blonde retorted.

Mabel laughed. "Ah, right, you're only scared of Dipper..." her voice developed a mischievous tone to it. She stalked up to him, trapping him against a tree. "Because he's more serious...more dominant."

Bill's face burned red. "And? So what?!"

"I guess he's more persuasive than me..." she said wistfully and chuckled at the boy. "You really annoy him, you know? He talks about you quite often now."

"Because I'm your only way out!" Bill said quickly. "That's why."

Mabel smirked. "Mhm, sure." She backed away, fluttering her wings. "I guess he is scarier. He sure knows how to get to you and exploit your weaknesses."

The blonde's heart was beating faster than he realized. "So what?!"

The demon chuckled lowly. "That'll come in handy very soon. Watch him get into your head and confuse and twist your thoughts... This'll surely be entertaining... Talk about regret."

Panic slowly began to settle inside of Bill. What was she talking about?

"You and Dipper aren't too different. You'll see that soon enough. Then you'll set us free, BT..." Mabel waved her hand and a white light burst from her palm and swirled towards the blonde and engulfed him.

---

Bill reopened his eyes and sat up. He had been lying on his bed, only on his stomach, with his waist hanging off the edge. His body was sore from lying like that. He groaned and stretched out. Mabel had to be lying. She was just trying to get into his head. She had to be.

"You and Dipper aren't too different."

"What does that mean...?" Bill whispered, studying his hands.

"Wh-what does what m-mean?" Will dropped his input.

The twin turned around to face his blue-haired brother. "Oh, nothing."

Will hummed and snuggled into his blanket.

"Have you ever met Mike?"

Bill lowered his gaze guiltily. Why did Will have be tortured like this? Why did Bill have to be tortured like this?
