Packing my bag, I was ready to leave campus. My last class for the day had just finished and going home did not exactly sound appealing to me. As I zipped my bag, a shadow came over me; hauling the few pounds over my shoulder I turned to face the people who had approached me.
Two girls stood in front of me, smiling sweetly. A blonde with green eyes about five feet four and the other, a brunette with dark eyes to match her hair standing a head over her friend.
"Hey there" blondie spoke "I'm Jessica, this here is Marissa."
"Victoria."
"Oh we know who you are hon, your name happens to be the hot topic around the school" Marissa grinned.
So that's what this was. They were recruiting me for their bitch clique; if that was the case I had no interest in being some queen bee wannabe.
"Is that so? I hadn't noticed."
"So, we're hitting the club tonight and we wanted to invite you. How bout it?"
I had opened my mouth to refuse but after a quick thought I accepted the invite, there was nothing for me to do at the house, I didn't want to sit around and let the silence deafen me either I'd rather go to a place filled with sweaty humans and drink my worries away. After exchanging numbers with Jessica and Marissa I left campus.
Hours after soaking in the bath, I had received a text from Jessica stating the address and that she and her friends would be waiting for me at the club. Within an hour, I had ordered a taxi, done my make-up and slipped into the outfit I had selected; I grabbed my purse and made my way out of the door.
As I was walking down the steps to the cab, bone crushing chills exploded along my spine causing me to freeze in my step. Turning my head in the direction of Callum's house, I saw as he was peeking through the blinds, rolling my eyes I ignored as he waved and got into the taxi, telling the driver my desired destination.
It wasn't long before I had strutted into the club searching for Jessica and Marissa, when I had spotted them I immediately approached them and the few others they were with.
"I had thought you changed your mind" Jessica giggled as she threw an arm over my shoulder. She pulled me into her body, hugging me tightly before releasing me; she then turned to her friends catching their attention "guys this is Victoria. Vicky meet Matthew, Chris and Brian."
I tried hard not to cringe at that nickname, I had always hated when people called me Vicky. It was either my full name or Tori, never Vicky.
Chris wedged himself between Jessica and I then captured my hand in his, "it's a pleasure meeting you gorgeous" he winked at me before kissing the back of my hand.
"Likewise" I smiled at him, there was no doubt that Chris was a flirt; however when a girl normally hears the name Chris doesn't the automatic thought of him being a flirt comes to mind because of his name?
"Cut that out and move your ass aside" Matthew yanked Chris away from me before his face split into a grin "hi beautiful you can call me Matt, if you never need a fun friend I'm your guy."
I raised my brow at his choice of words; it took him a moment before he realized what he said "shit! I didn't mean it like that...but if you want we could be that too...not that I'm tryin' to get in your pants or anything."
"Cute." I chuckled; he couldn't no matter how hard he tried.
"My god, forgive these uncultured idiots Victoria, its nice meeting you, I'm glad you decided to come and hang with us." Brian smiled.
A smooth talker. He was the one I would be most weary of, these people weren't exactly people I'd put my trust in but they were good for something and it was just happened to be what I needed.
After greeting the fellas I turned to the bar and ordered myself some drinks. After two tequila shots and a Long Island Iced Tea in hand, I found myself on the dance floor surrounded by a sea of high and drunk people all dancing to the pounding music. Holding onto Chris I let my body grind against him, his breath tickled my neck as he squeezed my hips. Reveling in the way my body vibrated, all thoughts and feelings of pain, sadness and anger were pushed to the back of my mind when the haze of my drinking settled in.
I knew, that the partying and the drinking were only a means to an end, but until I could go through the day without wanting to burst into tears I'd laugh and dance the night away.
